Read that ! Very clear answer.
The answer says:
None of the above will work on your device.
Never ever flash a custom ROM meant for M8_UL and its variants on your M8 Eye.
You'll risk a brick.
And then Team SkyDragon given some suggestion to install rom ,
Should i go ahead to those step ?

If you read that previous comment and understand what skydragon says, then go ahead (assuming they know you actually have the M8 EYE !) If it's bricked it's on your behalf......
And i don't see any mentioning of HTC M8 EYE in their rom opening post !

No idea. Check for a ruu for the M8 EYE or a backup if it's available somewhere. Too hasty to perform a backup or to read up first on hardware and software specs......
Good luck !

HTC M8 Rom Issue
Hello, I Have also M8 Eye and i want to upgrate nougat via Cynogen mode. I do all instruction and i believe that i have some mistakes.
Now i have similar problem Fast boot stuck.
- First step is bootloader unlock, i make by HTCDEV account.
- Fastboot i do as instruction.
- TWRP recovery is done also
After that i setup Synogen, but now my phone doesn't open as normal system. Always coming Fastboot mode. I could not open that.
When i setup Cynogen via TWRP give me "E:unknown command [log] error" other all things are normal.
When i reboot my M8 it is turning back to fastboot mode.
Also I've tried to use stock, htc ruu is not working on my device.
Finally I've tried many thing but my phone now wont be open.
So, what can i do for fix my phone?

You need to revert to stock M8 EYE to fix it. No other M8 ROM can work for your device.
Post fastboot getvar all result to see your device details and to see whether any RUU or nandroid backup available.

Provide the details on the commands used, the exact error messages, etc.
We can probably help, if you provide better information than "some error"!

Hello guys, I am on vacations at my cousin's apartment who lives on the other side of the world (Croatia). He has an HTC One X that he doesn't use because he says the battery doesnt last long. I have a few questions that I hope I can get helped with since I will stay here for only 2 more days. I bought an HTC One M7 a year ago as my first Android and learned on my own how to S-OFF, SuperCID and flash ARHD... so I am looking to do the same on his device, but don't have much time to research on my own.
1) His phone says One X UKR on the back (a sticker since he has never used it it seems). Is the hardware different to, say AT&T version? I remember that all HTC One M7 were the same so there was no problem SuperCIDing to 11111111 and flashing any firmware thereafter
2) What is the least demanding ROM I can install so that the battery lasts the longest? The simplest the better as my cousin is 52 years old and cant be bothered learning a difficult OS.
3) Are there any drivers for One X for Windows 8.1? I have a Surface Pro tablet, nothing else.
4) What are the HBTOOT requirements for S-OFF?
Thanks.
If it is an international one x then you can't achieve s-off without sending it to a specialist shop which are very rare.
You can unlock the bootloader at htcdev website and install any Rom you like without s-off but you will need to flash the boot.img from a pc using fastboot commands
If you boot into the bootloader by holding volume down & power it should tell you at the top which version you have:
endeavour u (international tegra3)
Evita (us snapdragon)
As for windows 8 drivers, I know they are available but not sure where to get them from mate, just search google

This is what I have... So I guess I cant get S-OFF then.
1) What custom ROM is the best battery lastingwise? Is there an ARHD for the One X? Sorry to bother so much, wish I had more time to read up on my own.
2) Not even sure if this phone is unlocked or not, is it hard to unlock it so that any SIM card is accepted? Thanks!
Ok, I've done some reading, and I found out ARHD exists for the One X. My cousin's phone is on 3.14 firmware and ARHD here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562603 says it is on 4.18
How do I update to 4.18? Can I flash a firmware or is it OK if I update the phone from "Settings" before unlocking and rooting it?
I know that for the One M7, you need to update firmware first before installing the ROM.
If you are on the 3.14 official you do not necessarily need to update the firmware. You can flash that rom straight away
To SIM unlock first try a SIM from a different network carrier, if it asks for a code then you need an unlock code.
There are 2 options
1. Call the network that supplied the phone and see if they will give you the code at no cost to you.
2. Use an unlocking service on eBay, this is what I did because my provider T-Mobile UK (EE) wanted to charge me over £20, instead I got the code from eBay for £2.99, here's a link if your interested mate: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=111262080291&alt=web
This is the seller I used and I got the code within 10 minutes and it worked perfectly.

