I was wondering if anyone had the copy of the link that ATT Tech Support sends via SmS to initiate ATT Remote Support?

I have just got fax activated on my SIM and been given a new fax number as well, so I have been sending and receiving faxes with TrueFax as advertised.
However...
Shouldn't there be some way to send and/or receive without automatically going into flight mode and dialing internal modem? If twirpy Nokias can do it (they can and do), why not Blue Angels?
Is it just a limitation of TrueFax, or is it just impossible to do with Xda IIs?
EDIT: Doesn't MFaxCE do this? With version 1.8.6 it claims to be the first mobile fax software to send via voice modem. (It can also use Xda internal modem, like TrueFax.) Anyone try it yet?
Hi,
I wonder whether there is any way to influence windows mobile in handling the simcard information stored in the Customer Service Profile (CSP).
In the CSP, some information is stored about additional services enabled on the network, e.g. the Alternate Line Service, but also the mailbox number (which is used by the windows start screen) and the message waiting indicator, as utilized by Orange(UK). Further information about CSP and CPHS can be found here:
http://www.3gpp.org/ftp/tsg_t/WG3_USIM/TSGT3_15/docs/T3-000450.zip
As the windows startscreen needs the mailbox number to be stored in the CSP, the shortdial feature of the startscreen can only be used with simcards supporting this feature. However, a lot of simcards, e.g. T-mobile(DE) don't. If it was possible to somehow override the CSP with individual information one might be able to use the shortdial feature even with not supported simcards.
Another thing is ALS(Alternate Line Service). With e.g. Orange Simcards, Windows Smartphones offer a menu to change the Line for outgoing calls. This can be anoying as most people do not use this service.
On the other hand, eplus(DE)-simcards do not support this feature, while the network does, therefore one cannot utilize the second line even if subscribed to it. E.g., according to CPHS 4.2, the eights bit on position six in the CSP (6F15) on GSM/PCS-Sims shall be responsible for ALS - the setting of this value to 0x80 should activate the service.
It would be great if there was any way to influence the behaviour Windows Smartphones handle CSP/CPHS information as services like mailbox-shortdial or alternate line service can be used by anyone an not only by those with compliant simcards.
Is there any way to override CSP information?
Cheers,
Chris
Hey, no one except me ever had problems with either storing the Voicemail number or getting the ALS-Menu switched on/off? Why is that?
Hello everyone, I installed RUU_Excalibur_WM61_Kavana_080408_WWE on my phone and it is workig great. The problem I am having is that in my country phone numbers consist of only 8 digits fotmated XXXXXXXX or XXXX-XXXX y my contacts list BUT when someone calls me his/her name does not come up, instead I get for example: (XXX)XXX-XX because the caller ID format seems to be (XXX)XXX-XXXX (expecting an area code) So I never get to se de name of the caller, instead I get a poorly readable number. How can I fix this?
TIA!
LOL, Try Moving to America, where we use these style phone numbers!

Did you try changing your Regional Settings to match the country you're in ?
Store all phone numbers in international "+" format
The key is to store all your numbers in full international format.
+CCCAANNNNNNNNNN
where CCC is the country code, AA is the area code (omiting any leading zeros in most countries) and NNNNNNNNNN is the local phone number.
For ease of use in your address book, you can space the digits out, or add parentheses or dashes, as these are ignored at dialing/matching time. It makes the numbers easier to read.
Eg. +CCC-AA-NNNNN-NNNNN, +CCC (AA) NNNNN-NNNNN would be treated the same.
All GSM phones receive the complete international designation phone numbers on incoming calls - so it will match on the full number always.
Based on your SIM, and your country's dialing rules built into the SIM, it will also match on numbers that have no country code, but have a complete local area code (including leading zero if appropriate) and complete number. This is to allow it to match on non mobile phone originated calls. I believe it will assume your local country code based on your SIM, and apply the appropriate zero stripping rules to the received caller ID to create a fully qualified international number to match on.
This also takes all the guess work out of making calls should you ever roam into another country. For example, if you live in the USA and store a number for Ireland as 01135312345678 - this will work from the USA. But, if you travel to Ireland, where the international access code is not 011 - but rather 00 - that number will fail. Storing the numbers with the "+" prefix instead of the local international access prefix allows the SIM card to do the work. The SIM card registers on the roaming provider's nerwork, and "asks" that network how to dial a "+".
Finally, the presentation of the number on screen is just a factor of the application that is displaying it. If you use the international format for your numbers, they will successfully match, and will display the number in the format in which you have stored them in your address book. If they don't match, they will display using the default number interpreting logic of whatever ROM you have loaded. For most of us here, that would be the Brighpoint USA ROM or the T-Mobile ROM - both of which try to format numbers as USA style AAA-XXX-NNNN
Hope this helps
Thank you, I entered +COUNTRY_CODE in the phone settings call options and it is working now.
Thanks a lot!!

How to go the phone settings call option
Solved.
i will try to explain this the best i can.
We have in the last week receieved two new handsets, a DesireHD and Desire Z, we have also signed up to Vodafones one net express.
one of the functions of One Net is to be able to show a virtual landline number when dialing out (youare given several viirtual numbers on the account) to show the number you have to use a code with # -- # (-- being the short code for the number) when i enter this i get an error message saying "invalid MMI code". Having spoken tothe one net team they inform me that Android phoens will not accept # codes or shortcodes, Has anybody found any type of work around to enable the use of # codes on Android or should they work.
Any help or advice will be appreciated.
Dean
Hmm on aosp here and just tried #31# and it says mmi code activated, and throws a popup telling me the service is disabled, so it seems to work fine here.
Thanks for the reply, what android version are you running- is it stock or Custom Rom, i am wondering if this could make a difference.

Stock Virgin HTC One V CDMA -rooted- ... Trying to enter a local contest by entering a text message and sending to 79640 - I get returned "You rec'd this msg because you sent a text to a number without the area code or used an invalid short code or you are blocked from using this service. Msg 2133"
Anyone else on Virgin not able to send like this?
Anyone know if Virgin has this ability blocked?
Short codes don't work on VM
Evidently Virgin doesn't allow you to dial anything shorter than a full number (area code + phone number).
