Well, the only reason I'm running it instead of Apex is the ability to change icons. That's a pretty big thing for me.

Thanks for the info
i pretty much just buy anything Kevin makes... lol... got it on my prime, works AWESOME. and even when ics becomes mainstream, this app will still hold its own for all the extra features it offers that the stock launcher wont...
Setting it up to my taste now as well. I have a feeling I may be buying it soon enough. Wish hiding apps was on the free version but again incentive to buy the prime version. See what else is coming first though!

anything Kevin makes is pure gold, and has his endless support. it will definitely be worth it, if nothing else than to give him a small donation in order to keep him working on awesome things like this for android. ESPECIALLY since he ran a free open beta on it for so long... just sayin

Home Smack (MUCH better than home switcher, IMHO)
TeslaLED (most widely compatible torch app ive found)
Purchased Prime, this guys a BEAST.
I have to agree. I think it will be worth it. I just realized the market name and widgetlocker makes it all worth while. Now this. For sure getting prime!
I didnt realize this is the same developer that created widgetlocker.

I guess my little one line post went unnoticed last night...lol. I have been using Nova Launcher on my NS4G since v4. It was constantly updated finally to v15 and then 1.0 and the Market last night. Its very battery friendly, full of options and looks like the stock ICS launcher with a bunch of great extras. I will be buying the paid version today for my NS4G this way I already have it when I jump to ICS on this phone

I was just looking at that and wow! I def want it!
I honestly think this is the best place to ask this. The Q+A Thread is ridiculous!
Is there any chance of someone creating a multi-DPI Phone.apk?
I know there was one for GB ROMS.
I personally think this is the only thing letting stock ROMS down at the moment!

Check Zeta Classic rom and use it with any dialer from market. I am using ExDialer with Zeta Classic, works great at 192 DPI.
This one works with my phone on 160 dpi. Flash on cwm.
This question interests me too, but i can't find a solution yet.

Oops. I didn't realize that you stated stock rom. The zip is for aokp. I'm not really sure if it works for samsung roms.

Thinking of using Rocketdial
Although the ICS Theme costs.
Anyone used Rocketdial, or know of a decent 3rd party app for a dialer with ICS look?
You can try exDialer. It has an ics theme.

As some of you may know, odexed roms offer better battery life and superior performance compared to deodexed roms, but the one drawback is that they're harder to mod. I was looking for a odexed rom (coming from the HTC One X, almost all stock roms were odexed, so I expected the same, lol) but couldn't find a single one. So I went on a search to find a script or something to odex the rom I was using, and I came across this!
"Odex Me" by Paulobrien! Here's the link to the original thread, all credit goes to him! :good:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1215271
Now here's where my part comes in, my step-by-step guide!
This will work on ANY DEODEXED ROM, I'm compiling a list of confirmed ones however for you guys that are weary of this.
*Use this only AFTER you've made any changes to the framework or flashed .zips that change the framework.*
First and foremost, make a backup! You should always do this before messing with system files!
1) Make sure you have a rooted rom, without root the app won't do much but install.
2) Allow "Unknown sources" by going into Settings > Security > and scroll down.
3) Download the .apk either down below, or from the link above.
4) Install as a normal app.
5) Open the app, make sure you give it root access, and it will run.
6) Let it run, it will reboot your phone, take around 5-10 minutes, and then reboot again. You will be greeted by "Android is upgrading" which means its rebuilding your dalvik cache.
7) Once its at the lock screen, done! You can make sure it did its job by using a file explorer with root access (I use Root Browser, if that helps) and go to the root of your phone's memory, go to system > app, and you should see a bunch of "appnamehere".odex files.
You will see a noticeable increase in performance with all the system apps like Messaging, Phone, Browser, etc. And because all the base apps are now odexed, you will also see an increase in battery life as well.
List of ROMs confirmed working
FreeGS3 R6 (confirmed by me, using it currently)
Intrigue ROM
Crimson v4
Wicked v2 (confirmed by as well, check post #48 for screen shots)
Let me know if you think there's a way to make the guide more clear, or add some information in. I will also try and answer all questions you may have! Enjoy this, its truly amazing!
If you're having issues with it not odexing on ANY rom, try using the Trinity kernel. I've tested every rom with Morfic's kernel and it works flawlessly. Don't forget to thank him for his work! :good:
Trinity Kernel, use the latest #46 release for best results and speed.
Please, if it worked for you, let us know what rom you're running so others can be assured that it works!
Here are some sources that explain the benefits of odexing in more technical and specific terms.

