How do I factory reset my [rooted] phone? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Do I just go into the settings and factory reset like I would on a normal phone?
I know that after a factory reset, I would have to root again, which is okay with me, but can I reset like normal or do I have to unroot first?
Will resetting like normal brick the phone?

No, you don't have to unroot. Root will survive a factory reset.
Yes, you can restore it through the settings menu.
Or you can power off the phone and press and hold the volume down and power button until you see the LG logo, then release the power button (still holding the volume down) and press the power button again.
At this point, if you have TWRP installed, hit the Yes button twice and you will be booted into TWRP. From there, you can wipe /data and /cache twice and reboot.
If you don't have TWRP installed, just hit Yes twice and the factory recovery will perform a factory reset.

nowayin did it work i want to reset my lgg2 but i dont want to brick it.

+1. I want to know how the factory reset goes when rooted. Seems like it didn't go so well with the g3. Anyone?

I have factory reset my rooted g4 with twrp. Nothing happens in terms of problems. It boots intro recovery and factory resets in twrp. All went well with no issue

I want to reset my g4 but dont want it to be unrooted or have to reroot it. Is this possible in any way?

reboot into recovery, wipe and flash again. I've had to do this more than once when flashing a new rom. Also, when you wipe, wipe system, data, dalvik, and cache.
to reboot into recovery, hold power down until phone goes off. then hold power and volume up and let go when the samsung logo appears.
and relax, you're not bricked, just bootlooping.

[HELP] Phone stuck in bootloop when trying to revert to stock

I am stuck in a very weird state with my phone. I rooted my phone after the 4.3 MK2 update and flashed CWM and a custom ROM. Everything was fine, except the front camera didn't work. So I was told to flash a kernel to fix it.
After flashing the kernel, it entered a weird state, where the screen was all scrambled, and I could not get into recovery. Trying to enter Recovery would show set warranty: recovery and then a black screen. So I downloaded the MK2 stock Tmo ROM and tried to flash it via ODIN (v3.09). While ODIN says successful, the phone is stuck at the T-Mobile 4G LTE white screen for about 5 minutes.
I tried flashing the root and TWRP/CWM recoveries, but I still can't enter recovery.
Could someone please help? I have done everything I know, and I am beginning to suspect that I've damaged the phone permanently.
Do a factory reset in stock recovery. It sometimes takes a while for first boot. Worked for me.

When I press down Vol up and power, it goes blank. I can't access any recovery, stock or custom. Actually, I take that back. I never tried to access stock recovery. I didn't think I had any options to do a reset in stock. Is there?
You can do a reset there.

That worked. It looked like I pressed and held the volume up+power and didn't let go at the right time. Once I got into recovery, I was able to do a factory reset and wipe cache and it booted up.
Thanks.

Either wait 20 minutes or reboot in recovery by hold power+volume up+home buttons all at the same time and wipe cache and factory reset. Then reboot.

Ah oops. I read it with the volume down my bad. Just wiped cache then factory reset/wiped data. Its installing applications right now thanks!
You didn't wait long enough after flashing. Android is still in the process of initializing the os after a fresh flash and takes a while. If you'd have left it alone it would have eventually booted.

Read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/recovery-t3140233 you need to get into to recovery and wipe data/factory reset and cache then reboot and wait for it to boot up, it does take a while.

This is how I do it. Press the Home Button, and the Volume Up & Volume Down Buttons (To do this press down on the volume rocker in the middle ) & the Power Key all at the same time. When the screen goes blank, still keeping the other buttons pressed, slide your finger that's on the volume rocker to the volume up position. You should then enter the Recovery Screen where you can restore to factory settings and wipe certain partitions.
Good Luck.

[solved][question][softbrick] h815 can't get into twrp with hardware keys

I installed cm14.1 for cyanogenmod, restarted the device and didn't turn on usb-debugging, so I can not reach recovery with the console/terminal.
I only can get into the standard "factory data reset" menü, but not into recovery.
Is the a way to get into twrp?
solution:
confirm 2 times yes and i got into twrp without factory or data reset!
