I am on CWS__001 and old bootloader with a custom rom. The phone has unlocked bootloader with S-off. I would like to install CM12.1 which is asking me to upgrade to 3.19 bootloader.
Can somebody please tell me what I need to do to upgrade the bootloader to 3.19? What I understood is I need to relock the bootloader and flash the HTC firmware. If you can confirm and point me to the right firmware and relock, would greatly appreciate it.
This thread should help you since you're s-off...

The phone is S-on

Yeah, Verizon doesn't like people unlocking the bootloaders.
Verizon users used to be able to unlock with Weaksauce or Firewater, but the exploits for those methods have been patched.
Sunshine S-Off is the only method that works now that I know of. It'll cost $25.
Yep but Sunshine doesn't work (yet) for Verizon One M8 on Lollipop. I hope they get that working before the next Android update comes out.

They didn't get it working yet? I thought they would have. Verizon is the worst. So many issues.

I had the same issue. I got the 4.20.531.4 RUU to run no problem. I just took the OTA when I kept getting 155 error.
No clue... has anyone installed via RUU successfully?
Same problem. Any help?

I had the same issue and screwed around with it for hours trying to figure it out. Ended up flashing this firmware: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24369303960686131
then rerunning the RUU. Went through fine. Not saying it will work for you, but it worked for me.
I'm stock 5.0.2 with S-On and have never been rooted or unlocked the bootloader (my mother in laws phone) and I get this same error 155 when trying to use the RUU for Marshmallow that I downloaded from HTC. I think the problem is because the OTA that pops up is to prep for Marshmallow but after it installs and reboots it soft bricks the phone and I have to do a factory reset from the bootloader which causes the OTA to never finish so I'm screwed, any ideas?

Flash signed firmware 6.20.531.5 from here (instruction on how to flash at the bottom of the post), then RUU.
The post before yours has it right. But the unsigned firmware linked in that post will only work with s-off. The signed firmware I linked to will work with s-on.
Thank you so much, I'll try that!

I flashed the signed 6.20.531.5 following the instructions from the link and then used the MM RUU again and it finally worked! Thanks so much!
Thanks a lot, it's worked for my HTC One M8.
:good:
I flashed the signed firmware and it worked thank you SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!
So, I got an HTC One M8 of a friend of mine. I tried to repair the phone as it was in a bootloop. However, even after installing several different roms it wouldn't start. I noticed another strange thing; Whenever I want to go from the bootloader to recovery, it takes absolutely ages (read: 10-15 minutes) to actually get to this. I tried it with a custom recovery as well as the stock recovery. This makes me think it has something to do with the CPU?
So far I've tried different ROMs, a nandroid backup, updating my firmware and (unsuccesfully) finding a RUU file for my HTC M8. I have included the getvar information for further possible details:

I posted the getvar in another thread in which other people also posted theirs, so I accidentally copied someone else's info!
And I was afraid of that as I have been looking for it as well... Is there maybe a generic RUU file that works for most m8 devices?

no every device variant have it's own RUU ( available or not )
your best solution ( i'm afraid it's the only ) is to restore a stock backup then flash the signed firmware

yea, just tried this again, didn't work, was stuck again on the o1ne screen after the vodafone logo. after installing a custom rom (android revolution HD 53.1) it was also stuck on the same screen. the last time it was stuck on this screen, it didn't get any further after a full 8+ hours of waiting. I waited for an hour on both flashings, but nothing at all...
Thanks for assisting me so far anyway

Flash what? "Flash" just means to install some software. Could be custom ROM, stock ROM, RUU, SuperSU, or any number of other things.
Since you describe the phone as stuck on HTC logo screen, I assume you want to flash stock ROM/RUU, or a custom ROM? But you need to be specific as what you want.
Did you unlock the bootloader? Did you install a custom recovery (TWRP) and do you have access to that now (does it boot to TWRP if you select recovery from bootloader menu).

Not sure what you mean by "again". Did you specifically have s-off in the past? The word "again" implies this. But I don't recall if dual SIM M8 ever had s-off or not. In any case, s-off needs a working OS for the sunshine app to work. And a lot of folks that think they need s-off, really do NOT. So again, we need to know what you are trying to do (with s-off in this case).
Also, you should delete serial number, IMEI and IMEI2 from your post. These are personal info, that should never be posted online, and not needed by us to help you.
It was propably dumb of me to relock bootloader. I wanted to flash stock ROM and there was a guide somewhere on this forum to relock bootloader during the process of flashing stock ROM. Is there any way to unlock bootloader and make it S-OFF?
