Problems with Redmi 1s - Xiaomi Redmi 1S

The details my Redmi 1s are as follow :
1) About 9 months old.
2)MIUI version : MIUI-JHCMIBL53.0
Now the problems...
1) Many a times the music player gets activated on the lockscreen accidently ( I don't know how, but when I take phone out of pocket it is activated most of tht times on the lockscreen). Also closing it require several taps on the lockscreen.
2) Since few days, the battery is depleting very fast despite my usage being same. Also it takes more time to charge. Sometimes the charging even did not work and I have to hook out and hook in the charging cable into the phone to make it work. How to identify whether the problem is with the battery or charger or phone.
3) The Auto brightness works good in brighter light but the display becomes too dim in low light making hard to use it.
4) Many a times the available free RAM is quite low even when no apps are opened. How can it would be optimized ?
Please help.

Battery percentage dives suddenly

Hello everyone,
Would like to raise a matter about the battery life.
I have updated tostock 4.2.2 recently, I have noticed recently that the battery life is being awkward the least. The device can hold up to 4 days ideal but when I start using it the battery percentage dives rapidely it can go down in 20% if the screen is on for 10 minutes. Did anyone experience this and know how to go around it? Im really troubled as it wasnt like this in 4.1.2 it could hold up to 5 hours of screen now it can barely keep with 2-3 hours!

My charge and battery drain thread is here somewhere...
You can look in settings, battery... let us know what is tops on the list.
Also look at settings, data... let us know what is tops as well.
Note: Most of the time the trouble is with google music player, this years update sux with 4.2.2. If you have 4.1.1 it is no problem.
4.2.2 also does not like media files with odd names and characters. I had to rename all my music files to 2 digit numbers, for the media to stop indexing. Folders don't seem to be the issue, just the files. I get 3% per 12 hours discharge with wifi on while sleeping disconnected from charger, and about 10% per hour under a mix use. Thus able to have 8 hours before charging. I can possibly get a week out of the tablet having sync off, power saver enabled, and Wifi off when disconnected from battery in sleep.

use power saving mode, and download Advanced task killer. Kill all apps running in the background whenever u are done or not using the tablet. and clear your "Recent applications". that should increase the battery life significantly
Same here on videos

Hi guys,
I will search your thread cause I have this huge battery drain problem too.
I'm on 4.2.2 for long now but for 1 or 2 months now, my battery drains very rapidly when I'm watching movies or series ... I can use the samsung player or MX player it's just the same ...
When I'm 100%, i loose more than 10 % in 15 minutes of watching ... in fact my train travel in the morning is 30 minutes, and If i'm watching a movie, during the trip I loose nearly 30 % !!!
The thing is when I'm playing games or do something else, there is no such drain ... and as you I get only approx 3% or 4% per 12 hours discharge with wifi on while sleeping ...
This drives me crazy ...
At 56% at 3:00 pm today (I'm french), since a discharge at 6:00 am, my batteries info from parameters are :
Screen : 39 %
Network / Radio function : 33% (what is this ?)
MX player : 16 %
Sleep mode : 3 %
And the rest is under 2 or 3 % ...
For example, I watch a movie for only 30minutes today and played Zombie Tsunami for approx 20 minutes wich only drains 2% on the battery monitor ...

