I have an Xperia S with "bootloader unlock allowed: no" but I want "yes". I think it depends on the motherboard, so if I change the motherboard in my device, then it would be "bootlader unlock allowed: yes"?
There are few issue you need to diagnosis.
1.Sony don't allowed you to unlock your bootloader without any network. Generally, it must attached with an active SIM Card.
2.Do you detect any SIGNAL on your device? My issue here is NO SIGNAL(Might be hardware issue), I think this is the main culprit to cause my device with "Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No".
I have a T-mobile sim locked Xperia S and I always have a sim card in it and I have signal. I know that sim unlocked Xperias' bootloaders can be unlocked, but sim locked Xperias' bootloaders can't be unlocked. I also have a sim unlocked Xperia Z2 and it's bootloader can be unlocked, but my Xperia S's bootloader can't be unlocked, but I thought if I'd replace motherboard, I could open bootloader.

Hai!
I have a question:
I have a Xperia Play that is Sim Locked and so i cant unlock my Bootloader.
My question is, if i pay my cellphone company to Sim unlock my Play, will i be able to unlock my bootloader after that? Or unlocking the bootloader only works on phones that are native sim unlocked?
Thanks!
It is still possible to unlock the bootloader of your phone as I have a sim locked phone but unlocked it and unlocked the bootloader altough to do this you are going to have to sim unlock your phone with a software like omnius which uses a testpoint connection which gives you the option to unlock the bootloader of your phone it will not work if you unlock your phone using a unlock code.

Hey there.
As the title says, i have a sim locked phone.
If i unlock the bootloader, will i still have to make a sim unlock or the sim will be unlocked as well ?
if no, i search a few sites that provide a software to make a sim unlock.
whats the diference from the unlock by code?
whats the best/sheapest one avaliable?
Regards
Filipe
Sim-unlocking and bootloader unlocking are two different things.
PAID bootloader unlock maintains DRM keys (TrackID still works) AND SIM/network unlocks the phone.
Official bootloader unlock from http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com does NOT unlock the SIM, erases DRM keys but is free.
As far as I know, there's no free SIM unlock software. In Canada, it's ~$6 CAD to buy an unlock code.
So my gf got an Orange Xperia M and would like to use a O2 SIM in it. It's obviously locked to Orange so right now it's asking for an unlock code when the O2 sim is installed.
I checked the service menu and her bootloader is locked tight too:
bootloader unlock allowed: No
I read that you need to unlock fastboot for the Sim lock to drop. Any way to do that?
We don't really need to unlock the bootloader at this stage just the sim lock.
Thanks a bunch.
My phone says that the bootloader can't be unlocked but I want to unlock it and I don't know how to do it

If it says "Bootloader Unlock allowed: No", then it is not possible to unlock Your bootloader. Probably Your device is a Operator locked or something similar too. Also, there was no need to create a new thread, You could have simply posted in here.
Bootloader unlock of LT28AT is impossible?

Does it matter that the HTC has a sim lock (e.g locked to T-Mobile or 3) when unlocking the bootloader?
I have seen a few threads and videos of sim locked htc's unlocking the bootloader and running custom ROMs. I'm not very familiar with HTC devices, so I'm not sure how unlocking the bootloader goes since its not like Sony devices when you have to unlock the sim to be able to unlock the bootloader.
