Strange Issues from CM11, going to CM12 - What is the proper process? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey XDA,
If anyone would be willing to help me out with what I thought would be a simple update, I'd be very thankful...
My carrier is Sprint. Currently on the latest CM11 snapshot and I have been having all kinds of weird issues.. including:
Launcher icons moving / reconfiguring
Loud Beep or Buzz at random times, eg. switching to speaker phone, opening contacts, etc
Phone was uploading at 6mb/s maxing out my wifi upstream bandwidth without any sign of what was doing the data transfer...
Needless to say I'd like to wipe everything and start fresh with CM12.
My recovery screen has the following info:
***TAMPERED***
***UNLOCKED***
M8_WHL PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-3.16.0.0000
RADIO-1.08.20.0610
OpenDSP-v38.2.2-00542-M8974.0311
OS-
eMMC-boot 2048MB
I am on TWRP V2.7.1.0
I've browsed the guides and how-to's and still am not certain what the proper procedure is to update from where I currently am (or where to find the latest trusted source for Sprint M8 firmware)
I'd like to do it manually so I actually learn and know what I'm doing in the end.
Any help? Should my first step be using Fastboot to update TWRP?

If you have S-off I would take a look through the Sprint M8 forum for the latest firmware or start with an recent RUU. Then update TWRP through fastboot and install CM 12 since it is not likely to run well on the older firmware.

Ok I will answer my own question, after doing some research on this issue in various blogs and forums including xda, this is a common issue, some say when you apply the OTA 1.54.401.5 will bring this missing info on fastboot screen which is what happened in my case.
Anyhow nothing to worry about the phone is fine everything works, it's just for some reason the version info is not displayed. The only way to resolve this is to flash official HTC RUU 1.54.401.5 but that's currently not available.
Hmm mine says the same except the line for OS reads:
OS-
In other words, no "1.54.401.5". Looking in About > Software version, it says 1.54.651.8, but that doesn't show in the fastboot screen either.

What recovery are you using?
This may or may not be related but I had the same issue when running TWRP. I changed to Philz and the problem went away. I tried this four times with the same result.
Phone was working fine just not showing OS in fastboot
TWRP 2.7.0.5. Don't know if it's related or not...

Same issue here.
Nothing to complain about on functionality though.
Waiting for S-Off to be able to update firmware...(I'm one of those who get the Whelp message in firewater)
Another one here. =/ Guess we all have to wait then.
Definitely related to TWRP. Don't know if latest version solves this though...

Well maybe. I upgraded to 2.7.1.0 and now the OS reads 2.16.651.4 (I installed the latest modded firmware as well).
Totally stock here. Have same issue so no fault of twrp

i also had this issue and tried various recoverys to no avail , however i recently wanted to s-off which was not possible with firewater so i used sunshine. To do this i returned to stock first , upon returning to stock all was fine again and i no longer had radio-invalid_ver_info etc
the same for me here ... no Radio, OpenDSP or OS Version.
TWRP 2.7.0.10 flashed ...
Using ARHD 10.2 ROM
But no matter which ROM I install I always need to turn airplane mode on and off to get a carrier signal after reboot ... anyone else experience this issue?
as i posted above , you should try flashing back to stock to correct the version info issue. Since flashing back to stock i have s-off latest firmware installed and custom rom and version info now displays correctly
Invalid_ver_info
My phone (HTC One Mini 2) displays INVALID_VER_INFO for RADIO and OpenDSP, too. But I found out that, when i boot into bootloader with no SD-card inserted, it says RADIO-1.101.1102.17.0506 and OpenDSP-v28.2.2.00546.0331. As soon as I boot into bootloader with SD-card inserted, INVALID_VER_INFO comes back.
I noticed this bug only after I had replaced the recovery with TWRP 2.7. So I can't tell exactly if this bug happened by updating OTA or by installing TWRP 2.7.
Besides that my phone is running perfectly, so there's no need to worry about it.
I need help!!
I have a Sprint harman/kardon edition. In the bootloader it says the following when sdcard is inside
RELOCKED
M8_WHL PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-3.18.0.0000
RADIO-INVALID_VER_INFO
OpenDSP-INVALID_VER_INFO
OS-2.16.654.4
eMMC-boot 2048MB
July 7 2014,20:53:58.0
When I remove the sdcard it says :
RELOCKED
M8_WHL PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-3.18.0.0000
RADIO-1.08.20.0612_4
OpenDSP-v45.2.2-00542-M8974_HM.0422
OS-2.16.654.4
eMMC-boot 2048MB
July 7 2014,20:53:58.0
As I have simunlocked the device for GSM use, It does connects to the carrier but does not start mobile data services. Under selling when I try to click on tab to "ON" . Immediately it says "Disconnected because service is unavailable"
I've already tried going back to stock by renaming harman specified ruu as 0P6BIMG.zip and flshing it through sdcard, it does makes the device go stock but doesnt seem to fix the above mentioned problem.
I would like to point out, it was working fine before I flashed TWRP 2.8.0.1 and a custom rom. I noticed that mobile data was not working in that custom rom, so I decided to back stock and now I am stock but mobile data doesn't work along with above mentioned status.
Please help.
Thanks

[Q] Can't update Sprint HTC One M8 on 4.4.2. (Mac User.)