I wonder if your using data connection instead of Wifi...Data would draw more power when used, that is probably why you see Network/Radio about as high as screen. I have MX player pro as well so it is not an issue with MX player.
When I watch Netflix I get about 12% an hour drain with Miracast activated. As for playing video files on SD, it can be a lot lower to a lot higher depending on size and bit rate. Remember media playback has a number of things going on, speaker / earphones, video quality, and screen brightness will draw power at higher levels. I suggest doing a test with BBC iplayer for streaming when at home since your in France. Watch about 30 minutes with power saver enabled. You should get about 5% drain at most for the 30 minute test. If you are doing that, I would think the Data connection would be your primary issue with power drain. A way you can boost battery while watching video when traveling, you can purchase an external rechargeable battery. Both Data and GPS will suck the power right out of your device much faster than WIFI and there are a few battery calibration apps that use GPS to quick discharge for faster calibration.
Hope this helps in understanding.
I've got a similar issue.
I've seen a change recently, because the battery lasts much shorter now than only a few weeks ago. I suspect it could have to do with having run the battery too low (below 20%) a couple of times, specially with my kid playing games or watching Youtube on it. 49% of consumption is the screen, 27% is Android OS, Skype 11%. I haven't installed any new apps in that tim, although I updated Skype to a well functioning version (4.6.0.42007), but with it consuming 11% of total energy, I doubt that being the culprit. I haven't change the energy conservation setting (it's turned off), so it's not that either. On the other hand I turned on Playstore apps updating recently, and that might have something to do with it.
Today the Note even went dead, I didn't notice any battery alert. Is there a way to turn a SOUND on for this. Can't seem to find it. However, the Samsung UI keeps making little ringing noises with every received mail, right up to the device shutting off (sound on message alert is turned off). Any way to turn that off?

Ah, wow! I always have my screen much higher than any app with battery consumption. I use Dolphin browser for Youtube video while browsing with flash enabled and flash.apk installed as well. I prefer the youtube app for links to youtube from emails.
As for sound, it depends on the app that sends notifications. I just block the device most of the time. Though google has options to use default notifications sometimes it can get confused when you set your devices notifications to silent. Then you must change googles notification to silent as well. I think you do that in language and input in one of the google settings for TTS or Voice. It is really a pain but then again that is why I just block and leave things be. Block is in the Notification panel. you can open the complete switch panel by choosing the squares in the upper right.
When your device hit 100%, unplug your device, turn it off and put it into the power socket. Does it say the charge is 100% or does it take another half an hour before it say 100%?
If that's the case you have a battery calibration problem. The software thinks it's fully charged when the battery is only half charged.

I am sorry to say this... but I have had my own issues with power, and that is why I made a thread about such issues.
What you describe is almost what all OEM Note 8.0 devices do. It will show charging again once you have reconnected power after charging.
It has nothing to do with calibration needed to the battery. I have done this many times with Stock and Civato's ROM. If you do not want the issue with Touchwiz DVFS, download an app to disable it. Then you will not see that sort of issue any more. I do not recommend using tools of any sort to circumvent normal operation, but many have disabled DVFS without ill effects so they have a more accurate view of charge capacity.
Nobody here, including me can tell you what is going on directly with your battery without seeing critical information. If anything post the top battery eaters before you charge. This way we can see what is happening. For the most part media seems to be the issue. As google music player will run in background as Media Server no matter how many times you reboot it will try to re index media files over and over. I froze my Google Music player so the issue is non-existent
Another issue is USB charging cables. Samsung cables are not that good. I moved on to Sony / Nokia cables as they are superior cables and a wee longer to boot.

Thank you for the reply. Regarding sound, I thought it was Samsung's @mail inbox app, but it was Microsoft's Exchange. So that is now on silent. Didn't have any effect (!). Under Settings --> Personal --> Google, sound is also set to silent (!!).
Under Language I found Language, Keyboard, Speech and Mouse pointer, and sound for key press could be disabled (it already was).
The Unit's system sounds for ringing and messages have been on silent the whole time (!!!). Still not getting rid of it.
The low energy alert, I don't know whether that is Google or Samsung's Touchwiz. I have sound (I would like to get an auditory warning)? If so, where would that be? It seems I've been through all the settings, but since I haven't been able to turn off the sound alert for incoming mail, or turn off the auditory alarm for low energy, there probably are other settings I've missed.
Come to think of it, this subject would probably would go better under a different thread.
Thank you for your assistance.

Just search on google play for DVFS... you will need to be rooted.... I like saferoot.zip, and to install xposed framework. Most gamers prefer to disable, but it does wonders for true battery reading and charging.

