has anyone else run into this issue? my wifi seems to be on the fritz. a week ago i could search and add new wifi networks just fine. however, recently my wifi only connects to previously saved networks. when doing a search, it shows up completely blank. what's peculiar is that when i downloaded "wifi analyzer" from the play store, and did a search, i can see the wifi networks all perfectly fine. it's just the wifi search within settings shows up NOTHING.
Yes it happens but not sure why. I just restart my phone... Sometimes i put it on/off airplane mode and it works again. I think its something to do with location cause when i enable it then it sees the network

Hmm, why should location be a precondition to see what wifi networks exist ?

Hello
i have a htc desire gsm
and im running cyanogen mod 6.1.1 with radio version 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
i have the following problems:
i can connect to networks without a problem, and the connection seems stable and fast
but reconnecting is a problem, if i disconnect from a network, by disabling wifi or moving out of range, most of the times the wifi does not auto reconnect. it just stays as remembered and disabled. if i then click on the saved network it connects fine.
sometimes it has to connect two times to get a conenction, looks like connecting, then searching then connecting in the wireless and networks config screen.
its not a big problem but annoys me as hell
on the other hand i have one network, protected with 802.1x eap (ttls and pap) its the configuration where you need to input username and password and use a certificate.
with this network i have connection problems, connection works 1 out of 4 times and if not then i have to redo the whole config. this annoys me even more because the network is unusable for me most of the time.
and
today i had the problem that the wifi conenction dropped regularly, connected, then came scanning which disconnected my wifi and then reconnected. and so on.
wifi settings even force closed then
had to reboot, after that was fine. lets see for how long
i have googled around but never found an answer or fix for this.
so can anybody help me here ?
and i have some related questions.
is there an app that can show me only wifi and related logs ?
is wifi connection related to radio version ?
where are the wifi settings located ? like saved networks and so on ?
thx in advance
I also have that auto reconnection problem. Waiting for a fix for that.
Does it manifest exactly as I described it or in some other way?

I'm having issues with my nexus not detecting wifi networks available. It won't recognize networks on a consistent basis and therefore I am unable to get connected during those times.
Is there a setting I am missing somewhere to scan for wifi networks?
I've never had this problem before ICS. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well...if anyone else is having the same problem that I was, here's the easy solution.
"To get to WiFi settings, go to settings and tap on Wifi. (The word, not the On/Off switch). You can go to advanced from those three dots on the bottom right."

I hope this helps someone out.
Hey guys
Been having an issue for as long as I can remember. I'm on cm9 nightlies...usually latest and whenever I'm at a friends house I can't seem to scan for wifi networks. My wifi works at home but its a hidden network I manually put in. As far as scanning for networks to join nothing comes up though. My list of networks will show previously joined networks and if I try to "forget" any of those nothing happens either.
Any ideas? I usually wipe cache and dalvik cache between flashing and prior to cm9 I was on stock...came with a clean wipe install too.
Edit: it seems like i can only scan and find networks while I'm connected to a network. I've just tried testing various times at home...while I'm connected to my network all of my neighbors wifi points show up. But if I disconnect from my network (leaving wifi on) nothing shows up. Anyone else experiencing this?
edit2: through my ocd I found this app that is a "wifi fixer" for older samsung phones....apparently it just clears out your wireless profiles....that seems to have done the trick and now i can scan for wifi normal again.
for future reference does anyone know where the wifi profiles file is located on galaxy nexus?
also you can close or put this as solved mods...thanks

Good evening ladies and gents, i got a nexus 7 wifi only 2nd gen and i was wondering if i can find a fix to a strange problem i am having with it lately.
So i had to remove my saved wifi network about a week ago, and i restarted the tablet shortly after that. I switched it on like 5 minutes later and i normally went to proceed to connect to my wifi. Surprisingly i could not find any wireless networks, i tried with my phone and the wifi list of the nearby networks popped up directly and my wfi was working perfectly, i tried to scan for wifi signals again to reconnect to my home wifi but nothing was showing up again and again even if the wireless was turned on.
I tried rebooting, changing frequencies, even tried changing the wifi channel in my router, nothing continued to show up on the wifi list. After trying to find out what was going on for a couple of minutes I thought id try to add my network manually and i did, entered the SSID and the password and for my surprise it connected just fine this time. I tried turning the wireless on/off to rescan because i thought it fixed itself but i couldn't find any wireless network again, except for the one i added manually. The wifi seems to work just fine, it's fast and i get full bars like i used to before but the only thing is that now it can no longer scan for networks. I did a couple of searches trying to find any solution online before coming here in google, other forums and even youtube but i couldn't find anything related to my problem. To be completely honest it doesn't bother me very much because it works just fine as is but now i cannot take the tablet with me anymore wherever i go, school/cafeteria/visiting friends/family because it no longer seems to find anything when scanning for networks unless i add them manually.
What do you guys think? Have you ever heard of something like this happening to a nexus 7 before? Do you think i should restore the tablet to see if that fixes my problem?
(My first post, but i have been lurking in the shadows since 2011)
I'm not sure if this will fix your problem but a while back I had this happen to me once. What I did was toggle the 'scanning always available' option in the advanced Wi-Fi settings. I think it was originally on but after turning it off I could see other wi-fi hotspots. Try see if toggling this option helps.
Sounds like a setting of your router is causing this. The setting to hide your router's SSID. That can easily be switched on or off.

Hi.
Since a few weeks I have a strange problem with my Wifi connection.
When I'm at home and turn on Wifi everything works fine for some time and my M9 connects to my Wifi. But after some time (haven't found a rule, sometimes after 1 hour, sometimes after 5 hours, etc) the wifi connection is lost and my network is no longer listed in the list of available networks. It also seems like the list of available networks is getting shorter the longer wifi is turned on.
If I turn of wifi and turn it on again after a few seconds my network is found immediately and the phone connects without any problems.
I'm not 100 percent sure but bluetooth seems to have almost the same problem and the phone no longer connects to my smartwatch until i turn off and on bluetooth. Sometimes it is also ok to turn off and on bluetooth to get my wifi back running.
The problem started to exist on lollipop and is also present on mm. I already did a factory reset but it didn't seem to help.
Anyone experiencing the same problem or has any clue what it could be? Maybe a hardware problem?
Kind regards,
TeQuiLLaXY
Perhaps a router problem ?? Or a service provider issue with WIFI ?
Does the device connect with other WIFI signals other than your primary signal ?
Just a few other areas to check beyond the device that can be overlooked...g

Hi gregsarg, thankfs for your reply.
The router doesn't seems to have a problem since other devices have no problem to connect to it. Service provider has nothing to do with wifi, the phone is not connecting to the wifi it has no problems accessing the internet via wifi when it shows it's connected. Also the connection can be established as soon as i disable and reenable wifi on my phone for about a second.
I don't have access to the other networks that are around my home so I can't check if it connects to other networks, it's just strange that the device does not show my network in the list of available networks after it has lost connection. If I disable and reenable wifi on the phone it immediately shows my wifi in the list of available networks. SSID is not hidden...
Could be hardware related...
And you could RUU back to stock and test again to rule out a software issue...g
