After rooting the ATT 810 G4, I figured I'd go ahead and change the DPI settings through the build.prop. This has been a great improvement of the UI experience, however it looks like the QuickCircle app becomes unusable. Just wondering if anyone else has changed the DPI setting and knows how to keep the normal DPI setting for the QuickCircle app. It seems like per app DPI would be the way to go, but I'm not quite sure how to achieve that right now on the G4. Many thanks in advance!
Without xposed, it's quite difficult to change individual app dpi

That seems to be the case. Thanks. I think I'll be waiting until xposed comes out for the G4 until I start using my circle case again.

I've found that if you use a digital clock for it just the white circle is off Center (accuweather one works fine)
The weirdest thing about this is that the call handling part of the quick circle (I.e. if you are on a call, the phone is ringing etc.) fits absolutely fine.
The circle highlight swish (technical term) doesn't line up either, but the call stuff does. Very odd
Has anyone figured out how to get the circle highlight light working the correct way?
I got the clock aligned correctly but i didnt find the app responsible for the light circle.
/edit
Got it
These are the apps which i changed to stock DPI via App Settings:
com.lge.lockscreensettings
com.lge.provider.lockscreensettings
com.lge.sui.widget
com.lge.smartcover
com.lge.clock

I guess this is a two-for-one. I did a completely fresh install of CM7 today. I applied the LCD density change manually, and I'm seeing that a good few apps aren't scaling (as in, they appear smaller, but are fully functional). On the previous installs, the apps essentially all worked, and I haven't found a way to get them to scale. Any ideas?
Also, I noticed that now, the messaging app uses the old white theme. I really liked the black one, that had stayed through my installs from a 6.x all the way to 7.0.2. Any way to switch it back? The theme changer didn't change anything.
Thanks.
Messaging - hit menu on the main part - settings - scroll down to extra settings and check black background.
As for the scaling I couldn't tell you. I have the problem too.

Awesome! I can't believe I didn't think to try just tapping menu and settings... thanks.
If anyone knows how to solve the scaling issue, the solution is welcome. It's just odd that it worked before, and now it won't.

Download spare parts from the market, open it up and make sure compatibility mode is not selected then reboot. This should solve scaling issues. But there are some apps which all wayscseem to have issues.

Thanks man! That definitely fixed it.
My google-fu is failing me, as is my forum search ability. Sorry if I'm just missing it.
I'm trying to figure out exactly which app runs in the S View window when you have the cover closed. Reason being is that I'm running my UI at 340 DPI, and when I close the flip cover, the information in the S View window is displayed smaller and off-center.
This happens with several apps, and it's easy to fix with the xposed App Settings module...I just can't figure out which app it is.
Thanks in advance

SView things are all housed in framework-res.apk and android.policy.jar - not in a particular apk unfortunately. I'm pretty sure that would make it inseparable from the overall system dpi settings - but I could be wrong. Hopefully anyway
Hello guys,
i'm here to find the service behind the quickcircle case, I want to know wich app activate it or manage it.
I changed the resolution of my G3 and the quick circle is quite messed up. i'd like to add the app in the App Setting so it can look as usual.
So can anybody help me out?

Very intersted in the lower resolution option to save battery. would you post back your findings if you can get the majority of the LG apps to work? namely the Quick Circle case app, and the messaging app that you have to use with it, to see your mesages.
Well for the resolution i put 1080x1920 with 480 dpi with Nomone
After that installed xposed with App Setting and change the dpi of the lg app (like phone, message, etc.) to 530, which is the minimum for the lg app.
Also, you should change the launcher for the Nova launcher
For the quick circle im still trying to figure out wich service/app it is running
The game poppy pop is working great even with the lower resolution.

Yeah sort of, but it's a bit disapointing. I found out that the quickcircle is actually implemented in the launcher or something like that like suljo said, making it very hard to get to change its resolution. I eventually got a new phone and stop looking into that.
The title is pretty much self-explanatory. Is there a way to set Quick Circle Clock as Daydream but without actually having the Quick Circle case? I don't like the default daydream clock and the quick circle clock is just beautiful but I don't like to use cases on my phone.
Yes, a very good idea but I think LG wants the sales of it's Quick Window cases to stay high so that's why they didn't add it to the DayDream setting originally. Hopefully they will do it in a future update?

ive been thinking same thing.. maybe some dev brings it to our phones...?
If you put a magnet on the left of the screen near center while phone screen off it will enable circle clock

+1 to have a Dev look at this.
I'd really love to install one of the watch face for my lock screen clock!

