CM12.1 is here for the LS980, aka the Sprint LG G2.
This is a source build rom, which includes all the latest changes from cm. The nightlies are starting August 2nd.
Instructions
Official support is now limited to ZVE and ZVG basebands. CM-12.1 is based on a completely new kernel. This has enabled support for the latest basebands newer than ZV8.
While many people and devices are in various states we officially recommend flashing back to stock then fully updating your device before using cm-12.1.
If you are coming straight from cm-12.0 the rom will not boot.
Download cm-12.1, and gapps. Put them on your sdcard, reboot to recovery. Flash, and enjoy!
The latest will be available at:
http://get.cm/?device=ls980

sweet, been waiting for this! but-- latest nightly is from 7/26, and is only version 12, not 12.1, and no google apps? seems a bit preemptive to me
Downloaded and installed nightly from 08-04. Flashed over stock rooted ZVG then a full wipe.
good:
GPS seems to be much more responsive with cm12.1.
bad:
camera app wont open, downloaded google camera and others from the play store, nothing works.
no flashlight shortcut in quick settings panel, when i try to turn on via "OK google" causes force close. this is a really useful tool for me and its bumming me out its not included here, or in stock ZVG
Shiny, may be able to abandon the official firmware (again) a bit later when things are a bit more stable.
Anyone have any reports on if the screen double tap to wake works?
Can't wait to flash this. Been having issues updating past 5/17 on CM12.
After fighting with ZVG to get root it's all working. 7-17 Gapps was giving me issues though. Downgraded to 4-21.

Double tap didn't work on older versions, but you can tap 5 times to wake in the version I'm using (I don't know why it's 5... but that has worked reliably for me)

If you tot to any version of kit kat the phone will update to lollipop. Paste this address into your browser for root tool. http://sourceforge.net/projects/avicohh/files/Android/LG_One_Click_Root_by_avicohh.exe/download. Sorry, don't know how to put link in post as of yet. Autorec file is specific to sprint. File name is something like omg so good version. Autorec will take care of everything else for you. Then just flash 12.1 and gapps normally.
What gapps version are you guys using with 12.1? Initially I flashed 7-17 but ran into issues with the Play Store being unable to download/install any apps. I flashed 4-21 and now I get occasional, seemingly random vibrations, sometimes up to 30 seconds long. Doesn't seem to interfere with operation though.

Ok so just installed latest nightly (9/2) and knock-on not working. This was working in previous nightly I tried. Also, no superuser? or no root?
Hey guys, iv been trying for the past couple of hours for cm12.1 to work with 5.1 gapps, but google pay services always crash non stop, iv tried several different gapps and they all crash.

What tool do you use to tot to kitkat? The LG Flash Tool will not recognize device model anymore after you flash CM12.1 nightly.

Ah, crap. I forgot to test video, I just tried taking regular photos. But to answer your question, no, it doesn't. I should really just bundle Open Camera with this...
This is an improvement over other builds though, since the camera on those didn't function at all.

Flashed this rom and running smoothly but camera is same as all lollipop roms it is taking photos from main camera but frozen in front camera mode thereafter not connecting tried clearing data, restarting mobile etc only disabled by tibu and installed open camera
It is not a complaint but just information as we all know that development of lollipop Rom is still in preliminary stage for our devices
Thanks OP for this Rom [emoji106]
I've also found another bug: you'll need to rerun setup if you turn WiFi off. DO NOT TURN WIFI OFF. I'm looking into a fix for this, as this is kind of a bad issue.
FIXED. See post below.
A new build will be released later today that will *hopefully* resolve some of the bugs above with the wifi and whatnot.
New build availiable. This release fixes the WiFi issue, as well as a few other minor bugs.

Nope. Lag-free. I haven't crashed at all, and actually, this is 10x more stable and smooth than the official CM 11 nightlies from my own experience. With ART and other performance improvements in Lollipop, this is an extremely beneficial update for the GS3.

Since they share a similar kernel structure, you should, but I do not recommend it. I can build a d2att version if you guys are interested?

Hmm, that's strange. I haven't experienced this issue. If you could, use logcat and send me your logs, and I'll see if I can find anything. I'll be releasing another build sometime this week, so maybe it will be fixed then. Logcat instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1726238

Newbie help
Since you're doing a build from unchanged stuff I was wondering if you had any hints about how I can locate a couple missing files.
In running ./extract-files.sh I find almost all but the first file in the #DRM section of /android/system/device/samsung/d2-common/proprietary-files.txt are not on my phone. I had to comment out those lines to finish the extract, obviously this means DRM is broken on my machine (meh), but any idea where I could get those files or if I should really care?