Battery Fast Drain

Hello,I am using Zenfone 2 16GB, 4GB ram . My battery life is bad every 3 minute %1 drain fastly ...
I can see screen time maximum 4 hour or maybe a little more for 4 hour.Screen Light %0 wifi is closed and everything is closed no working program no working bluetooth or nfc etc..I tried everthing for better battery life but ı cant solve this problem ı bought my phone one mounth ago and ı see everyday android is is using %45-50 battery.I never opened auto screen lighter or 4g or ntc. But drain, fastly every 3 minute %1 drain.my firmware is 2.20.40.58 and how can solve this problem can you help me please
To help improve battery life
1. Please ensure to turn off 'Wifi Scanning always available.'
2. Please also see the following information showing 8 ways to extend the ZenFone 2 battery Life. http://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1012981/
3. If still no improvement then recommend performing a hardware reset including cache wipe partition and try steps 1 & 3 again. http://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1011956/

None of those ASUS official 8 ways do solve the root cause of the battery drain issue.
So far I find most interesting way that may really double your battery life is to activate the "Intel Deep Sleep Mode"
Please check at the link (sorry too new to post a link)

Hi
I still dare to activate my Zenfone2 deep sleep mode following the process.
Guess what happened? I have no problem with my proximity sensor nor any issue with ZenMotion after 1 week tests.
And the battery saving effect of this deep sleep mode is working like a champ.
I have not yet calculated scientifically but the deep sleep mode at least *doubled* my battery life, which means before activating deep sleep mode I need to recharge every day of even 1/2 day. Now my Zenfone2 could work without charging for more than 1 day or even 2 days under normal use.
Now I have removed all apps related to battery saving like amplify, greenify, battery doctors, etc.
and I don't even need to close any app in startup management and the deep sleep still works and extend my battery life up to 2 days recharging cycle under my normal usage.
Although I find a side(not bad) effect so far is that the file transfer will be "deep slept" (i.e. backup progress stopped at the % where your screen turns off) and it seems the moving activity in the background is deactivated when screen off. But this is not a issue to me as I expect all apps and activities that out of my focus should not keep draining my battery. I can achieve this by stopping unkown/unecessary wakelocks through "xplosed + amplify" but I don't need them anymore as deep sleep mode seems does the same for me.
One thing really does matter to me is that will all notification still works? My test so far shows that by activating the deep sleep mode will not disable any wifi nor 4G signal nor any notification that the apps should normally give you alarms/warnings, especially wake up alarms.
I'd like to really really thank you for your advise.
I think this "intel deep sleep mode" is really a total soultion to the Zenfone 2 battery drain issue and worth a try, at least for me so far.
I don't know if this process also may apply to non-intel cpu android phones which also have the andorid os battery draining bugs.
--
can you tell me the steps to enable deep spleep mode?
I am a noob bro  but the following tweaks will certainly help u.
I use auto start manager to manage almost all except a few apps like whatsapp and truecaller etc.
Disable wifi scanning and wifi network notification in wifi advanced settings. Our phone's brightness is too much even on the lowest setting so keep it around 25-30% for lower battery drain from display.
Watch out for wakelocks, read the battery graph. I prevented truecaller and playstore from waking up device.
Turn off gps when not using.
Disable asus built in bloatware and certain google apps that u don't use e.g. i dont use google plus, talkback, hangouts and even chrome since these run in background and drain battery.
Google app is also a big culprit. I personally don't use google app and disabling it will make a big difference.
Then use data usage in mobile manager for further tweaks. Avoid 4g/3g when idle.
Mine is a 2gb z00a and i get a decent backup of around 1.5 days with normal usage with calling whatsapp browsing. Intel processor is a battery vamp and this fact can't be changed.
And not to forget after every ota update perform a cache wipe to get rid of conflicting data from previous firmware.
And this intel deep sleep mode is new to me..will also try it.

Basic features/functions breaking?

