Touch screen help - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all.
My wife's s4 mini started to play up, 1/4 of the touch screen from the bottom has stopped working. this means she cannot assess app tray, call log etc.
the screen itself looks fine and all other parts are responsive to touch.
I manage to reset the phone by turning it sideways to assess all the keys but this has not solved the issues.
Do I need a new screen or can this be repaired?
thanks

[Q] Touchscreen input problem

Hi all!
I hope someone could help me,
My Desire Z touchscreen works weird, sometimes it does 2 unusual things:
-sometimes when trying to scroll it will zoom in or out like there is another finger there but there is not. If i run pointer location test, then it shows there is screenpress in the middle, but im not pressing it. the only way to fix it is to turn off the screen then turn back on.
-other times, the problem is similar, about 1/4 of the touchscreen in the middle/horizontal does not recive input. And the whole screen wont recognize touch correctly.
The problem happens mostly -but random- when i play games, or read pdf!
Is this problem related to the digitizer? I have tried more ROMs, the same problem. Not charging, no screen protector on the device, no break on glass.
Thanks in advance

[Q] Possible to undim without activating screen?

When the screen auto-dims before timing out and I touch the screen to undim the display, the touch registers which gets annoying, e.g., when that means that menus are popping up in the open app and I have to touch again to close them. Is there a way to emulate iOS behavior here, i.e., when dim the first touch to the screen undims and only successive touches register?
Man, does anyone have a solution for this?

[Q] Screen not turning on after touchscreen test

A few months ago, I broke the screen on my nexus 7. Recently, I decided to replace the screen. I bought a screen and put it in uneventfully, but I noticed that there was a diagonal stripe on the screen that didn't respond to touch. I knew that nexus 7s have touchscreen issues, so I downloaded the app Nexus 7 II Tester. One of the patterns caused the touchscreen to not return to normal after closing the app, so I restarted the tablet to try to fix it. However, after turning off, the screen would not come back on. The backlight is off. According to getevent from within adb, some touch input is getting through, but when I look at the screen through Android Screen Monitor, the touch input seems to be erratic. Aside from issues with the screen and touchscreen, the device seems to function normally.

HTC 10 Touch screen issues

Hello
I have a problem that whenever i try to swipe from outside the screen, it doesn't detect my swipe, for ex. whenever i try to pull the notification panel down it doesn't register any touch.
Now the next problem which i believe it's related to the first one, is the buttons doesn't light up, i found out that the Hall-sensor registers there's an ice view cover on, so when i placed a magnetic close to the hall sensor the buttons worked !
and after couple hours the light gone again and the hall-sensor is stuck again.
any ideas about the first and the second issues ?
Thank you

Quick screen 'taps' register as 'drags' after screen replacement

Hi everyone.
I have recently had my screen replaced. After playing around, i quickly noticed that my keyboard screws up when i start typing.
The faster i type, the worse the problem is.
I checked touch response times and achieves normal times of about 60ms, however, i turned on touch overlay in developer settings and noticed that if i touch opposite sides of the screen quickly (to simulate typing), it would draw lines between the touches as if i was dragging between the two points.
This is what causes my keyboard to do funky stuff and heavily lag when typing fast.
Please note that this never happened before the screen replacement, and a hard reset didnt fix the problem.
Is there any software fix for this, or do i need another screen?
thanks.

I mainly work on iPhones, but it sounds like your digitizer is out of calibration. Don't know if there's a software fix for it, but hopefully this will point you in the right direction. Also I'd take it back to the place you had it repaired and see if they can fix if it's still warrantied.
