mobile data/bricking help - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I'm having trouble with my bricked M9 and flashing RUU.
I have a Hong Kong phone, using it in Australia however mobile data keeps disconnecting, it'll work for a few minutes and disconnect. I tried the sim card in my old m7 and the mobile data works fine, so I assume maybe because the phone is a HK one so mobile data doesnt work properly. Tried to flash android rev rom but mobile data still didn't work, while flashing another rom I used twrp to wipe cache etc, however for some reason I decided to use the advance wipe, checked all the options and press wipe. As soon as I did that I lost the ability to make calls as well, when I rebooted the phone it booted fine into the new rom but it says limited service and emergency calls only, I swapped the sim into m7 and it worked fine..so I thought I've stuffed up my phone with the twrp wipe or maybe the modem just died.
Since then I've tried flashing back to android rev and leeroids but without success. Tried going back to stock. Downloaded a m9 HK RUU and renamed it to 0PJAIMG.ZIP, put it on a fat32 32g ext sdcard, and boot into download mode..flashed but it gives an error 'failed -2 19: fail to flash via downloadzip'. I've checked the file name making sure is a zero and not an 'O'
Read somewhere you may have to relock the bootloader first so i did and now i can't even boot to recovery mode..since then I've tried fastboot but it gives me an error: cannot load '0PJAIMG.ZIP'
any ideas? the phone reports firmware as 1.40.708.9 and S ON, will S OFF help me? Is the modem broken? Stupid me I should've taken the phone back instead of flashing a rom..now my warranty is void. Thanks for any advice.

Does the phone boot into a rom fully?
If so open the dialer and scroll almost all the way down, hit the only open option and choose the correct option for the sim provider hit home twice reboot

[Q] Flash new ROM after boot or recovery no longer works

I recently installed Leedroid 2.2d with A2sd on my HTC desire (unbranded) and it no longer boots (it doesn't make it past the HTC logo). It did this with the previous version but if I removed the battery and left it for a while it would eventually turn on again. Before this happened it started randomly restarting and I think that might be the problem.
Possibly useful information:
I can boot into the fastboot menu but it won't go further than the HTC Logo from there.
I can plug it into my PC and it will display "HBoot USB Plug"
Booting into recovery also only shows HTC Logo, it goes no further.
I have HBoot 0.92.0001 and the radio is 5.10.05.23.
I am trying to work out how I can re-flash in the hopes it will sort this out possibly with the RUU program and connecting from windows.
It has been a few days now and I can't get my phone working and I'm starting to get a little desperate, any help is appreciated as I'm a little overwhelmed by the amount of information available and the endless options.
I have downloaded the RUU from forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667 (RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4. 06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe) and run it.
It starts working and then stops with the message "Error[140]: Bootloader version error". How do I get the correct RUU for my bootloader (HBoot 0.92.0001)?
I have also tried Froyo downgrade (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256) but it just returned a whole lot "Error: Device not found" messages.
Tried flashing RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8_Radio_32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed and received an error about a file not being able to be opened for writing.
Just ran RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.10.405.2_R_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_142828_signed.exe and it completed successfully but it still doesn't go past the screen with the white background and the green HTC logo.
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.10.405.2_R_Radio_32.44.0 0.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_142828_signed.exe didn't work originally but I charged until it was fully charged and then tried booting it again and it worked.
I had taken my sim and sd card out so I switched it off and put those back in and again it booted up fine. I was then switching Wi-fi on and it suddenly restarted and now it refuses to boot again.
Any ideas?
I can now consistently get it to boot by doing the following:
1. Remove battery
2. Put battery back
3. Charge until full and then leave plugged in for about 15 minutes.
4. Switch phone on.
Unfortunately it is still randomly re-booting while using the phone, could be it be a bad partition on the sd card?

try flashing the bootfix on the first post of LeeDroid thread
EDIT: here it is http://db.tt/QLu5cPL
Thanks for replying. How do I flash the bootfix?
Also, I don't have Leedroid anymore and I am back on stock Froyo ROM.
you flash it the same way you flash leedroid. through recovery.
have you rooted after you flashed the RUU? if you have, flash LeeDroid, flash bootfix and then reboot.

