[official lollipop] [help] cant install ROM - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys. Recently updated lollipop, and now I have rooted, boot loader unlocked but s-on m8 with official lollipop. After installing Rom it automatically. Reboots to hboot. I thought manually flashing boot.img would help, but it's still the same. Any ideas how to install Rom, or how to s-off without sunshine . Thanks

What version TWRP?
What ROM(s) did you try to flash?

Sunshine is the only way. Don't ask this again. The questions gets asked several times a week, and is easy to find the answer to by searching.
You also don't need s-off to flash a ROM.
You also never need to flash boot.img separately to install a ROM on this phone. This only applies to older devices, so erase that notion from your brain, as its incorrect.

thanks for answer, but why so aggresive

I'm not being aggressive. Everything I've stated is fact.
I never make personal attacks or insulting posts.
Although, it does get tiresome answering the same (easily searchable) question hundreds of times.

Your hboot and TWRP version should all be okay. Try a different CM12 (12.1?) nightly.
Did you flash gapps?

That might be your problem right there. You need to flash gapps right after you flash CM, in order for it to boot.

It absolutely matters. Do you have the dual SIM? If so, you can only flash ROMs that specifically support the dual SIM version. S.ROM is the only one I know of, off hand.

Hmm, interesting. Are the dual SIM versions of those ROMs posted in the main ROM threads (Maximum, ViperOne, etc.) or somewhere else? I haven't seen any of these. Again, just an FYI for me, for general knowledge and sharing, as I don't own a dual SIM M8 and not too intimately familiar with it.

First of all, some more information is needed:
- are you GSM or CDMA?
- is your Bootloader unlocked?
- are you rooted?
- which Rom?
- which Kernel
Then... :fingers-crossed:

I'm really sorry, but, that's the way hov is working if you didn't do anything to improve it...
If it will bother you too much, and if you know at least basics, you can easily unlock, root, put another rom, mods... and you'll have "a new phone". Until that steps, you'll have to be with what you have... Sorry...
You can find a lot of tutorials on XDA, read them first, then, if you will decide, try them... Not necessary mine...
From what you wrote, one would have to suggest that you send it in for warranty repair

Try to do a factory reset. That can help.
But for most of the part, this problem cannot be fixed.
You can even try some other ROM and see if the problem persists.

If you couldn't flash ROM's without S-OFF, there wouldn't be any. You don't think anyone would've stumbled across that fact if it was true?

The 816 can have its bootloader unlocked, thanks to HTCs website and some guides that can be found here. There are more roms around if you look hard enough. Some of the roms are not posted onto these forms, but most of the popular ones will be here. S-OFF/ON would be nice so we dont have to void our warranties by unlocking the bootloader, but without S OFF, its alot harder to brick your device, which is nice

[Q] Verizon M9 Xposed?

I know there's a number of threads on the main M9 forum for Xposed;
There are a number of users in this thread: Xposed for 5.0.2/5.1 arm64 who are on M9s who say they have xposed working, but none explicitly say they're a VZW M9; and the Verizon users have all said it got messed up when they tried.
I attempted flashing it onto my M9, and came up to a bootloop/HTC logo screen and Android broke, essentially giving me a soft brick.
My question is: has anybody here gotten a Verizon M9 to work with xposed yet? If so, how?
Code:
In my experience, Xposed is broken on a Verizon variant M9,
I am not advocating you flash it to your device as it could brick it like it did mine.
If you do decide to, backups backups backups
Backups are your friend.
i haven't tried yet, there is this one as well http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/xposed-android-5-1-successfully-t3074586

I linked that thread in my OP, the reason why I'm asking here is because I scoured that thread and found nothing about a VZW M9, other than one other person saying it didn't work, like me.
Hmm sorry thought you had the link the the alph one... I'm gonna give it a try tonigh hopefully.... I'll post how it went:fingers-crossed:

... Hah. You linked a different thread, I totally misread and got my tabs mixed up.. My apologies!
What I said stands though.. I scoured the thread which /you/ linked, and found nothing about VZW M9s working, but other carriers yes.
The thread I linked is for 5.1, not 5.0.2; I feel dumb now, lol.
Anyway, be sure to backup before you do, good luck! If you can, please report back how it goes.
I have been using xposed on my vzw soff m9 just fine.
I have found it need to wipe cache after flashing it before booting up.
Only used on deodexed roms though, so can't comment on flashing over stock rooted

I have m8 sense version that I update to marshmallow Im s-on.
After the update I flash trwp 3.0.0 and boot of gpe and the supersu 2.67
every thing look OK ( I have checked with root checker and I'm rooted) but when Im trying to use app that need write permissions like Adaway that need to write the hosts file

And after any reboot the file goes back to default

Hi all
I figure it out
Just take a look in this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/root-root-marshmallow-gpe-supersu-t3242210
You need to flash this zip file :
m8-mmgpe-wp_mod.zip
from the thread above and this will fix the write permissions problem

I agree that the link in Post#2 could have used some additional explanation.
But I thought it was a bit strange that it seems like you spent time looking for another thread, when one with the solution was already provided?

Were you trying to say you flashed a GPE based ROM? Because that is not what "boot" means (boot.img just refers to the kernel, hboot is just the bootloader).
Based on your wording, I can see how the user in Post #2 thought you were on a Sense ROM (and supplied the wp mod for Sense). If you are trying to say you found/posted the right wp mod for GPE, than that makes more sense (no pun intended).

Custom Roms for M8S

hello, which custom roms there for M8S ? not really find anything about that ....
thank you
Lol. Click any other thread in this forum.
There isn't hardly any really for the M8S (you should have got regular M8), but there is a ported CM12.1 ROM that you could try.
Here is a link to that thread.
Sorry, but this is the only M8S ROM that I know of.