Over the past few months, I've noticed that some standard functions of my phone routinely fail and no longer seem to work properly until I reboot and/or wait a certain number of days until they magically start to work again (only to break again).
1) The auto-adjust sensor is waaaaay off at gauging ambient light. Whenever I'm in bright, sunny environments (like outdoors or by a window with sun coming through it), the brightness and backlight adjust to the lowest level so that it looks like my screen isn't on. The opposite happens whenever I'm in a room with low or no lighting, making it look like a supernova is in my hand and hurting my eyes. In the past, the sensor would eventually adjust to correctly accommodate the lighting, but now it just doesn't.
2) A large number of apps that are set up for fingerprint login immediately give me an error notification that I've exceeded my fingerprint login attempts whenever I open them, forcing me to instead log in with a pin number. Closing and reopening these apps doesn't fix the error, rebooting doesn't fix it, and clearing the app's cache and/or data doesn't fix it. I just have to wait it out until it works again, which is usually 2 days to 1 week after I've last used the app.
3) Holding the Power + Homes button no longer takes screenshots. I can fix this one by rebooting, but eventually this combo stops working again.
4) Several apps, specifically Google Maps and Chrome, will often crash up to 3 times before they're able to stay open and work. I also routinely hard crash out of everything whenever a foreground app I'm currently using (like Chrome) crashes, which causes everything open in the background (like my music or YouTube app that are playing) to also crash.
5) My battery level is stuck at 69% and won't drop. For the past 4 hours, Android OS, GSAM and BetterBatteryStats all show that I have 69% percent battery remaining and continue to show that percentage even though I have nearly 1 hour SoT. I can only get 2 hrs 15 min of SoT before my battery runs out, so I know this isn't right. This battery thing just started today.
Why is everything breaking?!? Since December, I've not installed any new apps, system updates or really traveled anywhere. Before I flashed the ROM I'm on (LeeDroid v5.2.3-R151) last November or so, I did a full wipe and did not restore any apps or settings so that everything was fresh.

Since you're having multiple, seemingly unrelated issues, there is no way for anyone to tell why it's happening in your specific case. Why don't you try dirty flashing your leedroid rom, and if that still fails, start from scratch?

