Strange Sim Card Unlock Issue - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Hello,
I have a Xperia S I bought back in 2012. I have rooted it and also unrooted it several times since I have the phone, I have also installed CWM.
At this moment, the phone is rooted, with 6.2.b.1.96, with CWM 6.0.30, even though I don't think this is related to my problem, as I have installed different firmwares, rooted and unrooted. The bootloader is locked, and cannot be unlocked, and the phone is Sim Card locked (I can only use with one carrier).
I also have the Code to unlock the phone, and I know the code is correct, because in my country the carrier must send you the code for free if you want it.
The problem I am having is that the phone won't let me put the unlock code (although the phone is Sim locked, and I still have 5 attempts to unlock it).
I have looked on the internet, and the process is as simple as puting a Sim Card of another carrier, and the phone will ask for the code BUT in my case, nothing happens, and I can't get any signal.

Help! Entering TMO USA TP2 SIM Unlock code, where do I enter it?

Guys I'm over in Europe and attempting to use a vodaphone SIM, I'm running NRG's ROM and radio 4.49.25.17.
T-Mobile had kindly provided the SIM unlock code for my TP2 prior to my trip but when I put in the Vodaphone SIM it doesn't prompt me for an unlock code?
Do I need to manually enter it somewhere?
I think its supposed to prompt you with a screen asking for the code, make sure the Vodafone sim is properly inserted and if that doesn't work you can try looking up the phones engineering mode.
Is the device booting into Windows Mobile & usable with the other SIM card installed? Where did you buy it? Sounds like it may be unlocked already. Anytime I put the wrong SIM in a locked device, on boot up I would get a message for the unlock code & device was unusable, would not progress past this screen. You had to either enter the unlock code or reset & remove the SIM card.
First, check if your device is unlocked by going to Start>Settings>System>Device Info and on one of the tabs, it should say unlocked somewhere. Or, you can check it by downloading ATCommander onto your device and entering [email protected]?40 into ATCommander. It should return 0 if you're unlocked. If it returns 1, you're SIM locked.
Now, if you are still locked, try flashing the Stock Tmobile USA ROM, and insert the Vodafone SIM then. Hopefully, a dialog should come up with an area to enter you unlock code. On the Kaiser, you supposedly had to be running the stock AT&T ROM in order to get the dialog unlock the device with an unlock code. Hopefully that will work. If not, TMobile tech support could probably answer this. Hope that helps

[Q] confirm if phone is carrier unlocked

I just received my nitro and I'd like to know if it is carrier unlocked. I popped in my orange sim card and booted up the phone. I wasn't asked to enter a code however. I'm still in the states, should I confirm with a tmobile sim card or is it safe to say my phone is unlocked? Thanks.
If it has accepted non at&t sim then it is unlocked obviously

do you have a custom rom? if so it may not ask for code, so it may still be locked. Try t-mobile sim just in case.
Thanks to the both of you for your replies. I was on a fully stock lg nitro. It turns out I was inserting my orange sim card the wrong way therefore the sim lock notification never came up. I popped in my sim card correctly, and sure enough it was blocked. I entered my code and everything went perfectly. I'm now on CM9!! Again thanks for the help

Sony Xperia ION (LT28at)- SIM Card Issue

Hi:
I have Sony Xperia Ion (LT28at) phone with current version of ICS and successfully rooted. My phone is locked
to AT&T.
My issue is SIM card is not detecting.I have unlock code and as per unlock instruction I have inserted other SIM card
and rebooted my phone but no SIM unlock code screen. I think when I insert other working SIM card it should suppose to ask
me for sim unlock code but still I do not see anything, it says "Emergency only". I have verified same SIM card with other
phone and it is working fine.
I will appreciate any help. How do I resolved this issue?
Thanks.

[Q] [SOLVED] Sim lock or sim card problem ?

Hi !
I just started to play with a Wildfire S sim locked by Orange (Cid : ORANG202).
I unlocked it (but it's still S-ON) and flashed successfully several custom roms (Marvellous CM10, CyanogenMod 10.1, AceOne 2.2).
Then I installed a Free Mobile's sim card. The phone only asked me for the sim card code pin, it was accepted, it but I had no network at all. Note that this sim card works in another phone.
I thought it was a simlock problem, that's why I asked Orange for the unlock code, they gave it to me but ...
My problem now is that the phone NEVER asked me for a network unlock code. I have no network. Some roms display a red cross on the sim card icon on the top bar.
Does someone know what's going wrong ?
I finally got it working after flashing nearly stock rom. The phone finally asked me for a network unlock code !
Thank you for your help guys :silly:

Is the phone unlocked or locked?

I am buying a Samsung Galaxy note 2 from craigslist. The post said the phone was locked to telus/koodo and so I messaged them saying that my simcard is from fido and would like to buy it than
unlock it so I could use it. He messaged saying he tried Rogers/bell and it wouldn't work and he doubted it would work with fido ( I don't know if he knows what he is talking about
because the post said it was locked ) and so I asked him if it was unlocked already or was it just locked to telus and koodo because I heard you could put a koodo sim card in a
Telus phone. He also said maybe the sim card reader is broken, but I thought if the sim card reader was broken it wouldn't be able to read any sim card at all not even telus sim card that it's supposedly
locked to. The phone is model SGH-I317M. I really want to buy this phone and it was the best one I found on craigslist. I am thinking of going to test if it is unlocked but how do I tell? Will a message pop
up when I put in my fido sim card in and boot it up saying "phone is locked, put in unlock code" ? :crying:

Yes a message will pop up asking you for the sim unlock code if it's locked. If it's not locked then you'll get signal. You also need to ask them what firmware is on the phone, cuz you can possibly unlock it from the hidden menu. Just search Xda for that.
Good luck on your new device ?
