Hi,
I have rooted the firmware for Indian Z1.
You can download it here and flash it with odin: http : // we.tl / 7LpO0xQgSZ
When flashed, your phone will not be wiped. Just execute: sdb root on
And you are root enabled.
Greetings from Feeyo.

Interesting.
If my Download finished... I will check if you find other way... or also su Binary from RTL Firmware...
It sounds interesting... because yours seems latest Firmware...
My old ANL7
Best Regards
Downloaded... not fully tested... BUT...
su Binary is not same... like here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59048890&postcount=73
I have posted rooted and working solution few months ago...

Nobody tested...
I wish you more luck.

Hmm, I did not know you already had rooted the old firmware Good job. Looking at your posts is a little bit confusing though.
Anyhow, I can inject/enable root on any firmware. It is pretty easy. Takes like 1 minute to do so. If anyone needs a specific firmware to be rooted let me know.
I am currently searching for a way to flash our own kernel on the Z1. If you have found a way to extract the boot image, or know where to find the tool mkdzimage tool, I would love to hear it. As I can then create a dzimage as a cutom kernel.
Thanks!
About Kernel...
You have downloaded Source Code from here:
http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=Z130
Is long time ago and I have only short tested, but I thought it is same like Android stuff I9000 and so on...
So unpack worked...
Need to check my posts again...
Best Regards
Edit 1.
Found what I have tried with Kernel...
dzImage can be unpacked as TAR file... if you cut the first 18699 Bytes... you can see text string uncompression error before + 1 ZERO Byte...
So 5 MB compressed Kernel is 10 MB uncompressed...

I can extract the kernel, that is not the issue. I need to find a way to repack it and create a dzimage to able to flash it with odin.

If no Tool nor script available... maybe do it manually...
I have no idea if something is signed at end of file... but before TAR file start... the header looks not impossible (to me) to correct with filesize etc...
If you compare 2 different dzImage ...
TAR start at offset 0x490B
I can't see differences bigger 2 Bytes...

2. mkdzimage: which actually binds the image created by dtbtool with the zImage and builds a 'dzImage' to make the tar with it.
These two binaries are in the open source package, but are compiled for the ARM platform. So, you have to build the kernel, and then chroot into the development environment, and run them through QEMU to finish the job. This is the sickest thing I've seen in a long time.

Anyway.
I have not tested your rooted Firmware, because I have some little problems and I am toooo lazy to fix them...
I am scared to loose some "gadgets" as in higher Firmware more Know and Restrictions are activated...
Maybe meanwhile someone else tested your Firmware and can confirm success?
I need someone, who has an idea... Where or how to insert Developer Certificate to get rid of this f. Cert Bulls... to install SDK Examples or to share few TPKs...
If I remember correct... RD-PQ etc. not need register new Cert to install SDK samples...
No idea yet, if this joke is again on TM1 (SM-Z300H developer device)...

You insert the certificates in the Tizen IDE. The IDE then uses the certificate to build the package, and you can install the package on your Z1.
Someone tested your ROOT Firmware?
I am too lazy.
1 reason is my own method work also with BOH1...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62334048&postcount=152
"Simple steps"
- su 30 KB injected into rootfs.img
su Binary was leaked by R.L ANL7 Firmware...
Same su work with BOH1... only short tested, but SDB ROOT ON work...
For now I can't see sideeffects...
Someone asked for Firmware from Bangladesh... but I am too lazy to do this for every Firmware and upload and nobody try nor feedback...
If someone PM me...
Maybe then I could upload compressed BOH1 Firmware 370 MB... with su inside rootfs.img...
Best Regards
I am running my own rooted firmware. And it works perfectly.

I´m definetely interested in trying it out, but i´m not a experienced linux person.
I mean, i know what i would like to do as root, like removing unwanted apps.
Tinkering around would be great (but i´m a little scared, cause it is my daily driver), but is there a solution to make a "non-cloud" local backup/dump
of the current system to recover it later, if something went wrong, perhaps similar to nandroid on CWM?
And does TIzen contain iptables?
Thanks!

