Camera ans sdxc card - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Iam using stock camera-app. The phone loaded overnight and should save pics to sdcard. Also all possible apps are at my sdcard. After some time without changing anything the pictures i am freshly doing dont appear at thegallery or inside the camera-app. I have to disconnect the card per software and connect again. Then i can see the recent made pictures i thought they were not saved to sdcard. Any ideas?? Btw my pho took to charge from 3percent to 100 from last evening 8.30pm to 430am. I am very disappointed from this phone after the lg g2 and think about switching to s6.

Try reformatting the sd card. But the handling of the sdcard from LG is terrible on top of the Android problems.
The S6 will charge a lot faster because it has a smaller battery.
Get a Aukey quick charger. It will give you more then 1% per minute. So yo are more or less done in 90 minutes.

Thanks, its crazy but reformat the new card with. Exfat again seems to fix it. Dunno why. Used sd format tool

Battery shortcoming - fixable?

My battery doesn't last a day, and when it does run out everything gets wiped.
Is there anything that can be done about this? I install things to an external card but it is still a problem.
Seems a shame. Makes the whole thing useless to me, yet the device can almost do everything I need.
I can't even fix it into my car because that would either drain the car battery or it will run out of power itself.
Is your "beam" disabled? That can drain the battery very quickly.

If your running the original release rom , check to see if your provider released any newer versions. Orange, O2 , and T-mobile all released newer roms that improoved both battery life and bluetooth stability. Also as suggested above, turn off anything your not using directly and turn them on as you need them then back off when your done. Ie: Bluetooth , Ir beam, Wireless. as all are power hungry. Also there are alrger capacity batteries for the BA 3rd party. Another consideration is to keep a watch maybe with a battery meter, PLENTY of frebies out there just google search pocket PC freeware. and watch the internal battery as the ONLY reason you would loose everything when your external battery went flat is if the internal battery got drained or was faulty. as it retains the info while you change batteries or till you can put it on charge and usually the BA will refuse to stay on if it's low.
Another thought just occured too. SPB backup or similar and tell it to Backup the WHOLE thing to your storage card internally if it's not full OR preferrably and SD card if you loose things while your out you can literally restore the BA from the storage card as the backup file is an executable and will fully restore your BA and all it's installed programs kinda like Norton Ghost does for a PC.
It's commercial software but works really good.

[Q] Slow USB Transfer rate

My USB transfer rate from I plug in my Epic as a Mass Storage device has always been really really slow. Its usually somewhere between 100 KB/sec to 3 MB/sec most of the time under 1 MB. Yet if I pull out the SD card and plug it into a card reader I get 10-16 MB/second easily.
I wonder if anyone else gets this issue and has a solution as it has been a huge nuisance to me.
Its slow for me too. I would guess its the nice USB cord.

It was not the USB cord as I've checked that regularly. I use to think it was the USB hub on my LCD but that wasn't the case either.
I discovered issue for me was the windows chkdsk. It would occasionally report that my SD card was damaged and needed to be scan which I did however after doing so, my performance went from 3-5 MB/sec on the USB mounting to a crawl 100-300 KB, not to mention extremely slow browsing performance.
I assumed that the formatting chkdsk did something to the FAT tables/partition information in addition to a lack of wear leveling on the standard FAT.
Formatting it through the Windows utility, and through the Phone OS doesn't help. I found this nifty utility:
http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/
Which allows me to do a Full Erase/Overwrite of the SDCard which promptly restored the performance of the card back to 3-5 MB.
Now I don't suggest that fix for everyone with SD card issues as doing a full format reduces the number of P/E cycles available (prematurely wearing out your card), but it was the only way for me to restore performance.
Glad you got it working.

