I've tried looking up a solution to this but can't find anything anywhere, I've also been trying to fix it all weekend.
Friday night my phone's battery ran out, yeah whatever, I'll just throw it on the charger. Plugged it in, and the screen that normally indicates you should plug your phone should come up. It's an empty battery with a lightning bolt inside of it. A few seconds later, the red "This Build is for Development Purposes Only..." stuff that comes up because of the custom ROM shows up at the bottom of the screen. After a few seconds, the screen turns off. It then repeats this from charge me icon, showing red text, then repeating. I'll be referring to this as Boltlooping.
So the first solution I found was to reset the battery logic by holding vol up/down and power for a few minutes. I rubber banded the buttons down and tried it. Nothing.
Second solution, plugging it in and immediately holding power button hoping it would boot. I tried this 5-6 times. Nothing. I've also attempted booting in to bootloader and recovery from this screen.
Occasionally, however, something that I can't identify or reproduce causes it to go to the normal charging screen. Trying to boot it from here from any battery % puts it back in to a boltloop. I've also tried doing the battery logic reset from this screen, but it doesn't work and puts it back in to bootloop. After trying to do either of these methods and getting back to the normal charging screen, the battery will be back at 1%.
This is as far as I've gotten with troubleshooting. I can get to the normal charging screen, though the battery will die and reset the charge % if unplugged or an attempt to boot is made. Most of its time, however, is spent in this boltloop state. I've tried resetting battery logic, booting in to recovery, booting in to bootloader, and booting normally from both the boltloop and charging states. Nothing. I don't know what to do.
Did you ever find a fix? Same issue here.

ok so earlier today my s3 ran out of battery and shut off. I attempted to charge it, but noticed the red indicator light wasn't on. I tried to turn the device on, but all it did was vibrate and show the battery level logo with the circle in the middle as if its computing the battery level, then shuts back off. most of the time it will just vibrate and loop the samsung logo and then shut off again. sometimes it also shows that my battery is nearly fully charged after i left it on the charger while i was in class, but then shuts off. the farthest it has showed anything on start up was the at&t logo with the white background, then it shuts back off. i've tried to boot the phone connected to the charger and took the battery out, that didn't work. tried to take the battery out and leave it for 10 mins and put it back in, that didn't work. although it would vibrate everytime i put the battery in. i also tried to boot the phone in recovery mode. it would say recovery mode booting in blue letters, then it would go to the samsung and galaxy s3 logos, but then shut off again. also tried the download mode boot up, but i just saw the OS warning screen for a second, then it shut off.. i've ran out of ideas on what to do. hoping anyone could provide anymore advice for me. thanks in advance!
Hi everyone,
As the title says, my phone simply will not boot past the samsung logo. I insert the battery, a few seconds later there is a vibration. Then the samsung logo appears, and it shuts down. It does not reboot itself; it just suddenly dies. After it the shutdown, all buttons are unresponsive; holding the power button will do nothing.
I have tried plugging in the charger both with and without the battery inside the phone. When I plug in the charger, the red LED that indicates that it is charging turns on. After a few seconds it vibrates, then almost immediately the red LED light flickers off, and everything is just as unresponsive as before. Leaving the charger inside will yield no results or change.
I have tried to turn my phone on with the battery and charger plug into the phone with a few variations. First, charger first, then battery. The battery is inserted within a second or two of plugging in the charger. The red LED light appears, then the light turns off right before the vibration. The screen shows the battery logo that indicates the phone is charging. This image appears for a few seconds, then it becomes unresponsive as before. Second, battery first, then charger. There are two more variations for this. One is battery, then plugging in the charger right after the battery is put in (before the vibration is felt). After the vibration, the battery logo appears for a few seconds before it shuts down and becomes unresponsive again. The second variation is: battery first, then vibration, then right after the charger. Same result as before.
I have also tried to remove both sim card and sd card. No avail.
I have tried to boot it into recovery mode, as well as download mode. Nevertheless, the phone will shut down before getting into any menus.
I have tried to tap the power button multiple times in case the power button and home button were stuck or jammed. However, I doubt this is the problem.
My computer will not recognize my phone, since I cannot boot it past the samsung logo.
I have tried using different batteries, same issue.
I am aware that a factory reset may be an option that I may have to take, but I have some important data on my phone that is not backed up, and I would very much prefer not to lose it all. I would appreciate any insight on how to fix my problem.
Thanks!
Mine was doing this for a bit until I realized my power button was stuck. The button seemed to press fine and all and looked fine physically, but the contact was somehow stuck. Take apart the phone, direct some compressed air into it using the little 'straw' for the nozzle to focus it... Also try pressing the button a bunch of times hard, etc. And see if that helps.