You could create a dump of the partition as root with dd command to make a backup.
And yes iptables v1.4.21 is installed.

I have that tool, but its crap to use. As it needs other versions of libraries and libc. I will need to create some virtual arm based image on my machine to just compile the kernel and use that mkdzimage..
And currently I do not have time for it.

Okay people, its done!
This is the procedure and firmware package for a single-step flash to DXJPA using Odin:
http://touristinparadise.blogspot.com/2010/11/samsung-galaxy-s-how-to-install-froyo.html
If you flash using that procedure, you should get a 'stock' DXJPA phone will all DX-series CSCs. Unfortunately, it *will* do a factory reset / wipe data.
DXJPA is the official Froyo for the Southeast Asian region: Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines.
DXJPA is tricky because it really needs PIT 513 (it's the only ROM, as far as I know), probably because the /system partition size needs to be very big for the carrier customizations.
I've basically combined the missing parts from DXJPA with the files from the original DXJG4 and used the correct PIT.
Bro, thanks. now downloading from multiupload site. going to try flashing directly through odin1.7 with pit513 directly and will report back to see if successful or not.
btw, time to change your signature?
p/s: is it okay to use your k7 kernel on this rom?
edit: looking at the downloaded file from Richtofen, the modem.bin is missing. hmm....
edit2: after reviewing, i am using your package to flash.
No bro, you should use my download link. All the other packages have the wrong dbdata and the CSC wont work properly - unless u do the 2 step from DXJG4 to DXJPA.
Hey bro. Did you find any significant changes between this ROM compare to ADJP5 like does it work better with your kernel? Just curious.
Thanks!

ADJP5 is from another region. The DX series is for Southeast Asia. And yup, it works with my kernel too - all Froyo ROMs work.

yeah, i notice a huge difference in the dbdata.rfs as well as the cache.rfs. The cache.rfs should be containing all the bloatware apps i presume.
now flashing, almost done now.
give me sometime, and i will do the batterymod if anyone is interested.
Someone needs to work on customizing this ROM so we can save more space.
hmm, seems to get stuck at bootup screen, but no black screen yet. will wait a bit longer, and get into recovery to wipe cache, do a factory reset.
edit: just booted up. haha...

Yeah, but I prefer keep XWJS5 with JPU modem and speedmod-kernel-13c, which work like a charm and surely is "newer" and better than RSJS2 IMHO

It's not a good idea to mess with bootloaders, especially boot.bin
If boot.bin is corrupter/flash fails you have a completely bricked phone, not even a jig will save it.
sbl.bin is less risky, since if you have an intact primary bootloader (boot.bin) you can jig your way out. I think you should remove boot.bin from your package, since only the sbl.bin from JV1 is needed for to work anyway

... moreover mangling with a different GSM_NATION_CODE (XW vs. RS)
If you actually want flash with PIT (512) and Re-partition, it would much better to build a 4-file CODE.tar only (ok for your empty dbdata.rfs), without boot & sbl binaries.
Going to preface this with the fact that I'm relatively new to the dev scene. I'm still learning, but we all learn by doing right?

Not entirely positive these are done perfectly (especially the .zip) but I think that may creatable from my dd image anyways. I'd appreciate someone with dev experience looking over these and okaying them, and maybe regular users staying away from trying to do anything with these until someone more experienced says they're alright?
I just figured that seeing I uploaded these for 2 people I may as well make them publically available for all.
I'm also including the steps I took inside code tags for anyone to point out any mistakes I may have made.

This is a not firmware. Dont flash.
I had the same week before ... i also flashed chainfire root and phone reboot itself.
Even a friend in samsung tried to restore but nothing.
You have to wait for original firmware.
Nice!
Cant wait for Omega rom for 9505, as I will get mine tomorrow.
I used 0626 build and with this new firmware and problem is gone.
You could try the new firmware:
https://github.com/TI-OpenLink/ti-utils/tree/ol_R5.SP5.01/hw/firmware
download these files
wl127x-fw-4-mr.bin
wl127x-fw-4-plt.bin
wl127x-fw-4-sr.bin
And put it to /system/etc/firmware/ti-connectivity, replace old one, fix the properties.
Go to /system/bin/, rename wifical.sh_disabled to wifical.sh.
Reboot your defy.

