Hi Im new in the "scene" of android dev. Got a brand new LG G4 (H815) with Vodafone Germany carrier. I´ve got root on my LG and want to go the next step to unlock my phone. So I followed the official LG Unlock Thread and have all informations that I need to paste in the unlock fields. But that´s what the dev page from LG says...
Unfortunately, your device(Germany,(VODAFONE(GERMANY))does not support unlocking the bootloader.
So I have to wait for an option to "hack" it?
/Edit I´ve called the vodafone support and they said that the phone is not locked... is their a difference between sim and bootlock?
Another question, is it possible to flash an open kdz instead of the vodafone one? and when which?
Bootloader is locked... There is no plan to unlock the bootloader... You can root your phone by using the low effort root for h815... Hopefully some of the devs is able to unlock the bootloader...

Yes, SIM unlock means you can use any carrier SIM card in the phone. Bootloader unlock is completely different. Our bootloader is locked.
If you wanr root, use this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/orig-development/root-tmo-vzw-intl-variants-soon-root-lg-t3164765
The international files work for your device.

Hi
Can anyone tell me basic about root and unlocking LG Optimus G E973?
How to unlock without unlocked code?
Is the word "unlock" and "unlock bootloader" the same?
In order to unlock the phone for free, do we have to root the phone?

If Bootloader is unlocked, Network is unlocked too?

Nope, network unlock can only be achieved by unlock code for this device, and that is completely different from bootloader unlock.
-Root grants you permission control over root directory and allow for apps to have deeper integration with the android system for tweaks and such. Although this may pose a security threat for your device.
-bootloader unlock allows you to flash unsigned ROMs and kernels to your device and also poses a security threat to your device.
-network unlock allows you to use the GSM and/or CDMA network of your device with another carrier different from its original carrier unless your device is factory unlocked.
If all you want is to use your phone with another provider I suggest you stop looking for ways to unlock without code because its not possible and search for a trusted code unlocking service.

Hey everyone, this is my first LG device, and definitely not my last. I love this phone but I think its time to root now.
I understand LG have an official bootloader unlock for the H815 model, but mine is also carrier branded to O2, I read somewhere that its only the factory unlocked models that support this method?
Cheers

You can always just go to the LG site and try to get the files you need and see. If you attempt to put in info for a G4 that their bootload unlock does not support it will just give you a popup error and will not allow you to download anything.
I've bought a used G4 from someone who is "pretty sure" (but not 100% certain) that it's a European model, as it was purchased from a seller on Amazon shortly before the phone was released in the UK.
I want to root the phone, so my question is: if I try to unlock the bootloader using the official LG method, but the phone turns out NOT to be a European model, am I likely to brick the phone?
No, if it cannot be unlocked, lg simply won't give you the unlock.bin file for your phone. So just try to get this file from lg and see...
Thanks. I just tried requesting an LG unlock code and it seems I'm out of luck as I seem to have a Taiwan model :0(
I guess there's no sign of a bootloader unlock for Taiwan H815's yet?
Am kind of frustrated ? i need to unlock the bootloader and i can't, that's the reason i bought lg h815 eu and it cannot unlock bootloader please someone help
Hi guys I have an H815 brand "tim(an'italian carrier) 2 hours ago I was trying to unlock my bootloader and when i wrote the imei it said "your device does not support unlocking the bootloader"
So the question is.. WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?
The problem is ; your device is not supported...
In other words the tools and guides on the official lg developers site aren't compatible with your version of the phone.
It is probably because you seem to have a carrier branded H815, and that carrier does not allow to unlock the bootloader.
You'll have to wait for LG to support your phone, LG has released a statement saying it will slowly add more devices for unlocking the boatloader

Yeah I only realised this the other day also, shame!
so basically there's no way to get rooted marshmallow at this point without unlocked bootloader
Simple question but can't really find the answer online.
Bought an H815, no carrier label etc. My ATT sim works in it.
I want to unlock the bootloader (OEM process) root, add TWRP and flash custom ROMS. Will this affect the factory unlocked carrier status?
How is it carrier unlocked btw , at the hardware level or bios type process? I see the H815 comes factory carrier unlocked?
tia
Assuming your phone was purchased sim free, then no, bootloader unlock shouldn't affect it. You can always make a backup with SALT first (bootloader can be locked when you take the backup) so if for whatever reason it does get removed then you can restore it.
Btw, LG's don't support fastboot oem unlock. You need to do it via Official LG bootloader unlock website or UsU (look here in the threads) if your device isn't supported officially - if it is an EU H815 it official should work though.
fr eBay sim free. I'll look into the SALT backup.
I did a bit of work already and signed up as an LG dev and do see the LG website process which I was going to do to start.
So then adding TWRP and a custom rom will not affected the carrier unlock as well?
thanks
