for installation cm 12 and up you need to change your recovery to TWRP Recovery. because problem verification signature on CWM and old recovery from CWM so CWM can't read and execute file from cm 12 and up. you need to change your recovery to twrp to flash cm 12

happy to know that you have solved the issue
hey,
recently i've tried to install rom based on ios 4.4, unsuccessfully.
the problem i had is that my recovery (aka twrp 2.6.3.0 and then 2.7, and then some rubbish cwm, ) failed to install anything beyong ios 4.3.
so... what version of recover do i need for 4.4? wha t do i need to do to install cyanogenmod 11?
thanks.
please elaborate what error are you getting ?
with twrp im getting 'failed to install' , and with cwn 'cant mount sdcard' .
I'm guessing that BL is unlocked.
Fastboot boot.IMG from the cyanogen mod zip.
At phone boot enter recovery and flash the cm zip from recovery (after flashes)

I was trying to install CWM recovery on this phone , I used Odin to flash recovery . I flashed recovery then removed battery and then booted to recovery then CWM loaded but as soon as I restarted the phone and again tried opening recovery phone took me to stock recovery , how can I solve this? I am running 4.2.2 firmware . And also I tried flashing CM11 with this temporary CWM but package installation stopped because of a error (status 7) saying some problem with partition , I was not rooted at the time . Is root needed to flash CM11 ?

1. Once u boot into CWM recovery flash SuperSU (If u don't have get it from here). This will ensure that the recovery doesn't revert back to stock.
2. Status 7 error has various reasons. Ensure that u r using most latest recovery and perform clean install.

First of all root your device.
Secondly install philz recovery using odin.
Then flash your desired ROM
(i suggest you aogp dual sim).
PM me if you need any help.
All the best

emmc is a partition i believe, if you see such errors, recheck if you are using the correct recovery... I flashed my tablet with wrong recovery and it wiped out all my partitions. It's as good as a brick now if not worse.

Are you using the recovery from the CM12 Lollipop thread? Try flashing a different recovery.

Do these… just install the CWM recovery… ..then find the backup on some threads which is the same as your phone variant then restore it..

Did you factory restore / Wipe data/cache
before restoring?
-If you have not I recommend doing so now.
-Now try flashing a different recovery in Fastboot USB mode; such as Philz CWM.
-Then try to install CM11.
-Now put your backup back where it needs to be:
Philz CWM: /data/media/0/clockworkmod/backup
Original CWM 6.0.5.1: /data/media/clockworkmod/backup/
If that didnt work then try from step one with factory restore in recovery mode again but now instead of flashing any recovery flash the one specifically from the CM11 Official thread then continue with your restore.
This is because it is different from the one in the actual CWM 6.0.4.8 thread.
The one from CM11 official thread is 6.0.5.1 and fixes the black recovery screen issue people have when using the one from the 6.0.4.8 thread or when flashing Philz / TWRP for the first time.
After flashing the one from CM11 Official it (allows?) the device to flash other recoveries properly.
Weird bug, I know.