Because it splits the .apk (app package) into two parts, the .apk and a .odex file. Usually, for the phone to use an app, it has to decompile the .apk and get the parts it needs to run the app. With the odex files, which stands for "Optimized Dex" the startup time is much faster since the phone doesn't have to perform any optimizing at startup/runtime, and because of that, it also uses less CPU power, and thus makes it faster, smoother, and battery life is increased.

Eh. Im always the guy running stock odexed. But reodexing seems a little...idk. Awesome that you would bring this over though, i know in the one x section you are hard pressed to find a deodexed rom.

Well after flashing a deodex rom (all the roms here) and any add ons, running this to make the phone faster and increase battery life is nothing short of amazing. Don't have to compromise over customization, or performance.
And yeah, its because of the One X that I realized the benefits lol
I personally prefer odexed roms as well because of the overall smoothness. But I really wanted the features of some custom Roms. This app is perfect...thank you for sharing!

It did everything but when you go exploring with a root browser, you don't see any odex files? Or it didn't even reboot? We need more man.

I'm naturally inclined to initially get the gpe edition, but I was basing that on the assumption the custom roms would be compatible between it and the regular version.... That appears to be incorrect because all the roms are listing v500 only. I naturally assumed development would be stronger on the gpe edition. So basically I'm looking to replace me broken Nexus 7, and I want this tablet. Are there future limitations between the 2? The gpe is obviously easier to root/unlock, but that appears to be a non issue because the regular is unlocked too. I'm a total flash-a-holic and must have a "fun" tablet. Would really like to hear your opinions...
At the moment the v500 is getting all the love.
I've been testing a v510 ish rom for Demetris. The hurdle atm is to get wifi working.
I was originally a bit miffed when the US got the gpe and the UK didn't, but right now it was a good thing.
In time that could all change but for now I would have to say the v500 is the way to go.
Sent from my LG-V500 using XDA Premium HD app
If you read through the Roms for the 500, it seems that all of them have some sort of issues.
The gpe is great, no problems, easy to root and use xposed to tweak.
There is also a how to in the development section on flashing your own kernel to tweak it even more.
for instance I can now change the gamma coloring on my glad, and have set a different governors default. that was after 2 minutes of playing with the menu config file for the kernel. Custom Roms are overrated when you can do it yourself:good:
How have you changed gamma? Is there a kernel for the v500 where gamma can be adjusted

I wrote a tutorial for the g pad g510 (gpe) edition on compiling your own kernel. This sounds more compicated than it is.
On the second post of the thread I show where the setting is in the menuconfig for the kernel. This guide works without issue. I only changed a couple of items in mine, one of them being the gamma adjustment option.
Hoping others will take an interest! Here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2628951
For the 510, anybody could compile their own kernel to share for the gpad so long as they list their changes etc...

I would think that you could do everything but flash it back on to your device using my guide. This is because I use flashboot to push it to my device and apparently this cannot be done on the 500. However, you can definitely get the boot.emmc.win image ready to go.
I wanted a V510 but I'm in the UK and settled for a V500. Glad I did. There are numerous 4.4 ROMs but I actually prefer the LG skin and apps (in particular, Qpair is nice (once you get it working)).

I miss the old times. Few years ago that firmware would "leak" weeks before release as "not final" and after official release it would appear that "final" have the same checksum. Ehh..

i agree, but it seems like small text isn't considered a problem, it's just the way it is. for some reason tablets just seem to have smaller text than phones. it boggles my mind lol, but maybe there is a reason from a coding standpoint, or else most people would prefer to fit more information on the larger screen, rather than just have a larger version of a phone display. it's possible we are in the minority here.
i feel like at least the Galaxy Note series scales things up perfectly. i really love that smartphone line!
Seriously..It's just ridiculous that we have to wait for such long time...so annoyed

It is one reason why I prefer cyanogenmod. I can change the system DPI. Also, theme.
The only thing I miss from stock ROM is the color inversion. CM has it but it slows down the display horribly and it looks washed out.
Yes it's annoying because it's out for the T800/5 and you think surely there can't be much difference with the update. Especially as Samsung have marketed as the same, except t700 the same but compact..
Or we could look at it as the t800 users beta testing for us.
Fwiw i just released an unofficial 5.1 build for the t700 in od

However, it out of topic, I must said in this small thread:

As so mush people use it, it must be my mistake (I do not know what kernel...)
I think cm has great perspective- small, clean, almost unified on all devices, always updated...

Its unfortunate you had a bad experience with free open source software. I accept pull requests if you believe there is an improvement.
It could have also been useful to read the thread. The issue you experienced was likely due to live display being enabled and the battery calibration probably needed to be redone.
As for being off topic, I thought this thread was about lollipop on the t700 which i was just sharing my work in this area.
No. It must be my error, I said already. Definitely I will try again in perspective...