[Q] G2 Issue: This is seriously giving me a headache

Ok so I dropped my HTC G2 (not rooted) and the battery popped out, but there was no physical damage. The spring pops back into place when I insert my SD card. I popped the battery back in and immediately noticed that when the phone turned on, it wasn't recognizing my SD card.
I went into settings and then Storage, where it says that the Total space available on the SD card is 'unavailable' and the Mount SD card option is whited out.
I clicked Erase SD Card, which was the only option on that menu that I could click on, but the message that popped up was SD Card Has Been Removed, when in fact it's still in the slot.
I connected my phone to my laptop, and usually I would get a message asking me to connect manually through my phone to my computer. Once I click connect on my phone, then only would my computer be allowed to access the SD card on my phone. I didn't get any such notification on my phone now.
I also cannot use USB tethering so that I can use my 4G service on my laptop.
I turned my phone off, turned it on, hard-reset it, factory reset it, used another SD card, formatted all SD cards to FAT 32, turned on USB debugging, but NOTHING is working and I really don't know what to do anymore.
I don't care about the data that's on my card at the moment (well there actually is none considering I formatted it), I just need a functional SD card for music, apps, and data etc.
I've looked ALL over the internet, but no one specifically has my problem.
Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to be as specific as possible, and I also apologize if this is a noob question, but I really don't know what to do and really need some help.
Any advice or resolution to this is appreciated.
Thank you!
Sounds like the SD card tray may have been damaged in the fall, for which there is no easy fix.
"not rooted"
ur lucky
try and get a warranty replacement (or fix) for it
yeah if you have issurance a replacement is your best bet.
does your phone vibrate? if not i bet either the flex ribbon connecting the sd card port is damaged or disconnected in some way. or the whole port is bad. usually less than 15usd on ebay or amazon or wherever. takes maybe 15 min to replace
update/response
UPDATE: the seal that's supposed to indicate that there has been water damage is pink. Don't know if that's a good thing or bad, but I've never dropped it in water and never noticed the pink before, it's always been white.
ALSO FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO MINUTES TODAY, IT RECOGNIZED MY SD CARD BUT SAID IT WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED TO BE REFORMATTED. I CLICKED REFORMAT BUT IT DIDN'T DO ANYTHING. I TOOK IT OUT TO PUT IN ANOTHER SD CARD AND IT WENT BACK TO THE SAME STORY.
Don't have insurance, I bought it off of someone else.
My phone does vibrate.
How can I fix the SD card tray?
BTW thanks for all the responses, i'm really grateful for it.
Put bleach on the end of a q tip to turn the water damage indicators back to white

Auto removing USB storage.

Charged my S4 over night. Woke up to see "Removed USB Storage. USB Storage Removed. Insert New Media" notification. I didnt do anything to remove or want to remove it. I rebooted the phone.. and abut 4-5 minutes after reboot.. the message pops up again and I cannot access my external storage.

Yea that wont help me because the card cant even be read or displayed... even under device manager T_T.
I read that moisture might have gotten in the card and the best way to fix it is to bath the card i 100% alcohol and then heat in an oven at 240 "C for 10-15 minutes to clear out the moisture and maybe re-solder some of the circuitry. Is this safe and true?

Right now you have a dead useless piece of metal and plastic. I had a card do the same thing and found when I put a little bending pressure on it, it snapped easily in half. Unless you have experience and a high power microscope to view the circuitry, you will just be wasting your time as the circuit lines are quite small.

Battery Drain

I got mine from Three UK on a plan yesterday. Had one update and installed the usual everyday apps, Gapps, social media, android wear and a couple of games.
Went to bed with around 40% of juice left, closed all the background apps and went to bed. Woke up 6 hours later and phone was dead. Charged it this morning and monitored the battery. Said that it has only 8hrs left from full charge ?. Two hrs later down to 75% with very minimal use and with battery saver on. Nothing I could see that was draining the battery.
Has anyone else had this kind of battery drain or similar? I spoke to Razer Support live chat, told me that I was the 1st one to report this issue and that it shouldn't be happening. They said they'll email me today with a solution or next step.

Not always. When it was on battery saver mode it wouldn't be. But the point is that it was draining even when the phone was locked.
What's the list of background processes that are running? (I think it's in the dev options prolly)

Trying to attach the screenshot but it keeps failing, on the xda app as well as on web, keeps saying "bad request".
I kept background apps closed. Looking at the battery settings, the screen was the main drainer, 13% with screen on time of just over 2hrs. Other drainers were 3% and below: android OS, Android System, Mobile Standby, phone idle, Google services, Chrome, clash royale, WiFi.
I tend to ignore my battery for the first 2 days of a new phone. Because of the amount of apps being set up and accounts syncing and such. If it is just as bad after a couple of days, maybe a rouge app is hogging the resources? A factory reset would be another option to try
Obviously is it entirely possible that it is a hardware issue, but I'd be surprised.
I haven't done a factory reset just yet but will do it once I've tried everything else.
Something interesting has developed though. I took out the sim card and micro sd card and the battery draining has stopped, but WiFi still on. I actually realised that micro sd card wasn't even being detected, so I checked if it's even working, ended up being fried I think as my PC wasn't detecting it either.
So now I've inserted a sandisk, which was detected and needed formatting, but in the end... "This device does not support SanDisk SD card", is the message I got. (shrugs shoulders)
So now I'll just insert the THREE sim card again on its own and see what happens. I'll update in the morn.

