Hy nexus friends,
I need help from someone with a 791F 32GB. I dont know if a 790 or a 16gb version is identical.
It would be great if someone with a rooted device can make a backup for me of the bootloader bin files.
aboot, sbl1, rpm, tz, sdi, sbl1b, tzb, rpmb, abootb, misc, laf, persist.
I flashed the hammerhead bootloader and stuck at 9008 mode.
It will be ver great if someone could help me.
Some partition apps could make a backup or with the dd command.
If i fet a solution, i would post it here. At the moment i had the device and the tools that i flashed for test a nexus 5 sbl. So write is possible.
Thanks for help guys
Where can I see if my phone is 791F?
i have the US Nexus 5X 32GB. Tell me what to do and I'll get you what you need.

Model number on the phone box and I believe in the bootloader screen: turn off phone then hold volume down and power.

Ok. Just rebooted into bootloader and under "Variant" it says LGH791 but no F, sorry
Thx for your help.
You can backup the partitions with some partition backup apps or with dd.
If you look with a file explorer in /dev/block/platform/soc.0/f9824900.sdhci/by-name/XXXXX , XXXX there are the partiton names.
If you want to copy with adb, make adb shell, su, and then:
dd if= /dev/block/platform/soc.0/f9824900.sdhci/by-name/cmnlib of=sdcard/cmnlib.img
Around 36 partitons are in the MM build. System, cache, userdata are not needed..

Have you found a solution to get booting again? Been searching and tried multiple methods to repair my boot image on the H791 I own.
I have worked with another XDAer who extracted and now have the bootimage files from several stock H791 files available. They include the GPT from the stock image MDA89E and the boot image files from bootloader-bullhead-bhz10i.img bootloader-bullhead-bhz10k.img and bootloader-bullhead-bhz10m.img. Let me know if you still need these. I see 11 files in the boot image. During some testing I flashed over the sbl1 on my device and lost the ability do anything but go into QUSB DL mode 9008 as well.
As I am writing this I am now wondering if there is a separate set of SBL etc. files for the International variant? We may need to extract from the 791 tot file available the needed files if we do not have another method of obtaining them. Let me know if you have found a workable way to flash the needed boot images in place. Thanks.

I'm on the same boat , hope you have something to boot it up
It's been more than 3 weeks, my 5X just brick itself . And LG doesn't support 5X in my country . I'm very very hoping you will find solution.

I think the only way from my perspective so far is to manually flash the needed QComm/boot image/boot loader files with something that can interface with the phone. I am pretty sure I know a method to manually do this but need the flash programmer that works with this device to accomplish. Or if there is a way to add MSM8992 support to the BoardDiag tool, that would work...I have not given up, just have not had a whole lot of time to work on this the past 2 days.

I see boardiag for n5 , please don't give up ?.
And i see blank flash file for N6
Try to connect the usb cable with the pressed vol up button. Normaly the lg download screen should pop up.
Its possible then to flash a tot file with the lg up tool.
But i found only one tot file around the i net.
It will be flashed but hang in the bootscreen.
A org. tot or kdz file were great or a solution to create such a file.

Yes. The FW download screen is not an option here. Seems those of us currently needing a solution or method is do to the phone being in QC emergency mode only. I can see my phone in device manager only as with the QC HUSB 9008 drivers.

I am having the BRICK problem with LG G Pro e98820c after flashing wrong rom and unplug USB during flashing process.
Now the phone is stuck at Brick qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008 mode. I have some tools such as Smart diagnosis tool, BoardDiag, Androidbrick, Qfil/QPST ....But I have no proper guide how to use them to unbrick qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008 mode.
Have you got a solution for your brick phone.
I got LG optimus G Pro e98820c bricked during flashing a kdz update. I tried to upgrade a lollipop 5.0.2 rom of korean variant F240L model. The phone has long released and used.
This is how things went wrong:
I flashed the rom, but stuck at download with no booting, then unplugged USB, then and there it went bricked.
No battery light
No download mode......Now it is totally DEAD
Luckily, when it is plugged on Windows 8, the device manager shows Qualcomm HS-USB QDloader 9008(COM15). Is this sign of the phone going back to life? How should I step forward to get back Download Mode?
I tried to test and unbrick it on BoardDiag, but it shows ...

