maybe i never noticed this but does anyone else notice when you double tap to put the phone to sleep, the screen goes to black and white briefly before going black?
I ask because yesterday i plugged in a generic USB cable and the phones screen showed the big huge battery logo as empty even though the phone was at 65% charge. I had to reboot to clear that issue and ever since then i noticed the screen goes black and white when i double tap or tap power to make it goto sleep.
Im still under my 30 day return period so i dont know if this is something i just didnt notice before or if i should be concerned - thanks!

The screen going to black and white before turning off is actually just part of the animation. It looks pretty cool imo
Plugging in a generic cable won't charge the device at the regular rate, which might be the reason for the other icon you saw. The battery stats can be messed up at times. A few minutes charging/discharging and they are back to normal.

So my friend started charging her phone, and an hour later when she checked, it was turned off, and extremely hot. We haven't been able to turn it back on since then, it doesn't do anything, take battery out, put it back in, tried home + power + volume with battery, and without just straight with charger and nothing. What do you guys think it might have happened? I don't want to think her phone is done for lol.

Does the battery look messed up? Does it have a bump or something on it?
Also, worst case scenario, if she's stock.. send it to Samsung.
Maybe somehow either the phone fried or your battery did... He mightve left something open that was running on the background and it mightve got it hot... Thats what happened to me... But it didn't do that.. I quit wtever was running on the background, let it cool off and started charging it... So yea

Nope, nothing on the battery, checked everything, we might have to send it to Samsung, faulty phone? Maybe, phone was working perfect (she bought it in March) up until last night.

A tricky issue
I'm having a slightly different problem..
till last night the Phone was OK..was charging..in the morning I found it dead..well turned off I would say..
I came to office put it on charging..
a battery appears in the middle of the screen with a circle inside it (as usual). After that a battery with about 5% juice (Green Liquid) shows up in the middle of the screen (again, as usual) and has 5 points underneath it..which animate from grey to white, and left to right (again, as usual)
but the thing is, the phone doesn't seem to charge and is not powering up.. I even tried the recovery mode and download mode but simply wont power up.
might as well mean that the battery is fried..just wanted to ask you guys if I am correct.
Im using Xperi-z-ied rom
I bought an OEM battery for my Dinc2 from eBay. It didn't look like it was charging, but I left it in there for a few hours. The phone never turned on with the new battery. So I took it out and put the old battery back in (which had a 100% charge)...and now the phone goes to the htc white screen and then goes to black. When I try to turn it back on, nothing. I take the battery back out, and I can turn it on again, but again it only goes to the htc screen and then goes to black.
I can hold power + power down to get into the boot screen. Recovery goes to htc, then black. Factory reset goes to htc, then black.
Is it possible that a bum battery killed my phone?

Sounds like your charging port is broken in my professional opinion. Even if the indicator shows the red light on the top, it does not mean the device is charging. The reason why it turns on and goes black in my opinion is, that it gave you a false charge on the battery when you charged it and won't turn on properly. You're able to go to the Boot menu because it hardly takes any battery life. I'm a cell phone technician, but that's just a guess from what you've told me. It could be a totally different reason. It's a very easy fix if that's the case. The charging port is on a flex cable and you can purchase it for about $5. As long as you know how to open the device properly, you'll be fine. If not seek a professional.

Thanks for your assessment. I guess what I don't understand is how the charging port could break with a discharged/faulty battery? When I first plugged the battery in, it made the orange light blink a few times, which I know is a signal that the battery is really low.

The charging port is really fragile, not much holding it down, especially since its on a flex. I'm not sure if this is against the forum rules or not, you can send it to me if you would like, and I'll be more than happy to fix it for you. Just pay shipping, part and labor. Part and labor $20 and you can use whatever shipping method you would like. Just give me labels to get here and back. You can take it to any repair center near you and they will probably charge you about $50-70. That would decrease the amount of time from the shipping, but it's totally up to you.
Hello guys,
My phone suddenly turned off and can't turn on since, the led doesn't show that it's charging either, tried entering into boot menu, with volume and power buttons but nothing happens. The only thing that happens is when I plug the charger into phone without battery, the screen becomes blue...

Sounds like you need a new battery. I just changed my battery last week. If your battery is more than a year old, you definitely need a new battery.

warranty still covers? if not...id go with a new phone
Out of warranty for quite some time, found a motherboard from a phone with broken display for like ~50$ as i think it's the mobo. I can't afford right now another phone, so my best shot is this one if it's indeed the motherboard
Hey same thing just happened to me did you fix the problem yet? if so how?
Looks to me like a blue screen of death, in that case need to replace the motherboard

So I lost everything on my phone? Picture and stuff?
Before the phone turning brick, I was having these weird blue screen glitches that took almost half of the screen. It would stop after a few seconds, but this type of "glitch" happened a few times. 2 days later, I was on the home screen and the phone screen turned fully blue. It didn't go away so I took out the battery. After that the phone turned on with the boot logo but then shutdown itself. Now the phone won't turn on, charge, go to recovery, or go to download mode. Is there any way to fix this? (I don't have insurance on this :/)
(FIXED) It was "fixed" by leaving it charging, but now the blue screen showed up again. Now phone is probably damaged internally :/

There is no solution to blue screen glitches.it is caused by a current IC that draws more current and heats up within 3 5 seconds. I lost one mobile in this game. I feel sorry for you too, it is hardware issue and won't get any repair.

What is "IC"? Also the phone turned on finally last night but when I connected it to a charger the same blue screen happened and now I can't turn it on again. Thanks for the information though

IC means integrated circuit. It's basically an electronic chip.
BSOD Fix
I had the same issue and was able to fix it temporarily for a few weeks but in the end I had to replace the motherboard from a donner phone. I had a lg d850 att and swapped out the mother board with a d851 from T-Mobile phone I found that had a broken screen and it worked fine after some tweaking. As far as your temporary fix (maybe permanent in your case idk) I took out my motherboard and put it in the oven at 385 degrees and baked it for 10 minutes let it cool off and reinstalled it. Phone came right up and worked like normal. Use some aluminum foil balls to put the motherboard on to keep it off of the surface in your oven that you put the motherboard on. That's it!

Fixed the wifi / bluetooth issue it was from something bugged in the software!
Hi,
I just installed a new battery into my OnePlus 3, because the old one was starting to bulge and push against the screen.
After installing the new battery and attempting to boot with the charger plugged in, the phone won't boot past the 1+ screen.
It buzzes, shows the 1+ screen for a while and then goes dark and buzzes again etc. If I pull out the charger cable it goes dark instantly.
If I hold down the volume down button and the power button for 30sec it boots and shows a warning screen saying "Battery too low. Charge for a while before powering on". However, this screen only shows for a split second before going dark again.
I added a photo of the same screen on a different phone that I found online as the screen really disappears within a few milliseconds on my phone:
https://ibb.co/zJJ4fMf
Does anyone know what this means? Is the new battery faulty and should I return it? Is there something I should do to reset something? Can it be that it is simply not properly connected?
Any help is welcome! Thanks
you should leave the phone and let it charge until 100%

I let it charge all night, but obviously it is not charging...
is there anything important on the device
Just opened up my phone to put the old battery back in and that's when I saw that the connector had gotten loose. :silly:
There were some small pieces of tape on the original battery's connector that are supposed to hold it in place, so I fabricated my own out of Scotch. Hopefully that will hold the connector in place.
ok get back to me because i want to know if you have solved this
