Switching from note 2, need your opinion - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Friends,
My note 2 is dying and I have decided to switch to new phone.
Could you please suggest recent good ones?
I was thinking of Nexus 6
Any opinions?

Once Note, forever Note
So go for Note 4, Note Edge or Note 5.

Considering the Nexus 6 price drop, thats probably what I'd pick
But if money is not a concern, why not the Note 4/5 ? The S-pen has its moments. I think I would definitely miss it if/when I switch to a non-Note phone
PS: Note 2 dying ? I dont believe that, unless you broke it or something

My Note II, is almost still as good as new, so I wanted to try something even bigger this time over? so I'm using the Huawei X2 for the last 2 months now with the expectation that will return back to my Note once it's proven that the X2 is too big for daily use, but none of that happened so far?.

I draw alot on my note and use the s pen alot.
I had Note 1 and now Note 2. Use both frequently for S Note.
I must say the S Note in Note 2 is considerably faster.
Just one thing and i dont know its reason. Opening pen-selection tool takes around 3-4 seconds in note 2. I dont know why. Everything is else sax

[Q] Buy the galaxy note 2 now or wait for the 3?

Hello
I'm kind of in the market to buy a new smartphone, but i would not have any problems waiting if something where soon to be out.
So my question is, should i get the Galaxy note II now or wait for the Galaxy Note III?
Any concrete rumors about the Note III, or any rumors about a release date? Is it going to be fall before we see a new note?
Oh and one last question does the Note II support USB OTG?
Thanks

Don't expect the Note 3 to be released until Q4 2013. The Note 2 does support USB OTG.
I would recommend you buy the Note 2 now unless your current phone is less than 1.5 years old.
Note 2 its just a key to the technology the best smartphone on the market.

I just bought the note 2 and will buy the 3 if it is a worthy replacement

There is no assured information on the Note III, all we can say for sure is that Samsung will try to make the Note III much better than the note II. If you're in a hurry to get a phone I'll highly recommend getting the Note II. That's the best phone I've ever used and I've used quite a few including the Galaxy S III.
Yes the Note II has USG OTG
I currently own a Note II and and like it very much. If the Note III turns out to be much better than the note II in certain ways, I'll be getting the Note III too.
Here are some features that are expected to be improved in the Note III.
1. Better resolution screen, maybe 1080P
2. Better camera, maybe 13MP
3. Better and faster processor, likely the Exynos octa
4. Hopefully they make a 64GB and 128GB internal storage options available.
5. I'm also hoping they will redesign it and make it look more premium
6. Expect updates in the software department with a lot of improvement on the current features and addition of new features
7. Hopefully much better batter life (the Note II currently has the best battery life of any smartphone I know of except the Razr Maxx)
As to when it will be released, not one really knows for now. I imagine if not delays ensue, it should be released any time from the 2nd to the 3rd quarter of this year.
If you play the "wait for the next model" game, you will never buy a new phone.
Get the Note 2.. You will not be disappointed..
The note 2 is one of the best devices you can get right now in terms of screen size, CPU/GPU speeds, Innovative and usefull features an functions like the Spen and its apps..
Get the Note 2 now and sell it when the Note 3 is released that's if its worth upgrading when the Note3 comes out < Thats what I'm going to do... Plus high end Samsung devices hold there price well

This and also, I've read somewhere (sadly don't remember where) that there wouldn't be much differences between the note 2 and 3, slightly larger screen size and a few minor improvements but nothing big really. At least nothing that will render your note 2 obsolete.
Two rumoured release dates for killer Note III
I’ve read two lines of rumours for the Note III release date: one would be the expected release time about 12 months or less after the release of the Note II. The release date is likely to be announced at the Berlin IFA in September.
The other line of rumour, which I even read late in 2012 is that Samsung was pushing the Note III release date early in 2013. IBTimes.com has this to say today “Samsung recently tweeted that the Galaxy Note 3 official release date will occur during the annual Mobile World Congress this February 24 through 28 in Barcelona, Spain.”
I would wait until that event is over to make your decision. I am (and S IV memory size as a predictor).
I’m personally waiting for a 64 Gb or 128 Gb internal memory model. If the Note II had that, I would have bought it already. If the Note III still doesn’t have decent memory, I’ll may buy a cheap 6’’ quad core Chinese knockoff for around $250 and wait for the Note IV. I’ve read sad rumours that Samsung is going to stick to the current 16 Gb or 32 Gb memory sizes for the S IV and Note III. This is surprising because Samsung produced new 64 Gb and 128 Gb chips late last year. (I’ve read the 64 Gb Note II sold briefly in Korea had technical problems, it didn’t sell well too for poor Koreans).
The Note III is rumoured to have a 6.3’’ screen, two quad cores for performance & considerable battery saving, and a bigger battery anyhow. Samsung also have stated the S IV and Note III will have the best camera ever on a phone. It’s a big chunk, that wasn’t ready for the S III and Note II. The Note III will be a killer – if it has big memory. Yes it will be worth waiting for.
Wait if you not in a hurry. Else get Note 2 now.
Same here, buy now---think later.

It all depends on whether you can hold on to a device even after a new and better version of it comes out. If you really like the Note 2 just get it. The Note 3 will be amazing mostly... and all of us will be tempted but not all of us can shift devices. Technology is so advanced when the Note 3 comes out, and after 3-4 months of using it, there will be rumors of a Note 4 or maybe even better.
Personally I am going to stick with the Note 2 for a very long time. The perfect device at the moment - for my needs atleast.