I will test this in a while. Did you try this while being far away from your router?
In case anyone does in fact see this, this actually does work, so it does seem to have been a firmware problem after all. I tested with the farthest router I have, like I usually do, and the jamming is gone. Tested with the latest CM10.1 build by following the instructions @sunnyqeen gave in the OP, so I'm pretty sure it would work in any build that uses the new wifi drivers.
In case it helps anyone else, I'm attaching the files also.
@Quarx: Maybe, if these files prove to not cause any other problems, you could merge these with your builds.
Edit: Tested with 3 more builds last night, works with all of them. Don't see why it wouldn't have, but it's nice to confirm things.

Installed the files and tested away from the router like @Antiga Prime. It works! No jamming at all! @Quarx, please update the WiFi firmware with these files, they work!
Great Thanks. I will update wifi firmwares now.

I tried to copy to files to /system/etc/firmware/ti-connectivity using File Manager. My File Manager is rooted and I have change the permission of directory /system/etc/firmware/ti-connectivity to "777". The files are still denied being copied into the directory. Can anyone assist on this?
Actually I rename directory "ti-connectivity" to "ti-connectivity.backup" and created a new directory "ti-connectivity" with a+rwx permission.

You could have done a nandroid instead of creating a new folder. Don't change permissions of the folder. Make sure in your file manager you enable root priviledges.

I cloned the current repo for all common linux firmwares and found the size of the ti-wl127x different from the ones posted here.
Code:
git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git
-rw-r--r--+ 1 jarod jarod 260852 Jun 29 22:22 wl127x-fw-4-mr.bin
-rw-r--r--+ 1 jarod jarod 261892 Jun 29 22:22 wl127x-fw-4-plt.bin
-rw-r--r--+ 1 jarod jarod 276684 Jun 29 22:22 wl127x-fw-4-sr.bin
Which ones should be used?
I have not tried the files yet, but may find time today.
The git log for the files reads as follows:
commit f268e39204577a50cdaa62547278a4d069746d51
Author: Luciano Coelho <[email protected]>
Date: Fri Feb 17 15:55:56 2012 +0200
linux-firmware: ti-connectivity: update wl12xx firmwares
The latest wl12xx driver version now requires a new firmware type with
a different ABI. This patch adds the corresponding 6 firmware
binaries. Three for wl127x and three for wl128x. Each set contains
one firmware for single-role, one firmware for multi-role and one
firmware for production testing and calibration.

Well, it seems that you got the files from the Linux kernel repo. The files mentioned in this thread were taken from the OpenTI project, while I have no idea where Quarx got the files that were in the ROM originally.

Looking for info on those files lead me to this page: http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/wl127x-fw . Interesting info for the driver itself, also they have patches for various kernels for the driver to operate properly.

I did a quick test with bot sets of firmware. The one from the linux kernel repo did not work. Although my WLAN was listed, my Defy could not connect.
The firmware set posted here worked flawlessly. While my phone was connected to the AP, I could still copy files from the laptop to the server with around 5.5MB/sec.
Thanks a lot sunnyqeen.

A whole nandroid for three files? A waste of time in my opinion. What I did was just rename the three original files to *.old and then copy the new ones, and fix permissions and ownership.

If I were you I'd change the permissions so that they are exactly the same as the original folder, e.g.: 0755. Files should have a permission of 0644. Both owner/group for folder/files should be root.
If you can create a new folder and not copy the files, I'd say use a different file manager. I use Root Explorer and never have any issues whatsoever.
Slimbean cm10
Hi
I can not find the folder ti-connectivity. I use slim bean CM10. Is there any other folder i could place these files?
Thanks
I need to ask. What is this "wifi jam issue"? It's the problem where you connect and after a few seconds/minutes, it disconnects every device that was connected to the router, so you have to reboot manually the router so it can work again?
