Are the ROMS & Recoveries safe for the 2E/Z00D model? - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm having big issues with my stock 5.0.1 Lollipop with my notifications coming through only when I unlock my device, and I read that 5.1 fixed the wifi idle and sleep issues. I'm wondering if these ROMs and Recoveries are safe for me to go ahead and flash on my ZenFone 2E (Z00D) model to see if will solve the issue

No one has tried them on that model, so I would not say they are safe. Also wrong section. Please post questions like this in the Q&A section.

I was pretty sure this was the appropriate section as it's relevant to the roms and questions about them. I didn't need General help, so this is where I found it best suited. Thanks for the reply anyways.

Just an XDA tip, you would only post a new thread in the Android Development Section or the Original Development Section if you made something such as a ROM, mod, kernel, etc.

Thanks for the tip. I'll keep that in mind next time.

No. They are completely different phones. The general Intel x86 Android root method works on the 2E though.

I got root thanks to that method, I wish there were some roms though. I don't like the wifi and notification bug in 5.0.1

EvoNonsense4.3.1 Question

I guess my noobness on this forum prevents me from asking my question in the development thread, so I have no choice but to ask this here. I just installed the EvoNonsense4.3.1 ROM last night and I'm loving it! Very Cyanogen like but with some sense things still in there. Great combo, IMHO. Just curious as to why the Build Number for this ROM shows up as EvoNonsens4.2? I verified that I did DL the 4.3.1 zip file, so no sure why the proper version is not reflected in the Software Information section. Anywho, loving this ROM so far. Very fast and everything is working great!

You can be a veteran and still should not post questions in the development section.
What you should have done is post your question in the evo non sense thread or pm the developer.....
Now your question is simple. The developer forgot to rename his Rom to the new update. It still is the newest but with the old name/number.

Thanks for the info. Why is it that I shouldn't make a post in the development thread for the ROM? I figured this would be something that the ROM developer would be interested in knowing so that he/she could fix it. Guess I don't know all the rules for XDA yet .

You can post question of a Rom in its thread. You don't make a new thread to ask a question about a Rom. It will clutter the dev section.
Now if you have a non specific Rom question that question can go in this section=q&a

Yeah I won't flame you for posting in my thread, promise. I forgot to update the build.prop. Thanks

Cool. Guess I need to make a few more posts before it will let me comment in a development thread though. By the way, your ROM is awesome!! Gonna stick with this one for a while. Trying to promote it as much as possible on the AC forums.

[Q] AOKP Build 40 Download?

I've gone to teh AOKP site but nothing is there. Just says read on about this build....
Link: I<I would post the link to the aokp build but new users can't>
Anyone able to help me find this?
Also, I've hear Rom Manager is unsafe to use for Rom Flashing so what about Rom Toolbox Pro?
I still have not installed my first Rom and I just want it to go well.
Also if anyone can point me to any other files needed for Build 40 AOKP I'd be greatful.
Cheers.
Make sure to read up before flashing a ROM. Make sure it is for your device.
If you have a sprint SGS3 go to original dev section and look for AKOP.

Ok I found the AOKP thread. I am not sure how to fully go about this. Is there a firmware I need for this? Also, could someone explain firmware to me as in do you need it for Roms? Do firmwares just change speed? What is their purpose?

[Q] WiFi Hotspot not working on Dirty Unicorns

Sorry about the general post, I have flashed Roms from here since back in my Droid X days but have never done much posting, so it wont let e ask this on the DU thread.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the WiFi tether to work in settings. It looks like it sets up but never works and shows little or no connectivity on my laptop.
I love this rom and want to use it as a daily but HAVE to have hotspot use for my home or I get no internet in my rural community.
Any help would be appreciated!!!!

I am also running 7.9.
1. You posted into the wrong section. Questions go to Q&A thread.
2. Wi-Fi trust may be broken because of the kernel or ramdisk. If you flashed a custom kernel then that is probably the problem. If not then the problem is in the ROM. If you flashed that ROM without wiping data and cahce, then that may be the reason why Wi-Fi tether isn't working..

Sorry about the mispost. And thank you for still responding.
No custom kernel and i only dirty flashed 7.9 over 7.8 triple wiped before that.
I will wipe and reflash. Thanks again.
Still doesn't seem to work right after a clean wipe and reflash.

Then it may be a good to test another KK ROM to see if that is the ROM problem.

Ya it had been working on the other 4.4 ROMs like Slimkat.
Each night I go back to the last working backup of SlimKat to use WiFi tether and then have been running DU during the day.
Thanks

So the problem is in the ROM.
If you can then let the ROM devs know about this issue on their ROM. This may be just ramdisk related or then kernel related

Will do I think I have enough post to add this thread in the developer section. I didn't have my 10 posts.
If anyone would like to drop this thread in that forum it would be appreciated as well.

Oh, thanks. I see people post issues on there, like on the DU Thread.

Flashfire or TWRP?

Which one is better and/or do you trust more? Are there any significant pros & cons of one over the other? If so, what are they?
I'm asking mainly for suhide purposes, trying to do my research. I have no intention of running another ROM or anything. Just stock ROM with root is good enough for me at the moment. I'm not familiar with the suhide requirements though, so I'm doing my research and trying to find out what I need to know in order to get it up and running. Thanks!
One doesn't work at all on Pixel\XL (yet).
The other is the only way that works.
Read up in the development subforum.
tl;dr
TWRP.

Oh okay. Just wondered, because...
Most people checking development forum are people wanting to root and be "users". Rules say only developers should start threads, but they are posting ROMs and Kernels for all device users to enjoy! TWRP installer and instructions are posted in the DEV forum.
Check it out!

Just bought it. Anything I should know?

Hello wonderful people. Just ordered the phone and came immediately to XDA. I don't plan on staying in OxygenOS(or whatever that thing is called).
I'll unlock and root it the moment I touch it. I want to install an Android 8.0/8.1 ROM but which STOCK ROM should I flash before? 4.7.6(8/January2017) or Oreo Beta 1(3/January/2017)? I want everything to work(including fingerprint) with the CUSTOM ROM I will install. I saw some posts mentioning that I need to flash 4.7.5 for the fingerprint to work but I cannot find it, only 4.7.4.
Anything else I should know? I saw many versions of TWRP, like codeworkx, blu, wtf is going on here?

The answers to all your questions are in the forum you posted in.
And you may find you come back to OOS after testing all custom ROMs, as that seems to happen to a lot of people.