This is the message I got from BroadDiag. but since there is no .TOT firmware for G Pro e988C, I think I can not do image extraction from .KDZ firmware. Is that right way to do image extraction from .KDZ firmware zip? I have a problem with no partition .txt file available from extraction of KDZ zip. How can i get partition .txt ?
There are KDZextractor, Can I use them? Can these image extracted from KDZ be applied in BoardDiag?
All of your answers is highly appreciated.

TOT is only for E980 AT&T variant. E988 uses KDZ. Try with BordDiag then, but I'm not sure it will work. There are some guides here in G Pro forums, but never had to use them because mine never bricked that bad. If nothing works, JTAG/repair.

Dear Shady Squirrel,
I have tried BoardDiag, but it keeps giving the following message:

I am stuck at this stage. But maybe I have no proper way of using BoardDiag.
In the instruction from the forum, the extracted files needed are ( .mbn ) file not ( .bin ) file which are extracted from KDZ.
Can you help me instruct for BoardDiag tool?
Thank a lot in advance.

Never used it - my worst brick was solved by putting device in download mode and doing a full stock reflash. Haven't managed to mess-up bootloader for 3ys I've used G Pro. Try running app as admin, KDZ should work, it's valid image - people are just referencing to tot files because they are all copy/pasting same tutorial around the webs.
In the end, it would be much smarter to just send it to service...

Thanks for your kind advice, anyway I will give it a one last try with the extracted images from KDZ on BoardDiag.
If it does not turn up good, better send it to service center.

Hello,
I tried to install TWRP unsuccessfully on my D852. In the process, I removed my laf.img. The strange thing is that I see two files on my phone, one in the internal storage size 16.5MB and one on the SDcard size 32MB. How do I know which one to install? Is there a difference between them? If I install the wrong one, will my phone still work?
I am running the Telus Lollipop 5.0.1 from storagecow, if this could help you giving me the right answer.
Thank you,
Update - I was able to extract laf_393216.bin from the Telus KDZ (TELUS D85220F_00.kdz) I installed on my phone. The size of this file is 19MB.
What do I do with a BIN file? How to I install it on the phone?
Thank you,
Hello, me, again,
I can't believe no one knows how to do this. Please help! I can't do anything on my phone, luckily it still boots to LP 5.0.1.
laf.img was removed using ADB. I backed it up before removing it and now I can't seem to be able to restore it because the phone doesn't go to download mode.
It was very easy to remove and I can't find a way or someone to help me restore it...
I tried to enter Download Mode by powering the phone off, pressing Vol+ and plugging USB cable.
I get a black screen with the following:
[500] Fastboot mode started
[590] -Reset-
[590 -Portcharge-
[710] Fastboot: processing commands
Anyone knows how to get into download mode from here?
Thank you,
U must restore your phone from 9008 Qualcomm DLoad.
Update - I was able to restore my laf.img and boot.img using adb.
After that, I got download mode working and was able to complete flashing original Rogers MM on my phone. Perfect!!!
Hi there, sorry for my bad English!.
I had a small LG G3 f460L working fine untill today i decision root my device. I just in android 6.0 base, coz my app(apk) i needed only run in android 6.0 or higher because of that i dont downadge my phone to lower base. I try kingroot, kingoroot, ioroot... etc but nothing work. Because my phone dont have stock recovery( nẻver mind), i was try flash LAF and RECOVERY partion by LGUP patched! all done, my phone got brick, i start normally but can't boot to download mode and recovery both. So, i think there is no way to flash other rom with this situation, i got a big decision: brick my phone. in this moment i try kingoroot again, and wow,. It's worrking, my phone is rooted. But, i can flash anything because my recovery partion got error. 2nd i got big decison. BRICK MY PHONE to got 9008 QHSloader. I succeeded with that intention. But, GOD pls/ My phone is not in list supportted by Boarddiag chipset and other tools. My chipset is APQ8084.
Have anyone here can give me a model APQ8084 support file or other way to save my phone. ! Thanks you so much!:crying:
About your recovery problem you could try and install this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg...460-recovery-unofficial-twrp-3-0-0-0-t3330573
As for your laf partition problem if you have a backup of this partition you can flash it back like this (assuming this is on the root of your sdcard path):
Code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/laf
dd if=/sdcard/laf.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/laf
If you don't have a backup of your laf partition I am afraid you have to apply a much harder solution.
Download the same firmware as the one you have installed on your device and extract the laf partition from there.(If you bother to download a whole kdz or tot you could also extract your stock recovery too in case you don't have a backup and you need it).
Here you could find your stock firmware:
https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-f460l-firmwares/
Also here you will find the tool and the instructions to extract it:
httQHSloaderm.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600575
I hope I helped you.
Sorry man! I forgot the part "9008 QHSloader".So if you don't have access to your rom any more you are probably screwed!?
Hello everyone, I'm new on the forum. Sorry to bother you, I've been reading most of the threads about the G8 thinq. My problem is that I can't extract LG's kdz firmware properly. I already tried with the Lg extract, with the CMD, with Power Shill. None manage to extract the '.DZ' Please share me a rom that is already extracted, thanks in advance.