TheMuppets github has all those files after running extract files. On their github look for /vendor/samsung and place that sanding folder in your *root build finder*/ vendor folder. Hope this helps.
Is there a recommended Kernel and radio? I've been out of the modding world for quite some time and haven't kept up.
Whew. I've really been away a long time. Move along, nothing to see here.

New build is up guys! Use the first "download" link in OP to get it.. ill be uploading on the second link too, in a minute!!
Changes - Check Euphoria's gerrit.
Sync was done like 7 hours back!
Used a new toolchain. UBER TOOLCHAIN 4.8 for ROM and 4.9 for kernel!
Everything is frikking smoother and faster now.
SELinux is set to permissive. I like it that way.
I am still looking to implement LVM. Might take time. I am a NOOB
I've tried both beta's and they both run extremely smooth. Only problem I've had with both is when someone sends me a text I get unfortunately messenger has stopped on both beta's. I've tried clean installs on both coming from nameless then tried clean install coming from cyanogen 12. Tried cleaning data and cache from messenger app but nothing has worked. Everything else has worked but receiving texts. Correct APN was verified so I'm at a loss.

I've seen where people were having same issues with cyanogen 12.1 as well so might be an underlying issue there. Wish they could get it resolved for what time I've played with this ROM I'd love to give it more time as a daily driver but I need to be able to receive texts. Other then this issue the work looks very good and promising.

Everything actually works at first boot. ROM backups my apps through cloud. But after restarting, WiFi breaks and am unable to fix the issue until I do another clean install. Only happens on 5.1, can't replicate it on 5.0.2.
EDIT: Scratch that, I actually flashed 2.48 :banghead: Wonder what the issue is.

Official builds have been bumped up to cm-13.0. A cm-12.1 snapshot is available on get.cm.
thanks much. going to wait for the august patches to get merged in before moving over from your previous unofficial build.
error (failed) flashing cm13
My Nexus (maguro) was bricked (my own fault).
I put back the original android 4.3 with fastboot. That went well. Now I want to put it cm13. It fails. Flashing with recovery ter 8.7.0 failed, also "fastboot -w update ....zip" went wrong "cannot load ...zip". Nexus is rooted.
Then I tried to flash a different zip namely Euphoria 5.1 for maguro. I used to flash the recovery. That went okay. But I prefer CyanogenMod.
So now I real want to flash the latest cm13, but I can not. I get a failed.
Also fastboot -w update "cm13....zip" does not work.
What am I doing wrong?

Yes, that is for maguro. This is the toro thread, though. The maguro thread is here.
My first guess is that your recovery is too old to flash cm13.0 Try this build of TWRP.

I am having occasional WiFi drops. Always happens with screen off. Wake up the screen and WiFi is off and no data. I read recently of a similar problem on the Galaxy Note Pro forum and some believe it to be a CM glitch.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=68754215
Anybody else having this problem?
My wifi does drop very frequently, even during use. In-fact I really only notice it while using the phone. Interestingly for me, I don't think it's a ROM specific issue but can't really confirm it. Even more odd is that I NEVER drop when connected to an iPhone hot spot, it's only when connecting to actual wifi routers. I thought it might be band based but I struggle with both 2.4 and 5ghz. I just kind of have learned to live with it at this point; spent way too many hours trying to resolve.
Everytime I attempt to flash this with the nano gapps, I get an error 70 stating that there is not enough available space on the system partition. I have wiped system with each flash and wiped dalvik/cache between rom and Gapps. Is there a workaround for this or am I doing something wrong? Its been quite a while since I've flashed anything to this phone, so I'm a bit rusty.
Thanks!

Things keep growing and nano gapps no longer fit either. You need to use the pico gapps. I corrected the instructions in the OP.
Thank you.
If any users on Page Plus (and maybe Straight Talk) have lost mobile data, here is a flashable zip that should fix it. Do not flash this if you're on Verizon, and do not flash it if your data is currently working. This fix should work on pretty much any ROM KitKat or newer.
Page Plus has made some changes to their APNs and it breaks data for us. Stock ROMs should be able to load the updated settings themselves, but that doesn't seem to work for this ROM. It's a minor change really; the APN needs to change from VZWINTERNET to TRACFONE.VZWENTP for data to work.

Thanks!