Been searching for that too, since I just downloaded some custom Clock Theme for my LG G3.

Anyone find a way to do this on the G3 or G4 even?
I don't know how, but two times happened with me that the clock appeared.
First time my wife just put down the phone onto the table, second time I just took it out from my pocket.
Firstly I didn't know what I see, but after some search on the internet I recognized that it is the quick circle clock.
I've checked it and found that it's enabled in the settings.
I don't know how it could happen, but I think somehow my phone recognized something like a quick circle case.
I don't know which sensor is used by the case, I have tried to hide the front sensors, I tried to use my Samsung S4 case too, but I couldn't reproduce it.

Quick question, I have seen a couple of places how to remove the white frames from around the icons.
Should be Settings > Display > Icon frames.
However in my new T-Mobile Note 7, that option is greyed out. I can't click on it to change the settings.
Has anyone else seen this? I would love some assistance.
Thanks in advance!

I think this option only works if you don't have a custom theme applied. If you switch back to the default theme, the option should be available again.
I've noticed the same thing using default thene.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't added a theme. the phone is brand new. I tried clicking on the default theme again just to make sure.
Icon frames is still unavailable.

Maybe just download a frameless icon pack you like.
Having this problem too. Wonder if it's got to do with the system update that got applied on the first day?
Same possibly here. I'm on T-Mobile with default theme. I would like to remove the frame.
I have only been able to change this setting whike in easy mode (which i don't like). It is greyed out for me in standard mode as well.
Ok, I figured it out. I'm using Nova Launcher and Sammy doesn't like that. I changed to touch wiz for my launcher and suddenly Icon frames are available to change.
I changed back to Nova again afterwards, and the change stuck, so it seems to be a reasonable workaround.
Let me know if this works for you.
I don't have a custom launcher but I do have a theme. I deactivated the theme and it worked. I guess the theme locked the borders on. Sucks.
Yeah so I don't think it's launcher specific but rather theme based. Once you apply a theme it seems to lock in whatever the icon choice was. So I went back to default theme (which opened up the option again), changed to icon only, and then applied my theme again. Now it's locked again, but as icon only.
I have no theme and stock launcher and it is still greyed out. Switched to easy mode, made the change and went back and all is well now.

Has anyone had any luck removing the frames and using the Google Now Launcher? I can turn it off in TouchWiz and Easy Mode, but as soon as I switch back to Google Now Launcher they come back and the option to turn them off becomes I unavailable.
I might not mind these damned circles if it was consistent, but it only affects about half the app icons and the other half are normal. It's crazy to look at...
Yeah it seems like the only way to get them to stay TRULY off is to use touchwiz, using the standard them.
I know everyone is saying you can switch to off, then go back to what you were on - and it is "locked in off". I agree that it looks this way in the settings.
However the icons clearly have the frames around them still.
I have stuck with touchwiz for how smooth it is, but I think I am going to give up on it.
Also, the only reason why I say its smooth is because my initial setup was with "good lock" (needed to download an apk for that as it doesn't show up in store) and google now launcher and stuff - but there was a decent amount of choppiness and also the battery was not performing to my expectations. So I did a factory reset (which some people say fixes stuff like this) and sure enough, things got better. Battery better, smoothness better. However I have stuck with normal touchwiz since then... been afraid to change it since everything seems better now lol.
I hear you.
I had to try several different icon themes but i found one (that i like) that doesn't leave borders on the rest of the icons. I think it's some sort of default setting that goes unchanged when custom themes are created.
Trial and error. Good thing the Samsung theme store has a preview option. It reduces a lot of hassle.

Same here. I ended up going back to TouchWiz mostly because I couldn't stand the weird frames on some of the icons. It's not as good as the Google Now launcher, but it's good enough.
I've been searching for this answer for weeks, finally I found it, nearly started to think my device was faulty.
My option is unavailable and I have stock Rom and launcher.
But this option was available but not anymore. Can't understand why???