Fixed it! Opened it up, jiggled around with the power button stuff. I had no idea what I was doing. I blew, with my mouth, really hard on it. Now it works. laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwll
You helped! Thankyou
Now would be a good time to backup that important data. A lot of the time, that's is just a temporary fix and it may happen again.

Phone can't boot at all, loops on plug in screeen & occasionally "charges"...
I've tried looking up a solution to this but can't find anything anywhere. I've been trying to fix it since last week.

Hola! Last night my phone freezed for a few seconds before shutting down. I tried to reboot with no luck. No buttons combos no charghing, nothing, not even the red led that use to blink when it happened before after shutting down. The battery was low then ,about 15% and shut down but I managed to get it working . Now I had the same percentage ,around 15-30% on battery. I let it charge for about 10 mins and then tried booting again. Power+ vol up booted and showed "Download mode" . I don't know if it was me or the phone itself but it booted and Google appeared. Then Those circles appeared and after a few moments the have frozen and the phone shut down. Attempted again with no luck. I unplugged it and let the matter for today. This morning I again tried to boot up ,after a few attempts it booted but only got the Google screen before it shut down again... I let it charge for about 2 hours but still no luck with it. Connected it to the PC ,got the sound of a new device then the error sound and message of the driver. Disconnected and connected again and I got only the driver error sound without the new device sound if I don't change the port. Interesting is that if I press any button combination or just power while connected to the computer, after about 20 seconds of pressing I get the sound of disconnected and/or driver error. That gives me hope that it's not dead at all.. Might the battery be the cause? Replacing it would be a cheaper solution without losing data...Opinions? Tips? I had 3 different dreams in which I solved the problem...but the reality is a nightmare ( Heeeelp
Well it still shows signs of litttle life: If I let it without pressing anthing ,just leave it alone for a night or more and try to boot i,the red led flashes so I plug it right away get to the battery charging screen and that's i...I still hope it's because of the battery thinking hat the battery regenerates but cannot hold for too long.
This is a strange one.
HTC 10 2PS6500, Android 8. Has been working fine. Today I took the phone out of the pocket, to find that it's been turned off. Strange, I know the battery was almost full, so it's not a power down due to low battery.
Tried to turn it on with the power button, didn't work.
Held the power and volume up + down at the same time, a few seconds later the phone vibrated and powered up. Battery at 92%. No sign of what might have happened. Phone was working. I wondered what happened but soon forgot about it.
A few hours later, I charged the phone back to 100%. While using it, the screen timed out, when I pressed the power button again, a message popped up saying "HTC recovered from an abnormal reset, send it to HTC" or something like that, and it tells me to tap it twice to send. I tapped it twice, the screen came up. I have the option of Send to HTC or Cancel. I pressed Cancel. The screen froze after that.
Buttons are unresponsive. I pressed the power and volume buttons to reset it, it went black.
Since then I have not been able to get it to respond.
Power button alone - nothing. Tried even holding in excess of 1 minute.
Power + Volume Down - nothing. Held for 10 seconds, 20 seconds, over 1 minute.
Powr + Volume Up + Volume Down - nothing. Held for different durations of time, no difference.
Connected it to a charger, no response, the light up top where it lits when charging does not light up.
It's completely unresponsive. No boot screen, no vibration, nothing at all.
Any idea what else I can try?
well some new development...
I was trying to do the hard reset on the phone periodically. Sometimes with the charger plugged in (but no light on top indicating it's taking any charge). A day later, I was doing another hard reset (not expecting it to respond) but it vibrates and boots up. Since then it has been behaving normally. Strange that battery was at 21%, when it was at 80% when the screen froze. I charged it to 100% then backed up the data while I had it on.
I got about a day of usage out of it, then while I was on a browser scrolling down on a web page, the screen froze again. Battery at 75%. After trying to reset it, the screen went black. Since then, no response on attempts to hard reset.
I have a feeling if I leave it alone for a day and try it it will come back alive.
Doing a search on the net yield nothing except I did see a post someone made saying after the screen froze had to wait till the battery drains 100%, then charge it back up and it will boot again. Is this what is happening? If it's bricked how is it consuming battery?
Anyone has any idea sure would like to hear it.