My configuration

(FOR LG -H930)
Hello,
I want to share the configuration with which I have been more comfortable with this phone. as always the customs roms have their risks
After trying the following roms & kernels:
Stock rom + lg package disabled
Ion Ios Pie
Havoc Os
Crdroid
ResurrectionRemix 7.0
Bootleggers ROM 4.2 Pie
Pixel Experience
I think I've found the configuration that works best for me:
ROM = LiquidRemix 10.0
KERNEL = AK3Tachyon Enhance EAS T110
OPEN GAPPS = Nano version
CAMARAS
GCAM FOR THE WIDE LENS - DAY PHOTOS - PORTRAIT MODE
GCAM - NIGHT PHOTO
OPEN CAMERA FOR VIDEO RECORDING
* the gcams give me problems with the sound in the video recording, so I use this app
MAGISK MODULES
I know it is designed for other stock versions, but the sound is achieved in both speakers, a non-functional camera app will be installed, with no use of it.
AnxiousV30
OTHER MAGISK MODULES
PIX3LIFY
XMLPAK
YOUTUBE VENCED BLACK
WEB BROWSER
MINT BROWSER
DEVICE CONFIGURATION
Inside Settings we have the liquid lounge section, I have configured this to use the mobile with gestures:
Activate the gestures in: Gestures / Edge gestures, there are different options but this is the one that works best for me
In the screen settings I have the background color in black
With this configuration I get the following:
Stability: I have not rebooted or frozen my phone
Speed: Much difference with some other roms based on aosp and above all compared to stock
Battery: Here one of the main reasons, before almost didn't reach 4 hours screen .. now, usually reach 6, great change!
I run the stock US998 20H on my V30, rooted with Magisk, no modules in use. Hardly anything is really customized I suppose, I do use dark mode wherever possible and I do have the Dark G8 Theme installed from the Play Market. My brightness is always set to 50% unless I'm watching videos (75%) or outside (90%) but I never go higher than that - 100% brightness is bad for OLED technology especially wherever pure white is shown so I avoid full brightness always.
I keep my cellular radio off at home because I only use Google Voice - I don't give out my carrier number to anyone (there's only like 3 people + the carrier that have it) and since I'm always on Wi-Fi at home (Gigabit connection) I have absolutely no reason to have that active. Google Voice does all my voice calls, SMS/MMS, Hangouts (SMS), etc so I'm good there.
Typical SOT? 9+ hours on a charge and that is without using Battery Saver, which I never use, and that is also with a charge from about 88% down to 5% give or take a percentage point either way. The other day I actually got almost 12.5 hours of SOT but I spent a lot of time watching some TV shows ("Billions," a fantastic show, and I basically marathoned the entire 1st season so that was most of the screen on time).
I don't use a lot of things running in the background, in fact I tend to close out apps when I have no reason to leave them in the background whether they go idle or not. I have never thought that using apps like Greenify can help since it's yet another program that does use resources and does require background operation - it's just easier to close the apps I'm not using and be done with it and know for a fact they're not consuming battery.
I use Flipboard quite a bit every day, LiveNewsOn for watching MSNBC/CNN occasionally, Google News multiple times a day, Discord and Hangouts for chatting purposes, not a whole lot else really. I don't do "social media" stuff so no Facebook/etc kinda crap. LG Package Disabler Pro (purchased a long time ago) was used after a clean install of the OS to ensure what I don't need to be there and running isn't there and running.
Only phone that's ever given me this kind of battery life - and I plug in to charge once every 2-3 days, seriously - was a Samsung Galaxy S Active 7 with a 4000 mAh battery, I could run that device for 3+ days with 14+ hours of SOT most every single charge and I really do miss it.
Anyway, I do love this V30 for a variety of reasons but that crazy 9+ hours of SOT on a charge is probably my most favorite aspect so far.
Pics or it didn't happen...
First one was from a few weeks ago with ~9.25 hrs/SOT, the second from a few days ago with ~12.5 hrs/SOT, and again, I don't use Battery Saver at all, if I did, or if I lowered the brightness to 50% or less when watching videos, I'd probably go well past 15+ hrs/SOT without breaking a sweat. The ~9.25 hrs/SOT did have me charging it from my laptop's USB port for about 30 minutes, had to plug it in to move some movie files over to the device so that's why you see the slight rise in the middle there, but the ~12.5 hrs/SOT was done straight off the battery, the charge it had when I disconnected from the charger was 89% so, if it had been a full 100% charge, that would more than likely be close to 15 hrs/SOT. Might have to test that sometime and see if a 100% to 5% run could do that much SOT.
No issues with the stock ROM, no crashes, no force closes, performance is great, I have no complaints whatsoever.
Great post. Thanks for sharing your setups, I will give these suggestions a try once I get mine rooted.

Don't panic. This is Vivo X50 Pro+ forum though. Nobody here is really familiar with Pro I guess.
So what you can get is more or less general advice.
When I got the X50 Pro+ I remember that it felt hot at the beginning when I set it up. But never again. I'm not familiar with Snapdragon any more, I was on Kirin for a long time. Besides the sun shone through the window behind, that might be the reason too. And about battery - give it a little time and manage permissions and notifications of apps. But don't expect exactly the same SOT as you have on Mate - Huawei is known to have extremely aggressive battery management.
I don't know about WhatsApp, I don't use it.
But take your time and don't jump to conclusions.

Hi,
since you already own the phone, may I ask you to check if the USB is 2.0 or 3.x? I need a phone able to connect an external monitor via USC Type-C and that is not possible with the older 2.0.
Also, are you able to use banking apps with no issues?
Thanks in advance
Andrea
The usb type is 2.0. Banking apps and in store payment work flawlessly, NFC antenna is placed just right, so the recognition is instant.
My battery life is about a day & half.
