Downgrade from Lollipop to kitkat? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to downgrade? I read somewhere that just flashing the firmware won't work. Has anyone done it?

I've done it. I reverted from IronRom lollipop to Ironrom KitKat with no issues. No need for odin as the lollipop bootloader can run KitKat fine.
Just find a custom roms for KitKat and flash it through twrp

You're so helpful, sometimes too helpful
Honestly I get fed up with it.
May as well just remove the search button from the forum.

Note 10.1 v2 and knox

I'm looking to buy a 2014 10.1 and something caught my attention and was curious about it. I have a s4 running 4.3 android and thanks to Knox I cant put a custom recovery on it and have to use safestrap to use a custom rom essential wasting much space. Is that a issue with the tablet as well. Or is twrp/clockwork able to be used?

So custom roms are a no go for this thing? Help me understand. I mean I see the threads with rom but is it like the s4....only 4.3 tw roms will work. A lot of questions I know of but $500 on the line. Lol thanks in advance

Of course you can flash a custom recovery and custom roms, but it cant be done without triggering knox. Flashing the rom itself is harmless, its the flashing of a custom recovery that triggers knox. So if you can live with that just go a head and flash, if not.... then dont.
Good luck
Ok thanks for the clarification the knox part is still kind of new to me. Tw is a little heavy just wanted to make sure I had the option to run an aosp rom down the line.

no problem, just glad to help. You can flash an AOSP rom, as soon as we get one.

How do i upgrade to the new 4.4 bootloader from 4.3?

I need to know what the difference is between 4.3 and 4.4. How do i upgrade to it? Do i need to do it to run kitkat roms?
I have flashed about 4 kitkat roms and they all have issues. Like freezing and rebooting. I think maybe because i am on the 4.3 bootloader.
I just dont fully understand this stuff yet.

So i found this post but i still dont fully understand it. So if i flash a kitkat rom and a new kernel does that automatically upgrade my bootloader to 4.4? Currently out of all the kitkat kernels only 2 of them will boot my phone all others i just get stuck on the samsung logo. Including the stock kernel.

Please search the Development thread. TEKHD had made a very easy step-by-step guide on how to upgrade.

Tw 4.4 bootloader?

I'm trying to flash a 4.4 tw ROM (wicked v1) and I get stuck in a bootloop.... Is there a flashable zip I can download so the ROM will boot
Here, you will need to odin to 4.4 stock (upgrade bootloader), then flash it. Follow this guide. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2672393

My apologies if this is off topic, it is still within the bootloader question.
How do I check what bootloader I am using in my phone?

It's all up to you. Ask yourself this. Do you want the KitKat features? Or do you want to stay in JB with almost the same amount of features. I upgraded myself just because I don't want to do it later, if newer roms come out

[Q] Android Lollipop

Hey, so Im building a rom, but I took my code from my tablet and it is running KitKat (4.4.2 I think) and I want to build a rom running Lollipop, is this possible? Thanks in advance
Cheers! - Ket
Yes you can normally port a ROM from another Samsung tablet that has lollipop. It won't be easy though. You will have to make a few modifications to get it to boot correctly.
I think if you look up Porting a ROM on XDA you will find the information you need to get started.

You can port the ROM first, then customize it. Or you can build a ROM straight from AOSP source.

Thanks i did and i am running 5.o.1 lollipop stock. Everything is running smooth EXCEPT signal which very low, lower than before. The switching between 2 and 3g is terrible. Do i need to flash a baseband? If so where can i get for f240l?
Sent from my LG-F240L using XDA Free mobile app
Good Amigo, Im sure you can find what you are looking for somewhere on the LG forums, just type it in. I could not truthfully answer your question.
L signal was very weak. So i flash to f240k20d and the signal is very good. I received an ota update of 16.xmb. Which took me to f240k30e. Everything is working smothly