Thank you, I know how to do all those things, but on ARHD page under the requirements it says:
---Proper HBOOT version for Jelly Bean based ROM - How To change Hboot
And it shows a link to a 22 minute video... is this required or can I just ignore it (I have HBOOT 1.36)
Thanks again!
EDIT: you say to flash boot.img then full wipe then install rom, but http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069904 says to flash rom first then flash boot img... is it the same?
Like i said ...
It doesn't matter if you flash the boot.img before or after mate, I always flash it first.
While the M8 is a nice device, I hate it. This device has caused me no end of problems..
Every time I try to flash anything, it kills it, boot loops, stuck at HTC logo, etc... I've never had so much trouble with any device, even changing simple settings seems to do the same.
Changing the dpi - Stuck at HTC Logo...
Installed Xposed (Not using ART) - Stuck at HTC Logo...
Restore Nandroid Backup - Stuck at..... blah blah blah...
So I'm trying to get back to stock and then maybe start again. If I try to flash my stock recovery backup, it then won't boot into recovery it just goes back to HBoot, I've tried downloading Stock Recoveries, but I'm not sure if it's the right one. I've tried zipping the recovery into the 0P6BIMG.zip and flashing it through HBoot, but this doesn't work. My version-main is missing so, I can't check it with the one in the android-info.txt. I think it's something to do with Firewater S-Off.
I'm stuck, anybody else having similar problems...
Thanks ...John...

I see that you're S-OFF, but is your bootloader still unlocked? There's a method of unlocking/locking the hboot without HTCDev if you're S-OFF. You could try running a RUU exe then unlocking your bootloader again. S-OFF will stay through the RUU.

Yeah, My bootloader is still unlocked. I had used HTC Dev before using firewater too.. I think the problem was there before I'd S-Off'd, so I don't think Firewater caused that, but I had read that some people had missing a version-main after using it...
I had thought about flashing an RUU, as this has usually been the answer in the past, but I could only find them for the Verizon and T-Mobile US versions. As far as I'm aware they haven't released one for the international version..
I was thinking about converting to the GPE edition. Hopefully replacing the HBoot and recovery in the process, but would I still need to know the version-main..
:fingers-crossed:
Thanks ...John...
Missing version-main is a TWRP 2.7 problem.

By the looks of things you only did S-OFF, rooted perhaps, custom recovery(Hence missing main-version) but you haven't converted to any other device and/or went with SuperCID? Did you do an OTA update to the newest 2.xx.xxx.x firmware? If not then perhaps you're device is still on the 1.54.61.5 version.
You can grab a nandroid backup + stock recovery from the COLLECTION of Stock backup's thread. ORANG001 is in there. Assuming of course you either did an OTA(When you bought the phone back in the early days) or bought it before the 2.xx.xxx.x update, chances are that your version number that you're looking for is 1.54.61.5 so that settles that issue then.
Yeah, I unlocked the boot loader with HTC Dev, then S'Off'd, rooted it and then installed a custom recovery almost straight after getting the phone. I then flashed ViperROM so I definitely didn't do any OTA's.
I didn't bother with SuperCID at the time because I didn't need it, I was just flashing ROMs, mostly. Then I stated noticing that almost every ROM that I'd flash would just hang at the HTC logo.
I managed to to restore the stock rom from my backups, but the recovery wouldn't take, although this is just a backup of the custom recovery that I first flashed. I had tried the orang001 backup from the collection of stock backups, and that wouldn't work either, and the same with the custom recoveries from the same page..
If I flash Philz recovery though, this works every time... TWRP I had some trouble with, but got it working eventually.. I just can't seem to get a stock recovery to work, no matter what..
Thanks ...John...

T-Mobile HTC One M8 won't update to lollipop
I just recently saw that the 5.0 update was available for my phone today, so i downloaded it and i installed it, but recieved this error.