There is a note on the very first page of this thread (and in the CM wiki) that the NANO GApps (especially the Open sort) may well be too big - heed it! I used the pico Open GApps without trouble on my own GNex (inherited from my mom as she moved to a Galaxy J3; I'm taking the GNex to Tracfone once I get a SIM kit - replacing an existing Tracfone feature phone). In a word - smirk, smirk, smirk....
will there be no further development on this in 2017?

I think it was the latest version when I built this rom
Anyone try this, or any AOSP rom, using a ls980 on Ting or Ringplus? I could never get data on anything but stock. Many AOSP roms and Sprint service worked just fine on my ls980.

I flashed this, and have no data. I do have calls, haven't checked texts.
I've tried a few apn-conf.xml swaps to no avail either.
What gives? Is it really impossible for AOSP on our ls980 for anything but Sprint?

I live in a European country(using gsm/wcdma),so I have no idea about cdma network on this rom, I have just compiled this from the latest cm13 sources.
Working CDMA EVDO on your LS980 you may has only in cyanogenmod13, i.e. non-slim rom (bliss, crdroid, pa, aicp etc.) Only 1 rom that I've seen with working data is rom from here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?a=show&w=files&flid=51135 (by mrlika). I've using this rom, and all seems fine. This rom is unofficial, it has also theming, you can install it through latest "bumped" TWRP by blastagator from here http://www.gregtwallace.com/lgg2-projects/twrp/
But I've didn't test this rom for EVDO data yet. I've try it just after 3-4 days, when I've back to my home country (I've using gsm for now).
crDroid seems to work well on ringplus, if you set the ringplus APN as defulat

I actually tried that and it didn't work for me. The one thing I have yet to try is using Blastigator's twrp, so I guess I have one more thing to try out.
Edit: Blastigator's recovery did not fix the problem.

The Rom from Mrlika actually does work with data to some extent, but I only managed to get 3g after setting it as the preferred network. That does seem to hint that maybe there is a solution to this whole issue I've been having. I'm just gonna keep trying.

Did u try the AOSP Patch? http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...t/flashable-lte-fix-moto-e-6-x-boost-t3290719
I gave it a quick test and it seems to not work properly (even showing wrong provider) but I may have flashed it at the wrong time. I'm just tired of flashing constantly for days and am just using ultrapop because it actually works. It's not going to run everything as buttery smooth as marshmallow, but it comes close enough and doesn't come with all the hassle. Pokemon go seems smooth (unlike stock) but YouTube still has the slight judder here and there on 60 fps videos. I think for that small issue and the fact that I have to use pdanet instead of native wifi tethering is OK for a compromise. I don't want to get a new phone and this seems to be working fine for now. My recommendation, flash ultrapop and skip all the trouble I went through. If you figured something out yourself, tell me about it and maybe then I may try again.
i just install cm13. i flash the rom and the gapps together.
after i reboot, everything seems fine, except it did not ask me to setup google account.
went into setting -> accounts, no option to add google account.
try to goto recovery, got recovery boot certification error.
try to go to download mode, its stuck at the download mode logo, not download mode itself.
so now, i am stuck.
help. what can i do now?

this works and is pretty nice.
only issue is the camera crashes giving a "unknown error, closing camera" message when trying to take a picture. works for video.
no FM radio driver.
But on the plus side I was having GPS issues with stock ZVI and ultrapop. I thought I'd try a different rom to see if it was a software not hardware issue. With this rom I get GPS lock in ~10sec, definitely better than I ever have had on any stock based roms.
so only real issue is camera no worky for pictures.
also using Lamda kernel
update: seems to be a problem saving the picture. tried other apps and they seem to work fine until taking a picture then the app menu freezes...camera part of the app still shows live camera and doesn't give the error message. also tried legacy and aicp roms both camera's work (snap, same version as this rom) but neither of those can I get mobile data to work so back to this rom.

Thank you for your report !
Does not work for me, the screen goes black after installing from TWRP and rebooting, exactly the same as I reported here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-g2/development/rom-lineageos-14-1-quicksilver-t3608561. I reverted back to cm-12.1-20161016-NIGHTLY-ls980.zip, which works fine. Does it have anything to do with the ls980 Japanese display kernel modules? It's been years since I had to screw with that.
The device has been added to official sources. I will update on a weekly.
Good work.
Thank alot for update. But camera is not working:crying:

The TWRP version should be up to date. You should not use 2.8.x versions. Use version 3.x.
camera doesn't work, this has been fix in other roms for awhile now, like the first version of this rom. also couldn't get LTE working as I could with the first version.
Camera error
Many thanks for the ROM is great And that someone keeps alive the ls980 is even more great