Bought note 2 two months ago and I never looked back since then. Best buy I made so far regarding cell phones. I'd suggest u buy something when u need it. Postponing purchase based on whats coming wont make u happy really for in the end of the day even if note 3 comes out tomorrow u will still argue with urself if u should wait for the next note 4 and so on. And again u will know that all u have will be maybe less than 8 to 12 months before the even newer model comes out. Meantime while u will be in anguish of what to do and when to buy, which model, those of us who are lucky enough to have this brilliant smartphone will be happy owners and feel joy with our device.
Best regards.

Every day you wait arguing with yourself whether to get it or wait, you are losing its novelty. Get the Note 2, and use it enjoy it and you can even wait for the Note 3 while you're at it.

Is it safe to assume that Samsung will continue to improve battery life on the note 3?

It is my assumption and understanding that mobile phone manufacturers always try to increase battery life based on the current technology available.

[Q] New Samsung Galaxy Note device: Note 2 or 3?

Hello,
I'm getting rid of my old Nokia n900 and looking into the world of Android devices.
Right now I'm in between Note 2 and Note 3. Regarding KNOX, eFUSE and rooting, which Note should I chose over the other one and why?
Is the Note 2 software-wise on the same level as the Note 3? With custom ROM's it seems to be but that would trigger eFUSE/KNOX and void the guarantee?
Thanks a lot!
Note 2 is better ....Note 3 might have extra features bt u can get them on note 2 by rooting.
Note 2 right now has gr8 on price
And also note 3 is unstable..

i really dont know which place u belong to but i will be referring to india for the time being..
Comparing the phones is not actually the right thing..
Those who have a NOTE 2 dont find it WORTH upgrading to a Note 3..!!
Having said this.. Note 2 costs 26-28 k depending on the place you are located in india..!
Note 3 costs 44-47 K again depending on state to state..!
so the difference is pretty huge..!
Note 2 is getting kitkat which is the latest android version for the time being.. But it is not getting any of the Note 3 features..!
And as far as my eperience goes with samsung KK 4.4.2 will be the last update for Note 2
Note 3 has already got kitkat official now..!
So u will be rooting a Note 2 triggering knox or voding warranty ( if it has 4.3 Out of the box) else u wont trigger knox and find a way around like we all have done here..!
and u will flash Note 3 pack to have a note 3 feel..!
So my take is If u can afford (i could not) Go for a Note 3 directly and stick to it for some time.. For me Note 3 is the only touchwiz phone i have not seen lagging till date..!!
Cheers..!

Thanks for your replies! As I don't own either of them it won't be an upgrade but a start from scratch.
I've found an unused Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with T-Mobile branding for € 250. I guess that's a bargain.
A new Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7105 LTE will be € 329 cheapest from a shop, used ones are around € 260 on Ebay.
Looking forward to get that Note 3 - I was looking for a black one and this is white but no questioning for the price.
I think it is a good deal.................. go ahead

S5 vs Note 2 vs Note 3

Is there anything on the s5 or the note 3 that I cannot do on my note 2(rooted and on custom ROM off course) ?
I know that the infrared remote thing and the s health things dont wprk.
The camera is not THAT good but its good enough for normal use
The battery in Note2 is better than s5.(I'm not very sure though)
And off course the stylus..too useful for me
My sister is looking to buy a new phone. Note 2 is the cheapest of these.. Should we consider note 2 then ?
Hello ,
Yeah ofcourse , Note 3 and S5 are honestly very costly . If you buy a Note 2 and root it and install BlackTox Rom or DN3 Rom then it becomes an ultimate gadget . When I bought Note 2 it was the latest flagship . But as Samsung every year releases 2 flagships , Note 2 became old . Then these revolutionary ROMs were created by our respectful devs which gave a lifeline to my note 2 and I'm very satisfied with it . If your sister doesn't hesitate in buying Note 2 , then I would definitely recommend that you should go for Note 2 :thumbup:

I agree with what Aeyan said but one thing we should keep in mind Note II won't see the next big android release since Google will stop supporting it soon.Compared to Note 3 which will get 5.0 for sure. So if you do root your sister's phone and such the latest version she can be on will be 4.4.2 or 4.4.3.So Note 3 might be a better investment compared to Note II.

I agree..so arent the ports as good? I'm sorry I'm still a beginner
For eg: my old phone was an sk17i. I broke the screen on that one but on the dev page there's always a new 4.4 rom

The current ports are awesome but most of us have had our phones for around a year if not more.So most likely we'd upgrade to note 4 this fall. We've been happy with what the developers are offering but since it's a TW based ROM,samsung has to depend on supporting our phone and then samsung tweaks it to add their stuff and releases to us.If you would only want to flash AOSP rom on note II then I am sure AOSP/CM developers will support note II for atleast another year easily but with AOSP rom you lose the functionality of many Samsung features like S note and other Samsung related software.
note2 does not have gorilla glass AFAIK..
For software features, almost all note 2 can have.
aah thanks!! but I just cant decide if 43k for a note 3 is worth it..note 2 was 27k last yr when I bought it and its 28k now.. No fall in price

Are there any note tablets on par

My note 4 is defective or something, So i bought me a different phone. but i still use my note 4 as a tablet at home only. I was thinking of selling my note 4 to get a note tablet, are any of the tablets on par?
Ive played with the tab s, and it was great but ive come to really like my spen and multitasking on my note 4. I know note tablets are a bit older than the note 4 but would any of them be a decent replacement?
I too am curious about this. I still use my note but I am one for uniformity and right now I have an lg gpad LTE which is a great size but I got it when I was using an lg g2. Im going to do some research
