Sorry if this is not the correct place for this.
One thing I miss from the Motorola dual sim is the smart sim selection integration into dialer/contact list screens.
This feature will automatically learn which is the preferred sim to use for each contact and this can be changed at dial time. It can't be set on the contact edit screen and is really not needed to, isn't a hassle you have to go thru and usually helps a transparent dual sim operation.
When you choose to dial someone for the first time it will ask which sim to use, the next time you'll dial it will automatically select that sim for that contact BUT on the calling screen you'll have a switch sim button for you to change, which is also useful when you are in a place where signal for the current selected sim is not good, pressing this will re initiate the call but thru the other sim.
This function can be disabled on the dual sim settings screen for those that use some per time of the day or any other different reason.
Thanks.

Hello there!
I'm just thinking about buying a Samsung Galaxy S4 mini (i9192), but I have some doubts about how it uses its SIM cards, and I haven't found the answers even on the owner's manual available on Samsung's website.
For example, let's say that I have both SIM cards active, SIM1 is the default SIM, and I receive a call on SIM2. If I review the call log and search for that SIM2 call, what happens if I call back to that number?
a) Will the phone use SIM2 to place the call because it was received trough that SIM?
b) Will it make the call through SIM1 since it's the default SIM?
Another question is about associating contacts to a particular SIM. Can I specify a preferred SIM for a contact? If so, how does it work? I've seen some screenshots of the contact list from other Samsung Duos series, and they show a little 1 or 2 next to each contact, but I'm not sure what does it mean, or it that feature is available on i9192. Can somebody please clarify this?
Last question is about SMS. If I receive a message to SIM1 (for example), will I always reply from SIM1 too? Or will it let me choose between both SIMs?
Thank you very much for your help.

Hello SilviuMik,
First of all, thank you very much for your quick response.
In the screenshots it looks like you can always choose to call from any SIM, but I’m wondering if there’s a way to call back from the same SIM that received the call (obviously if it's active). Could you please tell me if this is possible?
In one of the screenshots contact "A" shows a pop-up window asking you to select a SIM, but I don’t really know if this means that contacts can be associated to a preferred SIM, or if this window appears after pressing the call button with preferred SIM card for voice calls configured as "Always ask". Would you please clarify this too?
In your screenshots it seems that the each SMS can be sent with any SIM. Isn't that a problem? For cumbersome people like me, you could easily send SMS from the wrong SIM. As you've been using the phone for some time, what do you think about this? Is this feature comfortable/powerful of is it a mess?
Thank you for your patience.
Best regards.

Not without a third party app, or like i said in the next question, if u have 1 SIM always assigned as calls then from that sim

Instead of Always Ask u can configure SIM 1 or SIM 2 in that menu . Maybe u have one sim for calls only and one for data only If u select SIM1 for example that pop-up won`t appear anymore

Depends on your fingers i never sent sms from wrong number
Thank you for your patience.
Best regards.