Hi there,
this is my 2nd thread here, forgive me if my question has been answered already, I swear I already searched for the answer here.
So... some background I bought this Htc One M8 from someone in USA, and i brought it to Mexico, it works and all fine, the problem is that i cant update it. im still on 4.4.2, and every time I download the update it starts fine but suddenly the green bar stops when installing and then a red triangle appears. I've made some research i know how to do stuff on the ADB and Fastboot... Hboot screen tells me this:
***TAMPERED***
***UNLOCKED***
M8_WHL PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-3.16.0.0000
RADIO-1.08.20.0610
OPENDSP-V38.2.2-00542-M8974.0311
OS-
eMMC-boot 2048MB
Jun 4, 2012, 11:54:03.0
Software: 1.54.651.10
CID: SPCS_001
All i want is being able to update to 4.4.3 and then 4.4.4, I thought the Stock Recovery was corrupt, i followed this steps to flash a 1.54.651.8 Stock recovery, retried to update to 4.4.3, and the same happened.
Does anyone know how to make it get the update with this stock ROM?
or else: does anyone know where i can find a PURE HTC Sense 6 Stock Rom (no bloatware, and that can work in Mexico's Telcel network)?
And what are the steps to do any of the above?
One more thing im on a Mac so i cant use RUUs if i had to use them.
Thanks in advance.

Help with flashing process/various questions

I have the HTC One M7 wlv [obviously]. Running TWRP 2.8.7.0 Current bootloader info: unlocked
M7_WLV PVT SHIP S-OFF RH
CID-VZW_001
HBOOT-1.54.0000
RADIO-1.12.42.0906
OpenDSP-v31.120.274.0617
OS-1.10.605.10
eMMC-boot 2048MB
Basically the flashing process has not been smooth for me. Lots of trial and error, softbricking, forum reading and video watching. Downloaded a number of roms and the only one that's worked was the NOS_GPE_v1.0.1_VZWM7_signed. I understand that HBOOT and Radio may be outdated which could be the possible cause for why I get errors when flashing. Anyway, I was hoping someone could give me a concise process of flashing a rom. Meaning I know how to flash from twrp or adb, factory reset, etc. However am I supposed to flash an RUU or OTA first and then the rom or a firmware/radio pkg first. Do I need OTA killer? Also any input on which specific roms have yielded the best results for this phone in terms of battery life and overall experience would be great. NuSenseSix/Seven have looked promising, though I've been unsuccessful in flashing the radio/firmware and rom. This is my first thread so be gentle, thanks.
problem solved now all good

[Help] Returning so Stock Sense or latest GPE version

So I've been stuck on Android version 4.4.3 because I converted from stock Sense to the GPE without creating any form of backups.
I'm completely new to the Android system so I have zero background on these kind of things... I've tried looking around for guides so I don't make unnecessary posts but I get hesitant to follow through with them because I'm not sure if my system details will match with other people's.
To make it short, I want to return back to the legitimate stock sense or the latest GPE version for the HTC One M8. Be it just some guidance on where to look or a full on guide, I will greatly appreciate some help.
Some information about my phone, I got this phone from Wind Mobile( A Canadian provider) and my bootloader currently reads:
***TAMPERED***
***UNLOCKED***
M8_UL PVT SHIP S-OFF
CID-GLOBA001
HBOOT-3.18.0.0000
RADIO-1.19.2133147A1.09G

simple
first change your CID to super CID don't ask me (just google it)
second install MS C++ 2005-2010 32bit, I will say it again 32BIT
and http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8/news/ download this RUU
and open it in windows connect the phone (power it up to 30%) then flash it
NOTEs:************************************
1-it might not flash just because of the rom (tell me if it did not work)
2-there might be no cellular signals (tell me).

HTC One M8 wiped completely - Need help getting back to stock - Noob guide

Hi,
My HTC won't load up at all I bought it with Venom on it and have somehow managed to wipe everything. It only comes up with the three droids at the bottom and hboot, ramdump, reboot, reboot fastboot, power down.

Fastboot USB is enabled. Not a clue how to solve this if you would help me would be highly appreciated.
Google and follow an online guide on unlocking HTC bootloaders.
They literally made it extremely simple, there's no need for hacks, it's fully supported by HTC itself.
If you want more specific guides for your device check this out:
http://www.android.gs/unlock-htc-one-m8-bootloader/
Is custom recovery TWRP installed?
Did you wipe "system" within TWRP?
My recommendation would be to RUU back to full stock. Which will also properly update the firmware, which looks like it was not proper done; which is why OS number is red, and also that number (indicates Lollipop firmware - but red indicates there is an issue) does not correspond with the radio number (Kitkat radio).
If any actions are suggested after RUU, depends on whether you prefer to stay on stock, or want to flash Viper back onto the phone.