I went through these steps in order:
1.) Downloaded the update
2.) Swapped back to original recovery (from TWRP)
3.) Did full (permanent) unroot from SuperSU app
4.) Attempt #1 at updating. Failed with this error.
5.) Did factory restore from recovery.
6.) Attempt #2. Same result, same error.
So I'm really lost. Anyone have any ideas?
Before any one asks, my phone is running 4.4.4, is S-on, stock ROM, stock recovery (now) and is the T-mobile version, not the GPe.

I had this same error. I just used the 4.4.4 RUU for T-mobile to return to complete stock. Then OTA updated. Worked like a charm. In your Bootloader, does the screen have "Software Status: Modified" at the top?

Well if somebody has time to unpack the RUU, you can flash the ROM zip through hboot with an SD card. Just rename it 0P6BING.zip, put it on an SD card, boot into hboot and confirm the flash. Maybe ask in @Garmig's thread.

So, i found a copy of windows last night, installed on my mac so i could use the RUU. Got computer setup, drives etc installed. downloaded the RUU, relocked boot loader... this is when all the problems started.
Once the bootloader relocked, it went into a loop. Never being able to go anywhere besides the Hboot. None of the choices work, including factory reset.
In windows when i Run the RUU, it unpacks and then closes. tried downloading again. Same result. Got to frustrated so i turned phone off went to bed. This morning, tried to unlock bootoader again, but now i get this msg

Jeffreys-MacBook-Pro:~ TipTop$ fastboot flash unlocktocken /Users/TipTop/Desktop/Android/Unlock_code.bin
sending 'unlocktocken' (0 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.126s]
writing 'unlocktocken'...

Im very new at all this, so please don't take offense if i don't know proper lingo or appreciative techniques. it isn't meant to be disrespectful at all.. question regarding the sd card method. Is this the removable mini sd card? or the internal one?

Must be external/removable sdcard. Zip must be named appropriately and on the root of the card eg sdcard/0P6BIMG.zip.
Many Thanks!

Once the Rom.zip is done, what else do i need to do?
for understanding purposes, what happened? I'm very curious person and followed directions very carefully. Anyway, again, thank you both for such quick replies.

Thank you both for your input last night and today! I greatly appreciate all your help, and more so, your patience with a newbie!
Once the update has completed flashing from the SD card, is my phone back to stock minus the *relocked* stamp in bootloader? Or are there other flashes that I will need to apply to bring software and hardware up to date?

You should have been able to watch the flash output right there in the bootloader assuming the flash completed successfully you are on the latest firmware and software for t-mobile. There's nothing else you need to do as far as that. If you want to unlock again go to HTC dev get a new token and unlock as usual

Don't have your model 816, mine is single SIM a5_chl but this forum link had some answers for someone else with your model. Luckily your not really "hard bricked" because you can still enter hboot/fastboot but I understand why you say that. Hard bricked is when your phone is literally an expensive paperweight. Luckily you still have access to your boatloader and that's where most problems can get fixed. By the way what specifically happened that caused this issue? You're boatloader is locked and your not rooted so pure stock right with stock recovery but you can't get into recovery?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-816/help/a5ul-unable-to-flash-ruu-t3294835
Also if you press the power button to select hboot you should go to fastboot mode where you can use volume key to select recovery then press power button to enter.
Below is a link to stock RUU's for yours and other models but you'll need stock recovery installed and working before they can be run. Hopefully your stock recovery is still there just need a different way to enter it i.e. Boatloader or key presses. Only flash your specific versions firmware.Try the one your were currently on before trying one older.

So you went into fastboot mode and when you press your power button to select hboot what happens?
Below is a link to a forum for the a5_ul with a link to the stock recovery. Verify this is your version then try flashing it using ADB/fastboot on your P.C. and your phone in fastboot mode. Do you have USB debugging selected in your phone developer options settings?

