Which version of CM are you running? It might be possible that you are running an outdated version of the recovery and hence cannot flash roms.

Some ROMs are flashable via recovery and some are not and are meant to be applied using Fastboot. But if you are rooted, try an app called Flashify. It can be found on Google Play. Today I flashed recovery on my Xiaomi Redmi 2 with it. It works same as fastboot but it's simpler as you don't have to flash via computer.
When I still used my good old Wildfire S, I also tried to flash Cyanogen 11 via Clockworkmod Recovery. And it failed. Then I swapped Clockworkmod for TWRP Recovery and TWRP flashed the zip without problem. Or perhaps you use just too old recovery. I recommend you to try TWRP Recovery, it has touch interface and it is more user friendly

Flashing ROMs

I've been flashing ROMs on my One V for a while now. I've tried out the CM10 beta, CM9 beta, JMV4, Paranoid Android, most of them out there.
However, now they will not flash. Does anyone know why? I tried to go back to the CM9 ROM using the same file (I even re downloaded it) and it fails to flash.
I'm using TWRP 2.2 and have been. I even reflashed TWRP and reformated my SD. What went wrong?
because you are trying to flash cdma roms
cm10 is for cdma
ur device is primo u
soo u need to flash that only.. i mean the primo u roms
Sent from my HTC One V
I know the difference. I have PrimoC. I have Virgin Mobile in the US. I'm wondering why the ROMs that were working for me will no longer flash.
I'm not trying gsm ROMs for PrimoU
Alrighty. Lot of helpful people around here LOL
instead of being a sarcastic btard how about you expand on why they wont flash? errors? what?
That's exactly my question lol Why won't they flash? I flashed them and they worked fine. I went to flash to a different ROM and it says flash failed in red letters. I tried flashing a ROM that previously worked and it said flash failed. I know how to flash ROMs as I have been successful in the past with the same files. I ended up just flashing stock and unrooting. Do you think it's possible that it was bricked? As I"m not sure exactly what a bricked phone acts like because I've never had it happen.

Are you using the CDMA version of clockworkmod? That's the other issue sometimes faced.
No, I use TWRP instead of CWM. I never got the CWM to work right. TWRP has been great. I'm not sure what happened. I just relocked boot loader and went back to stock. I'll try everything again once there are things 100%.
Plus, it's hard for me to give up the Sense camera and weather widget! lol

then switched to bootloader and run ruu;
but when i tried to install the RUU, it gave me error 155; and when i saw my bootloader it was written:

Ok, here's what I did when I went back to stock. Run that file that you downloaded for your area. After it's done running, open up a folder or internet explorer and type %temp% That file that you ran created a couple of temporary folders and inside one of those folders you'll see a zipped file that says ROM. Copy that ROM file and paste it on your desktop, open it up and take out the recovery image and boot image. Flash the stock recovery and boot image files and then relock your bootloader and then continue on with the first downloaded file you ran.
If you locked your bootloader before flashed the stock recovery and boot image I'm not sure what to do.

[Q] Need some help to root my DHD on 4.3 Android version

Hello, firstable i would like to say that i'm new here, and that im totally neophyte in the wolrd of rooting phone etc.
I recently lurned that i could "root" my HTC Desire HD on a android 4.3 rom, but after spending one hour on the website, i have to say that im really confuse and that it dont seems as easy as i though it will be to root my phone. Some people might say that i'm a noob or whatever, and it's actually true, but i believe that everyone here was like me at the begening.
So long story short, i would like some help to root my phone on Android 4.3, or 4.0 at least cause some brand new apps or games seems to only works on Android 4.0, but i can't find any easy tutorial that i could follow step by step to do it, most of the tutorial use terms that i dont even understand !
So if someone could spend some time to explain me the basic step that i need to follow to root my phone, or lead me to a thread made for total beginers, i would really appreciate it, thanks for your time and i hope i will be able to manage the operation succefully !
Got a custom recovery?

There is a nice thread right there explaining about the whole process. You can upgrade to 4.3 using two methods:
1. Unlock bootloader, flash custom recovery, flash 4.3 rom, flash boot.img of that rom.
Or
2. Get s-off using aahk2, flash custom recovery, flash 4.3 roms.
Those steps is just main procedures but it should help you started.

U only need to unlock bootloader but if u want to unlock ur device 100% then do it with aahk 2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2367322

Thanks for your replies, well i actually used the easyaceroottool, i unlocked the phone, and then i tried to instal 2 different rom but no one worked and now i can't use my phone anymore, expet in the recovery mode with volume - / power.
I will try to do the process again with AAHK2 as you advice me, i hope it will fix the problem and that i will be able to instal a new rom, otherwise my phone is screwed :s
i will keep you in touch, thanks
Damn, i think my phone is dead now :s i wiped all the things in the bootloader to instal the roms, and now it is stuck on the white htc screen, and it can't be recognise by the computer or AAHK2
Is it totally broken since i dont have any recovery / backup or there is a solution ?

is the phone still can go into bootloader..?, n what the state of your phone bootloader now..?
did you've already installing custom recovery..like CWM, TWRP or 4EX recovery..?, n is it the recovery still worked..?
after installing the custom rom..did you sure don't forget to flashing boot.img from the rom itself through FASTBOOT mode..?

