[Info]Good News Chinese MIUI team work on defy

forgive my English.
Now the defy's MIUI is under alpha test,there's only 23 people can test it right now,but may be this friday,defy'MIUI test will into beta test.as i know,they will use the CM7 Beta 5.1 and make it more stable.
here my known bug list:
1.wcdma sim card may reboot during call,both you call and you answer
2.flash not word during recording
3.shutdown itself when you turn on Flight mode
...and some others little bugs i could not remeber.

Sounds like it's still far from daily use rom. Hopefully, the MIUI team could get it improved as fast as Quarx did on his CM7. Hopefully.

every friday 17:00(gmt +8) there will be an OTA update or a new phone jion MIUI.
the beta test should start at last friday,but there's some bug that had to delay the beta.i hope this friday defy will get her MIUI

This weeks version 2.8.10 (Finally happened!)
Disclaimer: You flash at your own risk of damage to your phone. More of the current kernels have the damaging emmc bug removed and I have safely flashed with ICS kernel but there is always a bit of risk involved. You have been warned.
Steps that I use to flash this ROM:​1. Odin or Mobile Odin [my preference] back to EL26 Stock Kernel
2.(a) If you are flashing from another ROM that is not ICS MIUI use Calkulin's format all (found at bottom of his post). ELSE:
(b) You are flashing over a previous ICS of MIUI (such as 2.7.6) DO NOT WIPE ANYTHING
3. Flash this week version of MIUI (MIUI 2.8.10)
4. Reboot your device and enjoy all that MIUI is!

Now for the disclaimer:
I have no 4G here in Phoenix. I see that 4g turns on for me but alas with no towers in the valley of the sun, no wimax. Thus if 4g is a must you are gonna want to move along. Sorry. I've read posts of it being broken and wish it wasn't but that I can't fix There are many people I see that have Wimax, so it looks hit or miss. But, it does appear to work.
My Themes Don't Work, then do this:​​Included with this version of MIUI is ES File Explorer. You need this to get themes working correctly. SO:
1. Give yourself root permissions by using the app Permissions found in the folder Tools
2. Open ES File Explorer and give it root privileges in settings
3. Go to root then to /data/system
4. Create a folder titled "theme" thus you should have /data/system/theme
Themes will now work. This is a headache, and when I was looking at updater-script I see that it calls /tmp/busybox (not there) to create the folder "theme" but when I got to correct this and call up /system/xbin/busybox it rejects it like an organ transplant gone wrong. So, if anyone more skilled than I (which is many) feel inclined to fix that please do and shoot me a pm!! thanks.
2nd post is for additional files that are optional.
Please read this:​Kernel included is 41g_RC2_5-0718 it is important to know several things. 1. This kernel so far is the only one that allows use of Governors and Schedulers while 2. allows for videos to work but 3. it has no recovery. To solve this load a current kernel from Chris41g's thread (see post two) and flash what you need to in recovery and boot back to MIUI then Odin 41g_RC2_5-0718 and you're good to go. If you don't mess with recovery except to flash a newer build then you're even better off

Update on included kernel
Optional files:
I only recommend Chris41g's kernel and recovery found here. His kernel works extremely well with MIUI. Included with this version of MIUI is RC2_5-0718 (now deemed unsafe because it still includes the bug). There is no recovery with this kernel thus no way to flash anything :angel: So that statement was idiotic. Anyway, this is still the only kernel that does what you need it to with the current build of MIUI. Hopefully when I am able to get through the errors with catlog and have our miui align with latest CM9 all will be well with newer kernels. Until that day happens use the included kernel otherwise you will have no video, wifi, or proper mnt of internal/external memory. Now Chris has removed the version from his sites so I will be adding a link to my backed up copy of it for everyone to use because if you do need to flash anything in recovery grab one of the latest from the link above and use recovery, boot back into miui (remember you wont have wifi, so setup mobile odin ahead of time if you are away from pc) and odin back to the included kernel. I do this as necessary and has been no problem honestly. A bit time consuming but it works.

Hmm...don't know what could be causing that issue for you. Have you tried wiping cache and dalvik again? When I published this port I went from a clean install and also over 2.7.6 both gave no errors. Sorry, stumped on why that may be.

I did a clean install but I didn't try wiping my cache. I'll have to wait for a bit as my phones about to die tho

got that message after trying to flash this twice i turned on my computer and flashed el26 through odin on my laptop just to try and flash thiss again and make sure i didnt do anything wrong and got the same result twice, im sure this is a great build but yeah..... not working at all for me

Mildwild 14 bugs.

Hi, has anyone else had a problem with screen lock/ unlock sounds, can't remember which one was not working, but even when checked in sound settings menu, one did not work. Also, the Superuser app had a problem with the UI, where you could not scroll across the display from one tab to another at the top of the window and sometimes you could not manually select the tab by tapping on it. Gone back to mildwild 5 until an update to 14 that solves all bugs appears. Thanks all!

