Of course. ..but there are risks and consequences if you do. ..
First is root...and while rooting 4.4.2 is simple. ..it "will" trip your Knox counter and render your device warranty null and void...
If you don't mind losing warranty. ..then you have many custom rom options available to you. ..
But before any flashing starts...you need to familiarize yourself with the terminology of flashing firmware images. ..and understand what to do if you get into trouble. ..
The development section for our note 2 device has several threads you should read. ..
Start with the CF AUTO ROOT thread from "chainfire"...As this thread is the preferred method of rooting this device. ..
Once you have learned the basics...and understand how the process works. ..you will have gained control over your device and will be empowered to dig deeper into the device and make it your own. ..
But again. ..I can't emphasize enough. . The importance of "reading for comprehension"...
These devices are complex machines that need the right software running in all of the right places or havoc will soon follow. ..

[HELP THREAD] Galaxy Note 2 AT&T Stuck in "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue"
I am in really deep doo doo right now. I was trying to root my AT&T Galaxy Note 2 (SGH-i317) and about halfway through my pc screen turns off and when I turned it back on, Odin said FAIL so when I rebooted my phone it got stuck into the firmware upgrade issue crap.
So I do as it tells me and open Kies and try to start Recovery mode but it just keeps saying "Connecting" and never connects
Now I look online for help and then try to update with Kies
Guess What:
No Help
So then I try to get the firmware .md5 for it but since I'm at 4.4.2 right now, and there's no 4.4.2 firmware available (as far as i know) I can't downgrade.
So now I am stuck here with a useless phone begging for help.
So PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
I realize there may be other threads like this ( that's where I looked for help) but I really need help and I am super desperate for it

Just flash this to get the phone working again then use cf auto root or what ever you used and make sure the screen doesn't shut off again lol

There for a bit i thought i messed it up for good but just the bootloader was missing or messed up i went to at&t to get a new one and while i was i downloaded xda on the padfone x phone and saw something to try lmao

Ok so now the same problem happened again but instead I tried to flash stock firmware and it failed, no matter which firmware I downloaded they all failed. So I used the file you gave me and It worked....sorta. It boots up and gets to the AT&T logo then stops there. I cleared cache and data and even reflashed but it still just gets stuck there. I can get to recovery but i can't get on to my actual OS. You are a miracle worker from the last one so I am hoping you can do the same with this one!

Hey guys,
I'm using LG G3 installed BlissRom. Now, I decide to use stock ROM and unroot it.
I cannot find the information in a topic how to unroot it.
P.S. I try to use LGUP for flash the stock ROM. Unfortunately, It's found my model as unknown and doesn't allow me to continued.
When you flash the stock rom, it takes way the root privileges. Just flash the stock rom