i assume that you already had SDK/ADT for execute ADB and fastboot command..if not..you can download it from here..
just extracted the rom.zip that you already installed..find "boot.img" file in there..then copied to the SDK/platform-tools folder that's the place of your ADB n fastboot.exe on your pc..
then reboot your to bootloader with pressed volume down + power..then select FASTBOOT..then connecting it your phone with pc..until indicator on your phone change to "FASTBOOT-USB"..
then open cmd and change it the source to your SDK/ADB folder..then type (w/o quote) "fastboot devices" to cek the connected first..then type "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
now you can try rebooting the phone with type "fastboot reboot"..done..
hope this help..sorry for my bad grammar
Awesome i think it worked, now i dont have the white htc screen anymore and i think that the phone is loading the new rom, but i had to create myself a folder "Fastboot" at C:/ and past a fastboot.exe from the easyaceroottool. Anyway, it's still loading at the moment i think it will works correctly, i will keep you in touch ! thanks !
Well, i dont know if it's normal, but it has been more than 20 minute and the phone haven't started yet, i see the new loading menu from the rom running, but the phone don't start, is it normal that i have to wait that long ? it's the first time that my phone is rooted with a new rom by the way.

No..it's not normal..booting the first time of any rom after every installing is not more than 5-6 minutes..
what the rom you installing..?, just try installing another custom rom..maybe you can try (ICS rom) SVHD v2.1.0 rom..or (JB rom) MIUI V5 v3.12.27 ported rom from MIUI site..that's what i know more stable than the other custom rom..
note: always don't forget to flashing a boot.img too extracted from the rom that you've been installed..
Ok i will try the 4.0 android one, because that's why i wanted a new rom at the begening, to have a 4.0 or + android version ^^

I'm not good in Chinese (null, really ) So, whether I understood right that 1,22 clockworkmod.rar is an official ROM?
I have one more question to you considering bootloader unlock. Your wrote in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697994 "1.Unlock bootloader at http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/(Model selection: HTC one)". Can you tell me, please, will it give UNLOCKED status with S-ON or S-OFF? Cause I made this unlocking procedure through Kingo HTC Bootloader Unlock... and it gave me UNLOCKED with S-ON... Then, with ROOT, it added TEMPERED to HBOOT screen... I'm not sure, what does it mean. Before I had Huawei... it was much simpler to customize it... as long as I'm pretty new to Android.
kinghunki, I used your ROM from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2712315 I'm sorry that I ask in this theme... but I have no right to write in the development section. And I have a question to you concerning this ROM. Why I cannot change installation options? Well, I can change them in the installer. However, when installed, ROM doesn't reflect my choice... but install only those apps that were predefined instead... I tried to re-install 3 times... but have no result.... Only predefined options were installed each time.
Thank you very much for your time and understanding!

Unrooting HTC Desire 820
Hey guys need urgent help!!! I have got an htc desire 820 and want to root it using TWRP. I did a lot of research and have a rough idea about nandroids and custom recoveries. Also i dont want any custom ROM. Just root access.Have a few questions.
1. I need to backup my stock ROM before rooting. Just in case something goes wrong. Is downloading the stock ROM from HTC website enough or do i need to do it from my phone using TWRP and transfer the file to my PC? Because after rooting(still on the same ROM...I'm assuming rooting with the superUser.zip file only gives me root access right?)the backup created through TWRP is still modified right? I mean if i flash that, my phone is still rooted right?
2. Before rooting my phone, i download the stock rom backup and save it on my PC. should i do any other safety measures?
3. If i want to get OTA update, copy that stock rom in twrp/backups and flash that and then flash stock recovery also. Then install OTA update i want to and again root by installing TWRP and flashing the same superuser file. Am i doing it right? or is there some other way of receving OTA updates for a rooted desire 820? Are there any other steps i need to do to get OTA updates?
I haven't yet rooted. So if you guys have any solution that changes the entire method of rooting like rooting without using TWRP is there, then that solution is also welcome. I hope i've made myself clear. Thanks in advance,

Where you will get stock ROM. I do not find single site for downloading HTC firmwares.
I agree with you that before doing any adventure, you should have stock rom available.
How to flash Stock Rom if you have rooted device? (from my experience of Galaxy Note 7000, I had to use Odin for flashing stock rom).

Good question. Never looked into that because everywhere it said downlaod stock firmware. I owned a samsung earlier. They provided stock ROMs in their website. Didn't find one for my device but it's there on the website for devices like htc desire 610. Just google it. Anyways i found a workaround for the OTA update. turns out you dont even need to have stock ROM!!! YAYYY!! u just need stock recovery and it will install OTA update. after updating, just install custom recovery again.
To answer your question, using a custom recovery like TWRP u can easily flash stock rom. (if you have the stock rom). Just put it under TWRp/backup. Go into recovery mode and select backup and click the file to flash!

YAYYY!! u just need stock recovery and it will install OTA update. after updating, just install custom recovery again.
To answer your question, using a custom recovery like TWRP u can easily flash stock rom. (if you have the stock rom). Just put it under TWRp/backup. Go into recovery mode and select backup and click the file to flash!

No Custom ROMS will install - Won't open ZIP

Hello all,
Apologies if this has been asked before but can't find a concrete answer or a way to fix this.
My phone is rooted, unlocked and S-Off . When I go into recovery and to install my new rom they all fail saying can't open Zip file. I have used both TWRP and CWM but both give me the same message.
I tried the new VIPER Rom, the new InsertCoin Rom for my HTC One M8 and all give me the same.... I've downloaded twice, put them from computer straight to my phones sd card and then tried internal storage but nothing seems to work?
Can anyone help out?