When my superuser app updated itself all those problems you described were fixed, so try updating
Another bug I found in camera was when you try and change the brightness of the shot it force closes app.
One more is when reading text messages it sometimes flickers white/black.
Apparently he is working on a new rom for us, Can't wait!

No problems here except for the cpu settings when i try to adjust the min or max freq or governor i get a force close. Done a full wipe but still the same, it's been like this for me since version 12.

Unfortunately I'm so satisfied that I've posted too few posts to post in MW forum.
I'm using Redux2 mod from 2012, then moved to Mildwild10, finally to MW14.
Quick settings menu:
- could you add rotation features that's the only feature lacking?
Phone application:
- it seems to be slower to appear when ringing like it were with a low priority
- the bigmouth is not so funny, could you get back a standard face?
Gmail app:
- unread messages are not differentiated, it seems that the bold characters are missing
General:
I'm experiencing some slef reboot, but I'm not able to understand if it's caused by any app or OS.

My experience is that the launcher negatively affects the mod.
Personally I use Holo Launcher instead of Xperia, that was tricky on all version.

Nor do I, never experienced such problems.
After modding with MW 14 and restoring through Titanium Backup, I had to wipe camera data. You can try.
I prefer ICS Camera and Gallery that were used in original Redux and got from the market.
The ICS Camera is more flexible, quick access to setup and less iOS style.
The ICS Gallery is less show, but thumbnails appera more clear on small screens.

Bluetooth A2DP
Hello, I'm using this rom for 3 weeks and it's working properly for me, but recently I've trying to use a new bluetooth car hands free device and it works properly for calls, but whenever I try to use it's A2DP feature to listen my phone's music with my car radio speakers, it doesn't work. My phone's music Player doesn't stream music through bluetooth, it only uses phone's speakers. Does anybody know if there's something that must be done to stream music through bluetooth, or the problem is that this feature is not really working in this rom? Any solution?

Ok let start first boot in recovey mode flash note 4 setting when phone boots up u will need to go to playstore and download titanium backup then when its done dowloading open it up and look for setting 6.0.1 and wipe data then u can going into setting and register ur fingerprint.
Now u can boot up into recovey and flash the n7 setting
Now when phone boots back up u will have to do the same thing go into titanum backup and wipe data for setting 6.0.1 done ....
Now u can not use finger print for lock screen u can if u download c locker free or hi locker from play store

Just flashed the ROM, great work most of the stuff is working, noticed the following things on a quick play through:
- Magnify isn't working
- Glance isnt working
- Blue light filter doesn't work
- Reboot menu is in chinese
- ROM feels sluggish for some reason, not sure if all Note 7 ports are like that, but I could feel the lag on a vanilla install.

Huh? Anybody getting a RED screen on the BroWser? I just finished setting up Fingerprint...and when i open the browser...the whole phone turns RED.

- Google now on tap also not working on long home press
- dialer and messaging app lags
- significant lag when pressing the 3 dot vertical menus in any app
Great work but rom feels really sluggish I am going to ba k to your wonderful rom note4uxedge

:good: BTW...if you try the Fingerprint Workaround...Letting you know in advance...you'll be on the green Storage is updating screen for about 5 minutes (after you flash the Note 7 settings back)...(the first time I was impatient and wiped)

When posting your issues, please state what software version you're on (current one is 2ZSL5), and if you did a dirty flash, restored data, or did a complete clean install.
I know this isn't an official channel to report to Samsung, but bugs discussed here can be forwarded to Samsung in the beta app.