I used ROM manager to flash leedroid so I'll try a that again. I'll have to try it later as luck would have it, I can no longer boot using the fully charged battery method

have you rooted? you can do it manually via recovery. hold down volume button while turning the phone on, then choose recovery. you can choose zip file to install.
i've never flashed anything using ROM manager so i don't know how it works. does it reboot automatically after flashing something? if that's the case, then you might need to do it via recovery. because you need to flash the fix before rebooting.
More frustration. If I take the sd card out it will boot up so that I can see the home screen but then it just reboots again, and again, and again at the same point.
When I put the sd card back again it gets to the HTC logo and stops again.
This is really starting to annoy me

I have yet to get recovery to actually run, always stalls on the HTC logo. I also can't get the phone to start with the SD card in so I can't load files onto it.
One thing I've noticed (unless I've missed something) is you've not tried another SD card. I'd give this a go as it may be corrupt

I don't have a spare one but I might be able to get a mini sd card reader and then format it via windows. Would that work as well?

i'd try that if i were you. this goes without saying but make sure you back up first.
I actually don't think any of the above made any difference...
I just put back my SD card and the phone is working perfectly again. The only thing I can think of is that during the day it is too hot and it is cooler now (at night). This seems to be backed up by this thread - forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=676402
has been running since yesterday evening without a problem. Weird...

[Q] OTA Update caused phone to not boot

Hi,
I know next to nothing about phones (although am OK when it comes to computers). I've an HTC Desire which I've had a couple of months which I've not touched the operating system on. I received an OTA update yesterday which I duely installed. The phone has been unable to boot since.
From reading around I've discovered that there's a recovery mode which installs a file update.zip from the SD card. I'm assuming this is what's corrupted on the phone (as it won't boot by installing this file either).
HTC have been no help, neither have O2 in the UK. They all seem to think wiping the data is the only solution and if I try anything on my own I'm going to invalidate the warranty. I can't see how installed a working official update file will invalidate anything, but I'd just like a copy of the file to try.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix the phone without having to do a hard reset?
Thanks.
Before the update were you getting an o2 logo when booting up the phone? If so, download the file at the bottom of this post and then:
1. Turn the phone on holding the back button to get into FASTBOOT
2. Connect phone to the PC
3. Once drivers are installed run the file
It should get you back to stock BUT it will mean losing all data on the phone
File to download:
http://ship.ibeta.org/shipped/Bravo...00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_144166_signed.exe
Yes, I still get the O2 logo when I try to boot (it just gets stuck at the logo). The phone is still stock, I've never tried to mess with it before, it's just had an automatic update installed which corrupted it.
Is there any way to get the phone to work WITHOUT losing the data on the phone?
Otherwise I'll try that file (or follow the hard reset instructions).
I'm currently becoming a quick study of all things phone operating systems.
Unfortunately not

Would not an update.zip from another phone be able to fix the problem?
Or is there a way of getting the data off a phone stuck at the boot screen?
I'm beginning to feel that the old expression about microsoft building bridges might be better applied to phones. I can normally fix my computer when things go wrong and not lose the data if I do need to rebuild.
The ONLY way you can get it working is to wipe the cache - which you can't do with a stock ROM. All you can do is either wipe the data as it is or install the RUU
Surely there must be a way to wipe the cache without wiping the data?
Is there a way of getting a working recovery file onto the SD card and getting the phone to boot off that? I'm assuming that won't mean I lose all the data.
As I've already said, there's no way of doing it. You're going to have to lose your data unless you root first, back it up then wipe but to restore you'd have to root again
If there was a way of doing it I think I'd have posted it by now

[Q] Recovery is corrupt and stalls at 'waiting' - Can't flash

I have been trying to root my incredible 2 ver 2.3.4 and managed to get it unlocked so I could change carriers. However, in the process of trying to also root the phone using adb I seem to have flashed improperly somehow and corrupted the recovery image instead of replacing it. Maybe I got hold of a corrupt TWC_recovery image and that is the problem. I was trying to flash TWC and it claimed to work but upon trying to reboot into recovery it simply sits at the white HTC screen and stalls.
When I use the cable and ADB to tryi and flash clockwork instead of TWC it apparently is not communicating with the phone. I used adb devices and the list is empty.
Incidentally the phone still boots up good and works fine as a phone but recovery mode using the phone menu is also history. Is there anyway to fix this. It seems like a catch 22 and I am stumped. At any rate, not being able to flash eithere using the phone itself or adb and the laptop has me stymied. Anyone have any ideas. I want to root also and it seems I have to get back to 2.3.3 in order to do that.
My experience is limited. I have successfully rooted my Hero (previous phone) and my Toshiba Thrive in the past though. All went well with them.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated with proper thanks.