So a couple of things, the kdz extractor tools are plentiful, some work under windows and some under linux. I've used the linux version and it does work, no issues. The DZ file is basically the KDZ uncompressed. It's a large single file.
The DZ is then further broken down by the utility into various forms due to the command you use, you can get partition images and chunks of images etc etc.
2nd, you ask for a 'rom that is already extracted'? That's a lot of images, about 5 gig worth, what **exactly** are you trying to do? Maybe you only need a few files? Maybe you need files from a specific rom version? Maybe you need a kdz rom that doesn't even exist? Like at&t and sprint?
you might want to fill in some details for anyone to help.

Hello, thanks for answering. I will begin to tell my story. I have an Lg G8 ThinQ Sprint with Android 10. It is network unlocked because I can use it here in Honduras. I did the Crossflash tutorial ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/tutorial-crossflash-bypass-opid-mismatched-error.4345963/ )
While using the QFIL I deleted flash from one of the 7 partitions the tutorial says. My phone no longer exits EDL mode ( Qualcomm HS-USB QDloader 9008 (COM5)) So I went to this tutorial: (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/lg-g8-stuck-in-qualcomm-hs-usm-qdloader-9008.4050197/).
I followed the steps to load the ¨Lun¨, I did it in PowerShell, because in CMD it didn't work for me. Apparently the ¨Lun¨ were installed well. Now the problem is that I can't install the necessary partitions, because I can't unzip the .DZ ROM
Help, what do I do? My cell phone is only in Qualcomm HS-USB QDloader 9008 mode, it does not go to download mode

So honestly I'm confused by where you are or what the situation is. But no matter.
This link is for the Lun4 partitions of sprint a10 backup. It has the rawprogram xml needed to flash it.
My understanding is that should be all you need to get LGUP to work. So flash that with qfil and then go directly to LGUP with the key combo.
Then, in lgup, do whatever you want, crossflash etc. Once you reinstall a kdz with lgup you should be back to the beginning and can start again.
good luck

Thanks for the files and information. I just did the flash in QFIL. look what it tells me.
What could be wrong with my cell phone? It no longer wants to enter power on or enter download mode.
The screenshots from 1 to 5 are those of the QFIL flash process.
Then see how is the partition manager. From screenshot 6 to 13.
Do you find any problem?
I still can access Download mode.
Thank you again for your dedication and availability to help me
Hmmm, wasn't sure if that would work or not. That rawprogram xml was created with bkerler edl utilities, I know it can be used to restore with those utilities but thought it would work with qfil, guess not.
seems your only other option would be to flash ea partition manually with qfil.

Hi, I also tried this tutorial:https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/tutorial-rescue-from-hard-brick.4351389/.
According to him, since my device is Sprint, I have to flash all partitions. You can successfully do part C. But I haven't been able to do part E yet because I don't have all those partitions.

I don't have the full backup, sorry. Pretty sure if you look though someone has posted a link to it.
Keep in mind though, if you have chip erased your device, restoring a backup will not restore your imei, for that it will cost $ to pay someone with an octoplus box to do it.
