Gnex automatically turn off when unplugged with battery remaining - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

This issue is somehow weird. When I do something with my phone for a while, my phone just turns off suddenly. It doesn't really power down, it is just off. Then I remove the battery and put it back, turn on the phone. Sometimes it boots successfully, sometimes it doesn't. The phone is bootable and works reliably when it is plugged in. I've tried flashing some ROMs but the issue still occurs. I don't know whether there is something wrong with battery or mainboard. I accidentally increased voltage for my Gnex via Trickster mod some days ago. I think this is the reason causing this problem.
Could you please give me some advice? Thanks.

Try to use another battery. I had the exact same problem for a while after the phone started to heat around the camera part. Try to get an app that says ur cpu temperature. If it shuts down when you do more serious thing on it like watching youtube or browsing the internet, then its 100% a battery problem.

Charging issue?

Ok so I've had the GS2 for a week now and i think its amazing. But, I've noticed sometimes when i charge it it shut off completely and does not charge. (via ac and also usb) I have to take out the battery and put back in and then it charges again. Is this a bad battery or is it a phone issue?
I haven't had that problem at all.

that is very weird
it should charge even when the phone is completely off
or when it goes to sleep mode
i'll suggest trying to do a Factory Format and see if that problem persist
it might be a software bug

Battery charging issue

This is the second time I've posted about this, hopefully someone has a solution. My battery displays that its charging 24/7. Not only is it annoying, but I feel like its depleting my battery life a great deal. I have tried wiping everything and installing different roms but the battery issue persists. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say replace the battery. Also, on another thread like this one, someone said they fixed it by powering off (?), plugging in the charger (making sure it's charging), taking the battery out, let it sit there for an arbitrary amount of time (15 minutes - 2 hours), and then putting the battery back in, rebooting. See if that helps?

You think the battery is causing my issue? I'll see if I can get a replacement. I tried your other recommendation. When I pull out the battery my phone immediately shuts off though

the recommendation didnt say that the phone should stay on... its probably gonna work anyways

Well the only way to make sure its charging is to have the battery in. Otherwise its just plugged in doing nothing
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
that is probably correct, too. I just said the recommendation didnt state the phone should stay on, so you could probably unplug it while the battery isnt in
on the other hand a new battery is 20$ and the extended one 30$
There is nothing wrong with the battery. You need to change the USB port, see http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=23789 AND comment there if you have this issue. This is a serious hardware flaw that Samsung really should look into.
I had this problem also untill I changed the USB charging board.

Thanks a lot for that info! I thought it was just an issue with a few devices. I had no idea how widespread it was

Touch Screen Issues

Has anyone else had this issue?I woke up this morning and my captivate glide was acting weird after i unplugged it from my usb.it doesnt seem to recognize when im holding or dragging something.sometimes i can click to open things but when i try to remove something from the home screen it drops it back before i can drag it to the trash can.now the funny thing is when i put it on a charger( usb or wall charger) the touch response is fine soon as i unplug it it gets finicky again.
Any input is appreciated.I will buy another battery and try that before I decide to replace the digitizer.but it was working perfectly fine till this morning.
Reboot didn't fix it? Usually the opposite of what your having happens (USB cable not being properly grounded).
Nope,reboot didn't,factory reset didn't.

I tried but nothing in the play store for screen calibration. On another note, i noticed the lower the battery gets the worse the sensitivity is.ie charging it works perfect, unplugged at 100% it works perfect but as the battery drains i can barely drag the notifications bar or an icon on the home screens.at about 50% i can click things but not drag them, and now its at 24% and working perfect.I left it on all day while at work with wifi and facebook plus other things running.Honestly i dont get it.And I've been repairing phones for a few years now.

Try: drain the battery to 50% or so, then pull the battery out and set aside for five minutes or so. Then put it all back together and start it back up. Do not plug it in until it's fully booted and you've used your phone for a while, just in case.
I have tried about everything, guess I'll buy a new battery.and if it doesnt help I will sell it.