Did you have the HTC drivers installed on your P.C. or Linux computer?
flashing it using SDK Toolkit /ADB fastboot is doing it manually. The other method is to name the file a specific way so that your phone recognizes it but I have never used this method before. I downloaded the portion of the SDK Toolkit I needed, ADB/fastboot and had the HTC Windows drivers installed from HTC sync manager then put the recovery zip file into my ADB folder in my P.C. then opened command prompt from my ADB folder and typed fastboot flash recovery"name of zip file".img with my phone in fastboot and it flashed. This is what you should try and I'll link some instructions below. Good luck.
http://androidforums.com/threads/cd...ry-image-via-fastboot-or-from-sd-card.385358/
Also if ADB isn't recognizing your phone and you do have the drivers installed then it may be because of what's happened to your phone and then you would need to try and flash from your SD card with the file properly named for your version so that fastboot on your phone will recognize and flash it. I don't know what the proper name is for your version but a lot of the time it's already properly named. How did you lose your recovery in the first place with a locked boatloader and no root?
I must be getting tired. I believe you need an unlocked boatloader to flash a recovery image so you might not be able to flash it. If you can't get into your recovery thru H boot, press power button, volume button to select recovery, enter by pressing power button, then your going to need to flash the stock RUU or zip file with the stock recovery included in the file as you can flash an RUU with the boatloader locked. The issue is will the signed file recognize your firmware as it is now and flash? Wish this was my expertise but I've only flashed RUU files to start my devices clean again not to fix a problem.

I know my friend I read it the first time and I understand all that. I'd try the flash with your recovery zip and see if that works. If not then you'll need to flash stock RUU's until you find one that will work but only ones meant for your version . Did you click that one link I gave that was to a forum here in XDA because that forum looked like it was very similar to your problem ?

Thanks for the assist TobiBot. I don't have this version of phone and didn't catch this forum link when I was looking thru XDA. O.P. says he is flashing this way and not from ADB/fastboot and still keeps getting the" older version" notice. I read the whole forum you linked to and found this a few pages in. His radio I.D. is invalid in Getvar all he posted so maybe your suggestion combined with the above posters quote he can make it work. Hopefully just the fix you linked to will do it but if not this might get him the rest of the way.

The last quote above from the Misctool suggestion. Never tried it or heard of it but all options should be looked at to fix O.P.'s problem. Hopefully the last poster's help fixes it and this idea is moot but at least it's linked here for the next guy.

Hey, whenever I attempt to power on my m8 (bought it from ebay) it won't boot up and the only responce that I can get out of it is when I hold the power button the the volume button down it will go into the bootloader screen but whenever I try to go into the rrecovery section, the second that I press the power button to select that option it wil display the htc startup white screen, It will show that for about 10 seconds and will then turn off again, I'm not very phone literate so any help is much appreciated thanks!

Can you post your getvar all info? You need fastboot for that. Post this please and remove imei and serial no.

How do you boot into recovery? You need to select that in hboot and wait till you see a phone with a red triangle. Then you need to hold the power button and click only once vol up to entering stock recovery
Sorry the phone isn't wanting to cooperate atm, won't do anything for some reason, will message back after work.

I haven't seen a RUU for this phone. The only option right now you could try is to flash firmware according these instructions posted here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60218734&postcount=5
Your OS is 6.12.61.4 so the first file linked in this post is the correct one. Download and follow instructions at the end of the linked post. Maybe you're lucky.

Flashing firmware alone will not get the phone running. By definition, even on a working phone, flashing firmware makes the phone unable to boot, as it expects an RUU is be run.
Alternately, the OP can try to unlock the bootloader, install TWRP, and restore a stock TWRP backup from the first posts of the same thread you linked the firmware from: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860

I have to disagree. There is no RUU for my cid as well and just flashing firmware didn't produce any booting issues. How should he flash twrp and restore a backup when his phone just shuts off as soon as it booted or rather it doesn't stay on?

I agree, he probably won't be able to.
And along those lines, if it shuts off while firmware is flashing (particularly hboot or radio) he will BRICK. Although, the phone may be close to death, anyway.

Did you get that phone in this condition or was it working before? If it was working before what did you do?
Can you post your getvar all info? You need fastboot for that. Post this please and remove imei and serial no.