Your explanations were really helpful.
In my opinion, these Samsung dual devices are not mature enough yet, but they will be hopefully better in the future.
Thank you very much!
Hi,
Obviously am new to this forum and new to dual sim phones.
I have got one question:
I see that we can have all calls be either on one default sim or the phone ask you to choose. My question is whether we can somewhere assign a number to one sim, i.e. each time calling this number it will use this sim.
If anyone knows how this can be done please send me the info.
I have tried to look from the sim card manager and into contact for the different options but can't find it.
Thanks
Since yesterday I'm the proud owner of an OP3.
Today I have inserted the 2nd sim for all my business call, but this is where the questions starts raising
I thought it was just 'normal' the create contact groups and have the phone automatically pick sim 1 or 2 based on the contact group a contact is in.
So this brings me to 2 main questions I have:
- Is it possible to set-up contact groups? (I can see the options within the contacts app)
- Is it possible to have an automatic profile for contact using sim 1 or sim 2?
- (is it also possible to send all contact over sim 2 based on the app where the phone numbers are in? For business purposes I use Good for Enterprise for mail and contacts. It would be awesome to select a contact in this app and to dail the number over sim 2)
Thank you
Need near the same here.
It Will be really great to separate contact form sim and allow to configure a default sim card to use depending on number called.
I use Dual SIM Selector from the store. You can assign individual numbers, contacts or groups to each SIM.
I have a work group setup to assign colleagues to my work SIM. If a call from a new number comes in then calling it back will automatically use the SIM where the call was received.
My options are also set to prompt which SIM when calling a new number, but default to personal SIM if I don't choose within 5 seconds. This means I don't have issues when on hands-free in the car.
I really can't understand why they release dual SIM phones without these features as standard. My last 3 dual SIM phones, and my wife's Mi 5 Pro are all the same. That's how I stumbled across Dual SIM Selector
Or use True Phone
Hi guys
I'm using 2 sims (one personal and one for work)
For me it's crucial to know from which sim am I getting call right now (for new numbers that are not in my contact list)
Thу problem is that in MIUI ROM you can't assign color to a sim card, so the only way to know which sim card is receiving call is a small icon with sim number. Even in a normal state it's to hard to see the number. It gets ten times harder while driving, for example. In AOSP there is an option to assign a color to a sim card so when i am getting a call from specific sim the call screen is colored by the sim color.
The question is, how can I change the dialer of MIUI to a standard AOSP dialer?
I also have tried another ROMs, like resurrect - this is very good but I lack the "dual apps" from MIUI. I tried different "dual apps" solutions from the play market but they all are just bad and can't be compared to MIUI dual apps (for example in whatsapp - where i need to whatsapp account to run simultaneously)
This is pretty interesting. If it's possible to change the default dialer/contacts, how would one go about it? Also, what dialer app would you folks recommend?
Hi, I think the easiest solution for you is just need to setup different ringtone for each SIM

For me it's not a solution, as most of the time my phone is on vibration (to not disturb my wife or other people on the meetings)

Nope, it doesn't help - on incoming calls it's the same.
First of all change ur dual SIM name, Suppose A & B, now u can easily check which sim is receiving call from another no. Incoming call, miss call, everthing
Dual SIM phones are becoming more available in the developed world, and I think there is a great use case for them here that seems rather untapped: the consolidation of work and personal phones.
At the moment, the way that dual-SIM communications is handled is tailored to combining communications from both SIMs into one place; I want to keep them separate.
For calls: the app "Dual Sim Selector" is essentially exactly what I want for calls, however it's interaction with LineageOS seems to be slightly disjointed (if anyone knows how to suppress the OS's sim selector prompt whilst not overriding the above app's selection, this app would be perfect). The critically valuable part of this app is that I can, carte blanche, automatically assign contacts from any given account (google acct, exchange acct) to use a particular SIM; all other numbers it prompts.
For SMS, however, I've yet to find a viable solution: I want separate inboxes for each SIM. Tabs within an app, separate SMS apps, I don't care; I just don't want to accidentally send one of my clients a sexy text message by accident.
So my two questions:
How can I get the Dual Sim Selector to work nicely with the dialer? and
How can I keep my SMS inboxes separate?
Dual Sim Selector's behaviour on LineageOS on my ZTE Axon 7:
With OS's SIM settings to "Ask every time": Dual Sim Selector app works as expected, however OS prompt still present. Dismissing OS prompt by tapping outside terminates call; selecting any option changes theme and information on dialer but does not affect the SIM choice, the app's SIM choice is used.
With OS's SIM settings to default to one SIM: App's choice is disregarded.
I've contacted the developer, they've pointed the finger at abnormal implementation of LineageOS's sim selection dialogue.

I have a similar issue with my Honor 5X and Lineage OS 14.1.
If I set, in options, to "always ask" which SIM to use when calling, I cannot make calls from my car using bletooth, because the phone wants to know which SIM to use.
The best solution, in my opinion, would be to have two buttons on the dialer, one to call using SIM 1 and one for SIM 2 (just like it is in the standard EMUI dialer).
That way, I could set, in options, to "Use SIM 1 for calls", be able to easily choose which SIM to use for calling and be able to make calls in car using bluetooth with the default SIM.