To update it was a screen malfunction and it was still under warranty , so Samsung fixed it at no charge

Galaxy Nexus only charges when connected to PC

My phone stopped charging from its regular wall charger this morning. Now when I plug it in it doesn't do anything. If I turn it off and plug it in the battery icon with the charging icon shows up then shows it charging, then it shows the charging icon again and the same thing keeps happening until the battery just dies. The only way I can get it to charge is if I plug it into usb port on my computer. Is there any solution?

The same exact same thing happened to me today! Very strange. I restarted about 4 times, and took out the battery etc. and it just started working.

It happens when u add few drops of water in charging port.. lol
Happened to me too ..
I used every trick vacuum, hair dryer, sun-light, heat etc. but didnt work
then I dipped my phone in 100 kg rice bag for 2 days .. lol
problem resolved !
I just started experiencing the same thing. Occasionally I can get it to charge, but usually it just sits there and dies. I haven't been able to test the pc charging, as I'm currently on vacation. This is pretty random, considering I've had the phone since launch day (Verizon), and have dropped it, etc in the past with no problems; then randomly it won't charge.
Had strange problems like this. Try bending the little tab in the charging port on your phone (carefully) away from the side. I haven't had a problem since.

Your charging brick or USB could be bad. Try different cords/chargers.

I've had similar issues.
Some background: It started just after I flashed the AUG 29 AOKP Jellybean nightly. It might just be a co-incidence but I saw a couple of people on rootzwiki who had a similar issue.
I wasn't charging at all then. Only when I was turned off. I was having driver issues with computers that had connected to the phone before.
I have since reset it back to stock JB and the charging from the charger seems to have been fixed. Instead my pogo pin charging is a bit iffy. It works sometimes but not always.........
Well, I spoke too soon! NOT CHARGING from the wall again. When phone is shutdown, it charges. In Android, it doesn't.
Could you tell us what you have done so far? Any solutions that you tried but didn't work?
Have you tried:
-different battery?
-using different cable or the charger?
-straightening the metal part of the port?
-cleaning the port with alcohol?
These are the known solutions for most of the Gnex port problem. If you haven't tried already, please do so. If you're still having problem with it, tell us.
Solution
This is not a randome issue... Happened to me too only ONCE and never again
Solution
Let the phone battery die out completely and then charge a bit and boot into CWM recovery. Reset battery stats and you are good to go.:good: Or you can even try reseting battery stats without complete discharge. I havent tried the later since had this problem only once. I'm not a developer but my theory is that there is some embeded software that determines power supply and due to some reason it got corrupted.
Hit THANKS if I helped
Thank you everyone for your help. Really appreciate it. So I know I didn't get it wet. And I changed chargers and batteries to no avail. Then I tried what the last post said, to wipe battery stats. I did that and restarted. Did it again because first time didn't do anything. Now its charging fine. Great relief

I'm experiencing this problem now. But I think it's because I was messing around with 'Fast Charge' settings in my AOKP Milestone 1 ROM controls without really knowing what any of it meant. I'll try to wipe battery stats and do a few reboots. I'll let you guys know.

Same problem for me now too! =\ I'm using cyanogenmod though. I reset battery stats, formatted and factory reset the thing and nothing. Also tried a few different cables. It's also no longer being recognized when connected to PC.
EDIT: Looks like the USB connector on the device was slightly off center. Bent it up a bit and it seems to be working as normal now.

[Q] AT&T Galaxy S III problems

Ok so I have a few questions about my Galaxy s3 i747. Ok so first off I am rooted but I'm not flashing any roms, never really felt a need to. I only rooted so I could use an ext sd card for gameloft games and also the wifi tethering.
So the first problem I am encountering is my phone will just start to die. Like I will literally just watch my battery plummet. How can I stop this?
I will wake up after charging my phone fully the night before and the battery will be at around 5%, if not dead.
This morning I noticed that I left my phone on the charger because I fell asleep and the battery was at 36% and it was extremely hot! 119.7 degrees according to the battery indicator on the phone.
Also I was using setCPU and it won't let me set my cpu to over 1026mhz anymore.
Is there anything I can do to fix any of these problems?
Thanks, TheMightyBean
p.s All these problems occurred even before root.
Defective unit or rooting did something. Search how to return to stock, reroot and go from there.