What?!
What's the sd model number?
Don't mean to rub it in your face but battery life has been fantastic for me. All settings at max 120hz, 1440p and 3/4 brightness manually at all times.
I don't have the app usage screenshot anymore, deleted it like a div by mistake, but I had a flat line for 9hrs when I slept and didn't plug it in, only lost 2% overnight so could be a dud unit for you if you can't find a software problem.
I got 7hrs screen on time

That's amazing! That's what I was hoping for. So how long did it last till u had to plug it in, and how active are u with the phone? Thanks for sharing man.

SanDisk Ultra 64gb class 1. I believe it stopped working on my Note 4 last year though, strangely it is detected by my PC and I was able to salvage the data.

I got the 7hrs screen on time on my second day of use.
The phone was unplugged and running on battery for 31hrs, 9 of which were while I was sleeping where it lost 2% battery.
Before and after that time what I was doing with the screen on was Reddit, YouTube, Chrome, Twitch, listening to Spotify with my Bluetooth headphones, telegram messaging and the like. I don't have any social media accounts so no drainidge there. Really just general use like I would normally use my phone. The games I played were Titanfall, Shadow Fighter 3 and Monument Valley. Think the games totalled around 1hr20mins total but like I said I don't have the screenshot anymore.
Just a quick update, 5hrs later and now on 77% with 18 hrs left. The first hour and a half was on airplane mode with the sim and sd cards inside, which drained 15%. Then I took out the cards and only reinserted sim, and drainage stopped. Haven't really done much on the phone but does this sound like it's on the right path of battery drainage...?
Update...
So battery seems to be performing normally now it seems (refer to screenshot).
Now the question is...
Should I get this unit replaced? As I wouldn't want this issue to return in the future. Yesterday I went to a Three store and told them about it, they were willing to replace it there and then but were out of stock (and I didn't have the box with me). I have no idea what caused this rapid battery drainage, whether it was the sd card or the actual battery being faulty, but I wouldn't want it to happen again.
Which sd card are you using now? I guess the drain could be explained by bad code and engaging the sd card.
If it attempted to connect to the sd card all night long, that would surely suck power.
I would probably coordinate with customer service, return to 3 but have it sent back to razer to be analyzed. Gove razer the serial etc so they can identify it.

At the moment I'm not using any sd card. But the one that was inside at the time of drainage is attached. I think I had it less than a year. This phone might have fried it somehow perhaps, coz it worked in my mate 9.
I'm gonna put it back in, to see if the drainage occurs again. Either way, I think I'll take it back to three, as I've got two things to vouch for to get a replacement, the obvious and the phone frying my sd card, which resulted in loss of data.
Looks like a fake card. Is that the one u said ur note 4 may have killed?
Please contact razer though so they can get it when its received, best to get them involved so your problem doesn't get lost in returns, let alone driving cost of the units up.
I could definitely see a fake card causing battery drain. Hardware reports its a certain size and then an address request just continually times out.
Were you prompted to format it when you put it in? Did you let the phone format it?

No, this one I only bought less then a year ago. The sd card which was killed by the note 4 was a SanDisk Ultra 64gb class 1.
Strangely, I wasn't prompted to format this fake one in the photo, hence leads me to thinking that it was killed by the razer. However, I was prompted when I inserted the SanDisk, and after formatting, either of the two options, it did not work and showed an error.
I've now inserted a 3rd sd card, looks just like the fake one on the photo, but 16gb. This one was recognised and worked fine, I can see all the data on it. Had it in for 10 minutes, dropped 2% so far. I think there might be an issue with the sd card reader inside or something.
I guess it might matter too about exfat vs fat vs fat32 vs ntfs vs whatever other linux partition types there are? I can't recall them all, but I can't believe a sandisk sd wouldn't be accepted. That's like a car accessory company saying they won't make something for Fords. :/
You happen to have a walmart around where you can spend 10-20$ on another sd card, insert into pc first, maybe format it, scan for errors, then put it in the phone with a few test files on it?
I'll be able to answer this stuff if customs ever decides to put our US shipment through lol...
I would go with 60hz refresh rate and 1080p to get better battery on the razer, even at these settings its very fast no lag, if you do this also check performance in gaming settings to better battery, but honestly i have boughtboth phones lg v30 and razer and i cant see any difference between them the lg v30 and razer ,both are just as fast as each other, i must admit i like the adoptable storage on the razer as lg has locked this out again!!
