Hello, I have problem with the backlight of my xperia z1 compact D5503 and hope someone knows some solution or what the problem could be.
The backlight stays always at its minimum level, which is OK for inside but not outside.
Light sensor and proximity sensors are working..
With an app like lux or similar I can dim the brightness below factory min, but not higher.
The file sys/dvices/leds-qpnp-f5141e00 leds/wled:backlight/brightness shows different values when I change the brightness values. Max is 4095. The file max_brightness allows 4095 and the file max_current allows "15".
Installed is the latest Lollipop ...270.
The screen was replaced with a spare part (two screens here, both have the same effect, so that I do not think it is hardware, even though the supplier is the same for both displays)
Any idea what it could be or what to do to check if it is hardware?
Thank you for your help.

I've noticed with my GNEX that it seems like all of the sudden it won't auto dim. When I unlock the device it will brighten if needed, however if I walk into a dimmer area it will not auto dim. Is this the normal behavior for the light sensor?
I'm used to my Xperia Play which would constantly adjust the screen up and down.
My auto-brightness setting sets the screen brightness lower than the lowest actual brightness setting regardless of whether I'm in light or dark.
There's a fix for it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377410&highlight=auto+screen+brightness
I haven't tested that out though.

Yea I was worried maybe the brightness sensor was not working since. Turns out my wife's droid 2 with CM7 acts the same way. Lowest setting until you unlock at which time it only increases the brightness, never decreasing.

Becouse if i but mark on auto brightness icant rise up the brightness

Thats your only solution to banding.
Yes there is a solution just rise up the brightness and the vertical bending will dissapear but if you did you cant apply the auto brightness mode and thats the problem
Bigxie's rom let's you set the autobrightness level: it's the only one I've tried so I can't comment on whether there's other roms that do the same thing.
You can use an auto brightness app and set custom brightness levels, like mine.
Ive tried that app, free version on ics 4.0.3 and had several reboots\crashes.
One is when using pattern to unlock:
- Screen is set to turn off after 30 sec, when the screen dims before shutting off and i swipe the pattern it crashes reboots.
Also in normal operation when the screen dims at shutoff point and i do something to wake it it can crash\reboot.
I have had mainly two brightness settings, 40.0 and 130 lux (0.5mA)
40.0 was set at 21% and 130 at 33%.
When commuting on bus\train the light conditions change frequently and also that can cause the reboot\crash.
I am using miui 2.3.7 from months and I notice that in display settings, sensor (filtred/raw) is usually 10 in low light conditions. So if I set for example 50 for level retroillumination, I had the same illumination of the screen in a totally dark room and in twilight light in outside. This is annoying because I want to set lower level for the first situation and higher for the second. A solution can be to use manual settings but if someone have an idea on how resolve the automatic levels I will be glad. Thanks
My friend got this watch as gift. Its fully dimmed and changing brightness level doesn't fix the issue. It has like 5% brightness of my lg g watch at level 1. It gets bright only when it boots up (on sony logo only then it gets dimmed again). Is there any fix for it? I reset it and wont work.
Hardware problem I suppose but it's strange the watch is bright while booting up...
If it's dark when set to auto and brightens if you manually set the intensity, then the photo detector is probably bad. It sees no light, so it sets it as low as possible. If it's always dark (after boot), you've probably got bad hardware or a bad configuration file.
If it's the latter, you might want to look for instructions on a full reflash of the watch's firmware.
Hello all,
My baby son managed to damage the flat cable going to touchscreen and ambient light sensor (don't ask how, watch was on my hand) and now touchscreen and light sensor are not working.
Brightness is on low setting and I can't change it.
Is there any way to change the brightness via phone?
I would like to set it to higher level to be able to see anything during the day, until I get a new screen.
I've tried "Watch Display Brightness" app but it's not working. I think that issue is that brightness is not set to manual mode and that's why this app gives no results.
Thanks!
