I can't figure out a way to bypass the activation screen after startup. I want to be able to get past the setup wizard without using a SIM card or Wi-Fi connection. When I click on skip Wi-Fi then nothing happens. I performed a hard factory data reset.
It still won't let me skip the setup wizard.
Thoughts?
It was because I didn't remove Google Account from G4 before resetting. You have to authenticate with Google using the last main Google account on the phone. An encryption key is stored somewhere safe from factory resets in the phone. Obnoxious...

I flashed 5.1.1 factory image and booted up. I'm trying to skip for now the "select network" initial screen because I don't have the passwords. Even though there is a button for "skip", it is grayed out. How can I skip the network setup for now?
Ignore attached images.
go set it up somewhere with free wifi ..with a coffee most libraries have free wifi
Guys,
I done goofed.
Allowed the young one to play with the tablet, lo and behold, the fingerprint scanner was "gone" and the tablet was requesting the alternate password, which I'm ashamed to say I have no Idea what it is.
I've tried to access the tablet with Android Device Manager, which gives me 3 options, RING - BLOCK - ERASE
After researching, I read that clicking on block and setting up a password there would work, but it doesn't. It just gives me a message saying that "Since google has verified that a screen lock is already set, the password that you entered won’t be needed"
There's no samsung account set.
While I know I could do a factory reset, It would be sad to lose some of the photos and files on the device.
Crazy ideas to help this fool here?
cheers,
Dan
factory reset wont delete your photos and files. it just delete system related data/install apps. unless you format your internal drive.
Hmm I thought that could be the case, but the only way I can do as reset now is going into that special mode by pressing power, home, volume buttons when the tablet is off right?
Won't the option I find there more drastic that a regular factory reset?
I haven't tried yet because I was hopeful for another solution :/
No other option available, would be terrible if there was (security bug!) Just do a factory reset in recovery mode, never got my personal files deleted that way, even Bluetooth downloads and old app folders stayed there
Hi,
Got a LG G4 stuck in boot loop - going to sell it on ebay as spares/repairs. Managed to get my contact list off it and factory reset it with the freezer method. Seems to have worked as after it was only optimising 8 apps (had 26 before reset) and then took me to a screen asking for mobile data or wifi and my last gmail account - I understand this to be a security measure to prevent thefts and wipes?
My question is: presumably I need to enter my last gmail details - will the phone then remember them? ie will i need to keep freezing my phone after successful gmail account entry to then go in to the settings and remove the gmail account details from the accounts section? As I'm selling the phone I'd rather not have any of my account information on there
Thanks!

Unfortunately, my friend - the owner of the phone Xiaomi Redmi 7, has passed away, and alas, the phone has remained blocked.
The phone has a graphic key and a fingerprint.
On the phone there is a google account and mi account. Access to the SIM card with which the phone was registered is available. Access to google and mi accounts too.
I would like to unlock the phone without resetting the data, well, or an alternative way to get the data. Data is a photo and video.
Therefore, we need your advice on this case.
I have a redmi note 8t.
I performed a factory reset and a hard reset (power + vol down) erasing all data. After the reboot, I setup my phone with the same google account. I installed an app of a stream service (its name is infinity) and I got access without password to my profile. My google account has no stored passwords.
To check this behaviour I repeated the procedure.
I removed every google account and I performed a factory reset. Then I performed a hard reset removing all data. This time I set up the phone with a newly created google account. I removed the sd card either.
The first thing I did has been to install this stream service app. Again immediate access.
By the way, if I logout from inside the app at the next access I have to type the password again, but if I uninstall and reinstall this app without logging out, access occurs without password.
I don't understand why it's sufficient to install it after multiple hard reset to have access to my profile.
Thank you
edit:
I checked with another device and this behaviour doesn't occur. Apparently hard reset doesn't erase login credential of this app in this device