download a recovery then rename it to recovery.img then boot your phone to fastboot and connect it to pc put the recovery into your fastboot folder then run this command
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
this should fix your recovery NOTE ADB commands doesn't work until your phone boots up completely hence recovery is always flashed using fastboot commands
Or better yet, install rom manager and click install recovery

When I try to install clockworkMod Recovery via Rom Mgr it downloads ok and then as it tries to install it dies with the error 'An error occurred while flashing your recovery.'
As I said earlier, when I try using the pc and cable it stalls on 'waiting' because it can't communicate with the phone.
The phone no longer goes into USB Boot like it did earlier..... it did though prior to the corruption.
Any other ideas? Thanks for the help.

Ver 2.3.4
I tried each of the methods in the earlier posts in the thread and neither worked for me. In the process, I have screwed something and now my phone will not boot into normal phone mode either.
Somehow I have corrupted something that is preventing my flashing a new recovery. Since it is not rooted, I am not sure what I can adb flash and what I can't. I have tried flashing both Clockwork recovery and TWP and although adb reports success the phone will not go into recovery. It simply displays stuck on the white screen with the HTC logo. I also tried flashing by zipping up a rom and clockwork recovery and renaming the zip PG32IMG.zip, loading it onto the sdcard, and loading it at bootup of hboot. It shows loading, then I select reboot bootloader, then try loading recovery and the same thing. Stuck on the HTC white screen. Now, the phone will not boot into normal phone mode either but just sticks on the white screen. I am wondering..... do I need to do a wipe or anything else prior to flashing the recovery? Maybe partition is bad. I don't know the procedure for any of that. I appreciate any help I can get.

I have tried that but it won't work because my phone is has hboot-0.98.0000 and when I follow the exact described procedure to change back to 97 it fails.
Is there some guru that fixes these for a living I can send the phone to? Anyone know? :crying:
What carrier are you planning to switch to? On the GSM side, you will most likely get no faster than 2G or 2.5G / Edge speed on data, depending on the radio band used by your provider. It is reliable & dependable for voice and/or WiFi calling with excellent battery life.
SInce you've tried to fixed it a number of ways with limited luck, you should consider flashing one of the factory/VZW's RUU file to restore it back to stock condition, unrooted - then, start the process over. The tacoroot method is what I've used last year to fixed one that appeared to be 100% brick.
PM me if you have trouble locating and want to use the RUU files as I believed that are no longer on the server - see what I can come up with from offline storage.

I have droid Incredible 2 by verizone. I got it unlocked and S-OFF to use custom rom.
During the process, SD card is not detecting any more. Also, USB debugging is not functioning. Therefore, I cannot use any custom ROM now.
I have flashed Chinese 3.07.1401.3 as S710D. Because any of original Vrizone rom are not loading. The current situation is that all functions
are working except which are related to SD CARD, like photo/video, music, software download etc.
USB HOST CONTROLLER shown that S3C usb driver is missing. Please help.

You are most likely missing the correct HTC drivers or have corrupted ones installed. Uninstall & clean it off your PC first, reboot & start over (or, use/borrow another computer to do this - look into the Control Panel ...)
Unless you are planning or using the DI2 on a Chinese carrier that support CDMA and/or GSM, you could run into issues - and, getting it to reset & work properly back on CDMA with VZW could be problematic too.
As for the SD card read error, have you checked its usability on the PC or another device directly, do you have another mSD card to check & verify that the slot ont the device isn't broken/damaged/dirty, etc. ?? Format it on a PC to FAT32 and copy a dummy file, re-insert to DI2 and see what happened ...

