Congrats, I guess now you gotta make a new account Since you are using Ubuntu OS on your PC, you can always configure WINE on it to run windows applications, which should help your rooting adventure.

So I thought myself fairly competent with roms and such as this is my third smartphone and i've never had that many big errors before.
I used the universal root method and FreeGee and used stock with root for a few weeks, was good. Today I downloaded the CM 10.1 unofficial rom and the gapps and did a TWRP backup. I tried to copy it from my phone to my PC and USB HD using both Linux and Windows. Whenever it got to the data part it would error, I couldn't even rename it. As far as I know, this backup may be no good. I did this backup three full times, eventually using just boot, system and data.
I wiped data, system, cache and dalvik. I installed the CM10.1 rom and tried to boot. sticks on the LG boot screen. I can get into the recovery, tried to do the restore, said successful. Still sticks on the boot screen for LG.
Did I miss some step? At this point I'd be glad going back to stock.
Can you boot to download mode?

I'm not sure where that is. Can you provide a link? Also I can get into Recovery/twrp. I am frustrated that CM won't install for me. I checked my TWRP backup folder, there is just data and system, and I need boot to restore that, right? So frustrated that the backup is bunk and CM won't install properly. I can't find any clear instructions on the process anywhere on the forums. Just wipe, install CM and then boot, right?

Thank you SO MUCH! I have been looking all day for a viable option and this is the first thing that has looked good so far. You're an angel! Or a secular hero figure, if that floats your boat. Either way, you rock!

Brilliant
I was trying to get apps to sdcard working and I managed to foul something up. I know I should have made a backup first, but I thought I only made a change to platform.xml. Thanks in advance.
Anybody? Please? If you're installing a new ROM, you have to do a wipe user data/factory reset anyway. If you could make a backup from there, it would be greatly appreciated.

There is a guide on how to get back to stock in G Pad forum. Why don't you try that.

It looked a little sketchy. So I'm not surprised that I'm stuck in a bootloop now. I thought for certain someone had 3 minutes or so to spare while switching ROMs to make a backup. I'd spend five minutes of my time to save you an hour and a half of aggravation. And I'm no saint.
I'd make one except I have a gpe tab and I'm assuming u have the standard LG edition.

Yep. Thanks for the offer. I tried some of the stock restore tools. Now I can't get my phone to boot and I can't seem to get into recovery or fastboot modes...

Using the R&D Test tool, I can get my tablet into a bootloop where I can execute adb commands. I just haven't figured out what I need to do. I can't reboot into recovery or bootloader.
Holy crap. I finally got somewhere. CWM and CM11 installed. So I can use my tablet again. I'd still like a stock ROM tho. Pretty please?
All thanks to developer @bender_007

I'm working on upping a complete zvg TWRP backup, with no efs.
Efs cannot and will not be shared, by me.
Just taking a bit longer then I expected.

Efs partition is the part that contains your imei and such information.
Looks like someone else posted a TWRP backup without efs partition.

So I know that the marshmallow update came out just a little bit ago and was wondering if anyone has a KDZ that they don't mind sharing? I prefer to upgrade using LG Flash Tool instead of an OTA, LG Bridge, or the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant. Hopefully you understand why.
Thanks!

Except you won't be able to use Titanium to restore anything once the update is finished because there's no root for this device on Marshmallow.