Been running the beta (ZSK3) for less than 24 hours. I did officially register, and started to download the OTA through device settings, but it requires WiFi. I was at a hotel and the WiFi there was achingly slow, so I went to firmware.science so I could just download the OTA with LTE, then manually flashed it through recovery.
I performed a clean install. Factory data reset, flash OTA, then another factory data reset. Then I set it up from scratch. I didn't restore anything.
Here is my experience so far:
Pros:
1. Dark Mode - I love the native system-wide dark mode.
2. Space below keyboard - I use gestures and GBoard, and I like how now even third party keyboards are pushed up a bit, and you have the keyboard switcher and close keyboard buttons.*
3. Charge Status Toggle - Ability to turn off the charge status. (Thank you Samsung!)
4. Fingerprint Icon Toggle - Ability to turn the fingerprint reader icon on or off.*
5. Improved Biometrics - Fingerprint reader seems to work MUCH better now. Even with the last few updates on Pie, my FP reader was almost worthless. Now it's nearly flawless.
Cons/bugs:
1. Brightness Slider - No longer able to display brightness control on top in the notification shade. I use the brightness slider a lot, and it's frustrating having to fully expand the notification shade when I want to adjust it.
2. Gestures - The new gestures aren't very intuitive. I prefer the gestures from Pie. I know I can still use those, but I'm really trying to get used to this style, since it's what Google will push everyone toward anyway. This system of gestures is Google fault not Samsung's.
3. Home screen Jank - I occasionally get issues with the home screen freezing. Seems to be when I'm having issues with the gestures, particularly getting Google Assistant to activate via swipe.
4. Syncing issues - There's several Samsung apps/services that will not sync. Samsung Pass, Samsung Internet. Samsung Contacts, and a few others. Under Samsung account settings, when trying to sync them, they say "syncing" then change to "Couldn't sync." This occurs in WiFi and cellular.
5. Disney+ - Not compatible from the Play Store. I was able to install it, log in, and watch movies with a work around, so I know it works. Not sure if this is Disney's problem, or Samsung's. I know it works on other devices running Android 10, so who knows.
6. Netflix - this could've been my issue. I was in the Netflix beta program, and Netflix installed, but kept telling me to update, then telling me it wasn't compatible. I had to leave the beta, and sideload an older version from apkmirror. Working fine now.
7. WiFi issues - It connects to WiFi just fine, but some apps wouldn't load or allow me to sign in while on WiFi. See below.
8.. VUDU - It would initially force close. I deleted and sideloaded an older version that would freeze on the load screen. Updated that version through the Play Store and it wouldn't force close, but would freeze. I was on WiFi and when I turned it off VUDU loaded. (WiFi was pulling 250 Mbps down, so it wasn't the issue).
9. Hulu - When I tried to log in, it kept saying couldn't reach server. Again, was on WiFi in a restaurant pulling 250 Mbps down. But once I shut off WiFi, it signed right in.
10. Full Immersive Mode - This option is still missing in Samsung Internet and most video apps. It works just fine in YouTube and Disney+. We should have the option of using full Immersive Mode at least in the internet browser. As far as movies, make the rounded corners on the black bar less rounded.

Disney+ app workaround. See below.

You actually can put it back on top, you just need to set this.
Just press the 3 dots when pulling the dropdown menu, then select the quick layout panel

Yes no issues with that, but i cannot remember if i installed the apps before i upgraded...

One of the only real issues I'm having is with the new gestures, mainly the recent apps gesture. When using it straight from the home screen it works like 50/50 for me and sometimes causes OneUI Home to crash but using it when you have an app open it seems to work much better.
Edit: (2ZSK3 obviously). I got the OTA through the beta registration and had some issues because I had #hex installed so I did a factory reset. I did however restore everything from Samsung Cloud afterwards.

It still shows as incompatible in the Play Store for me. Go to the Play Store and look for Disney+. Below the unsintall/open buttons, tell me if you see a message in red lettering that the app is now incompatible with your device.

Yes, the recents gesture from home screen is very wonky. I had some home crashes too when I first installed and set everything up, and I actually wound up doing another factory reset to get rid of them.

I have been running the U1 firmware on my Verizon Note 10+ since the day it launched. It retains wifi calling, volte calling, and visual voicemail. The only thing missing that I've found so far is native video calling in the phone app but that wasn't a big deal to me as I never use it anyways.

Do you mind sharing how you were able to get Disney+ installed and working?

Also found doing factory reset after installing this that whatsapp would no longer verify my number.

So today I sent several feedback reports to Samsung through the OneUI beta app. Please keep the feedback coming. In my experience with past betas, Samsung really does listen to our feedback when it's directed through the proper channels.

Besides the new animations I don't see anything really worth writing home about. It's beta so there's quite a bit of bugs. Android auto on my android 10.25 screen exhibit a buzz and audio moving from car to phone sporadically. The new gesture navigation is not as easy to use. I much prefer using Pie control (which is not 100% compatible now) for launching home, recent, and back. One handed operation to swipe diagonally up to shrink the screen. Diagonally down to bring top of the screen down. I've also seen more battery drain and on screen fingerprint isn't as accurate anymore. Beta 2 is supposed those 2 things. The one UI lock up is also being addressed.
I'm hoping beta 2 will soon be releases for US unlocked. Otherwise, I think I will switch back but dreading that as it will factory reset my device.

Beta 2 was released this morning finally. I agree this is one of the buggiest betas I've tried in the last few years. I'm the opposite of you with the fingerprint reader though. It was almost useless on Android 9. On this beta it's much faster and more accurate. Works nearly 100% of the time for me. Although it seems more sensitive to the screen being dirty.

My lack of patience and frustration with beta 1 got to me and downgraded to 9 over the weekend. However I did not deregistered for the beta just in case I want to try future betas. The one most frustrating for me was audio output going from car to phone and vice versa when using android auto. I did report it so maybe it will get addressed in beta 3.

You can also restore apps in Smart Switch if you had backed it up on Pie.
