Wi-Fi control on this phone is a bit flakey. Use this app and your issue should be solved.

Yeah there are 3rd party apps knocking about but was hoping that I just missed a setting.
Tbh im astounded that this phone doesnt turn off wifi when out of range from my home network. Asus gave this phone every app known to man but cant auto turn off wifi ?
Cheers anyway

They will most likely fix it in an update. With early versions it would not even remember the Wi-Fi sleep settings.

I've never seen a built-in app to turn WiFi off when leaving a specific network.

My previous phone, Lenovo A830 had it, worked flawlessly, wasnt an app though, just a setting feature.

[Q] note 2 wifi issue on at&t

i just bought the galaxy note 2.. love the phone' however i cant stay connected to my wifi for some reason it connects them a minute later goes back into 4g mode please help...
I thought it was the phone so replaced it... same issue how ever it will connect to att hotspots.. go figure thanks
I'd say check your router first. Mine at home is a pain sometimes with my sons' ipod touches plus desktop plus netbook plus tablet plus my phone sometimes it drops. We end up turning it off for a few seconds which fixes it. Overload I guess?
There is also a known issue with the att wifi app. I forget what is called because i got rid of it a long time ago but it seems to be a culprit in some cases a well. You could find it if you search the forums I'm sure.

Had a similar issue... dropping of wifi radio... the workaround when using the ATT wifi manager was to go into the phone's wifi menu and disable power saving... *#0011# select menu... then wifi submenu.
Or.. just freeze or remove the ATT wifi app and use Smart WiFi Toggler from Google Market... works well!

Disable att smart wifi. That works for me.
Definitely a router issue. I use WPA2 PSK with DHCP and I haven't had any issues. I have had problems in the past using WEP with my phones. Once I changed to WPA it was fine. Maybe try that.

Thank you, this worked, I think removing the latest update for AT&T smartwifi did it for me, whatever I now have wifi again.
I'll take a look at Smart Wifi Toggler

[Q] Sprint Connections Optimizer wont stay off?

I usually connect to wifi at work, but it is currently down, so I shut down wifi on the phone.
Of course, connections optimizer turns it right back on since it knows there is a network here. So, I decide to turn off CO, then turn off wifi. And wifi immediately turns back on. Then, when I check CO, it is enabled again.

Do you have root? You can try freezing it with Titanium Backup Pro

Yeah, we had that with one of our reps advocate device, it was a persistent little bastard but he finally got it to stay off. I think he might have thrown a reboot in there somewhere

Not rooted. Wifi is up and running again, so not a big deal. Just something I noticed.

Do you have "Google's location service" enabled under "Location Services"? That setting "Lets apps use data from sources such as Wi-Fi..."
Big tip about connection optimizer. Once you uncheck it do not go back into the connection optimizer setting. Doing so will automatically enable itself. I don't know why sprint does this but it's been like that on my GS2 and now on my Note. Try unchecking it and hitting home. Once you do that manually turn off wifi and see if it stays off.

That shouldn't matter. I always keep those on they don't turn on wifi automatically. It gets location if you're on wifi but if you're not it'll use your network connection instead.

Do not go back into Optimizer again once you turn it off! It's like that on any Sprint device. It will automatically turn itself back on.
If you're rooted, just delete the app. That's what I did

Sprint Connections Optimizer

First off, a thousand apologies if there is already a post or thread regarding my issue. I could not find it.
After using ROM toolbox pro to uninstall sprint connections optimiser my WiFi still turns on pretty frequently by itself. Is there some other app I need to freeze or uninstall to keep this from happening?
I've looked in WiFi settings for an option to disable "notify me when networks are available" but couldn't find that.

You know, I forgot I uninstalled Connections Optimizer and my WiFi still turns on. I have yet to figure out what is causing it. But it is a pain in the arse to constantly turn it off. Let me do some research..
EDIT: Are you on JB or ICS?

I'm on JB.
And I spoke too soon. With WiFi turned on I see an option for network notification. I set it to do not notify me of networks. We will see if that helps.

I was about to post a question regarding this. Good to know I wasn't the only one having this issue. I just got my Optimus G and couldn't figure out why my WiFi would randomly turn on. I changed the network notification setting and will test that out.
Oh btw, I'm running completely stock and not rooted Android 4.1.2
Edit: didn't work... Almost seems like when I get a multimedia message my wifi turns on
Yep seems like when I get a new picture message my wifi turns on... Anyone have this issue?\
Edit: Ok read about how to disable the sprint connection optimizer. unchecked the box and let's see if that helps.
Edit 2: that did it... Thanks!

[Q] disable cellular radio

I'm going to be in a GSM country for a while, and I'm bringing my SIII cuz it's a capable little tablet computer. I wish to disable the cellular radio completely because there aren't going to be any CDMA signals around and it'll kill the battery looking at full power (I'd think).
Is there a way to disable cellular while leaving the wifi antenna up? I imagined it'd be simple, but I'm finding it hard to even search for. Usually people just want to disable the mobile data and leave voice up for sms or whatever.

I would assume he still wants to connect to Wifi.
I haven't heard of any Mods or settings that completely turn off the radio (data and phone/text). I'll keep my eyes open, though.
Turn on Airplane Mode which shuts off everything, then turn on the Wifi by itself. Used it in Europe that way without a problem.

Ah, I didn't know this worked. Back on my old Evo, once airplane mode was on, Wifi couldn't be turned on. It looks like they've improved the airplane mode functionality in the last 2-3 years.

G4 Suspends Wifi Calling in Airplane Mode?

So, after being unable to use T-Mobile inflight texting and Gogo not being able to tell me much about why, I finally tried to see if I could connect to wifi calling at home (where it has and still does work regularly) while in Airplane mode. To my surprise, I couldn't, and the moment I turned Airplane Mode off, wifi calling came right back. Has this been everyone else's experience as well? Any known workarounds?
TIA

Because airplane mode turns off the WiFi radio?

But I can turn wifi back on and use it with airplane mode on. Wifi calling never comes back, and I didn't have this problem with my T-Mobile Note 3.

I can definitely use wifi calling while in airplane mode. Are you getting a REG99 error? or an ER81?
I'm getting the REG99 error indeed. And if I pay for gogo, I can connect and use the WiFi, just can't use the WiFi calling.
Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
Nope, I had the same error while on the plane. I've made three trips recently, and all of them have failed. I hit up the customer service through their website on my phone, and each time, was granted a two hour pass (duration of the flight) to use hangouts instead.
This occurred on different airlines with all three flights.
TMO was not able to figure this out either, since I had them look into this since the first time it failed on me.
Yeah, definitely seems like my phone won't do WiFi calling when airplane mode is on.

There are documented problems with wifi calling and xposed. As I recall, the gist of it is that with xposed installed, Wi-Fi calling works only if lte is available. Without xposed, wifi calling will work with wifi only, as it's expected to.
There's a thread somewhere here about this on the t-mobile section. Basically if you install a deodexed rom, wifi calling works as it's supposed to.
Thanks for the heads up! Guess I won't be wifi texting on flights.
Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
Circling back, flashing a deodexed ROM indeed fixed it. Thanks! [emoji106]