n910v unlocked boot, twrp, twrp reboots on any rom install

so i followed the recent bootloader unlock, i have the retail in developer mode, i got twrp installed, this i where it gets messy, it went into a bootloop, so i did a wipe on the cache and davk cach, didn't work. even pulled the battery, so i tried the format. same problem, did work, so i did a wipe again which i think i really broke it when i wiped all but the sdcard, so now, NO OS. so i'm trying to get files to reflash stock roms, i found downloads to the stock files btw, currently downloading.
so, i have twrp

no OS installed
bootloader is confirmed to be in developer mode
can't get phone to access fastboot. via adb
only recovery and download avaible
[edit, i can move files onto my sd card by using another phone to move files]
so do i continue with trying to use idon to flash stock rom onto the phone? will twrp still be installed? and will i keep my developer unlocked booloader?

it failed. so i pulled phone in battery and tried to turn on recovery, it sent me to the download screen and said the verizon update failed. tried to reinstall rom again. pulled battery. said same thing.
i reflashed the TWRP i was using with odin, doing the AP button with it too.

I'm glad that you fixed it, but I just wanted to say what I think your problem was so that other people can fix it with a little less pain.
The bootloader unlock writes files to your sd card during the process. That's why the instructions state to use an SD card that you can set aside later. If you leave that SD card in the phone when you boot, you will bootloop. Simply removing the SD card and putting in another one will work. You can also remove the SD card, format it, and put it back in.

Yeah I was thinkong about that. I had pulled the sd card right after due to boot loop. Think it had to do with the sd card. I messed a step up I believe there at the end.
Sorry for the late reply guys

Note 7 SM-N930F Need to donwgrade

Hello!
I just got another Note 7 phone that I am trying to rescue and make usable for me.
I got used to HydraRom 1.4.5 on my primary phone.
The phone I am trying to rescue is SM-N930F.
It has SM-N935F ROM on it, some useful info:
Firmware: N935FXXU1AQI5_XDAVN_STABLE
PDA: N935FXXU1AQI5
Baseband: N930FXXU3BPL1
The phone has TWRP 3.2.1-0-gracelte on it.
I tried to flash HydraRom via it, I suceeded but when I turned on the phone and put my SIM card in, on every restart it says something about SIM Update...
I Have IMEI and S/N on the HydraRom so EFS is not corrupted. I am able to take calls on the phone and messages. But the connection is only 3G/H+, on the Note 7 FE Rom I wrote above LTE and everything works fine. On the HydraRom i can´t access LTE or it still says SIM update.
I tried to flash FULL firmwares BL+AP+CP+CSC N930FXXU2BPI7 which work fine on my primary Note 7.
But ODIN fails to flash BL because of it is downgrade. It fails on param.bin and phone writes SWcheck rev fail.
So for the right functionality I tried to load HydraRom via TWRP and then only CP+CSC which ended by null IMEI.
After my last experience I made whole system backup including EFS so when I restored everything works fine on the Note FE rom.
I am now little bit afraid of flashing because at some point phone could not be booted up or TWRP had problems with unmountable data or extractTarFork() process ended with ERROR: 255
Can you please give me little help how to have: Working HydraRom, with LTE, OK IMEI.
Donation to your PayPal for sure.
It is easy to downgrade for N930F,l. Just flash a combination and then you can flash U1 firmware.
I solved my primary problem with no LTE connectivity, but not with flashing combination, just by reflashing another official ROm then installing HydraRom, thank you.
But I have another little problem.
I have many Note 7 phones home and when they are turning on there is Black font on white screen. After that Samsung logo animation starts to appear.
When I was installing HydraRom i ticked by mistake to replace bootanimation by HydraRom.
I would like to have stock one. But his can´t be done by reinstalling the ROM because there are two possibilities: keep the current animation or install HydraRom animation.
I tried to copy all bootnimation .qmg files in system/media/ from phone with original bootanimation to one with HydraRom animation, it does not make any difference. I replaced files with root explorer and also tried with TWRP file manager.
I also tried reinstalling whole AP via ODIN and installing United States ROM, odin passed and ROM was installed OK, but whole problem was that the bootlogo was still there.
HydraRom Shows instantly after pressing power button.
That logo appears also when entering Recovery or download mode. Whole AP was replaced and didn´t replace the logo.
I want to have that Note 7 in best condition for future, as I want original Bootanimation and so during system startup.
Can you pelase tell me where to find those files and how to replace them? Or do I need to replace Bootloader via ODIN?
Thanks
I solved this problem, developer answered me that it is not about bootnimation but about splash screen. So I reinstalled stock one via HydraRom but this was also possible to do by reflashing bootloader via odin.
