Is there a better tether solution now with root? - Verizon LG G4

I've been using FoxFi with my Verizon G4, but hate that it forces me to use a PIN or Password lock screen.
Now that we have root, is there a better way to tether (unlimited data) than FoxFi?
Would the trick to edit build.prop for no provisions work, similar to the Nexus 6?
I tried the WiFi Tether Router app, but couldn't get the hotspot to show up on my computer.

I am both ashamed for asking and extremely grateful for the answer! Works great. Thank you.

Clarity on hacked hotspots

So it seems that none of the tethering apps work on the ICS ROMs currently (at least not for me, the AD-hoc does not work), but the roms I use include hacked hotspot. Is this referring to the Sprint app that comes with the ROM by default? I have always used wifi tether apps because I an weary of activating that feature on my Sprint account and having to pay for it. If someone can clarify this for me then I would greatly appreciate it.
Wifi tether works fine for me on ICS. Make sure you choose Galaxy Nexus CDMA/LTE (toro) in the app settings.

if your rom includes hacked hotspot, I would take advantage of it. It basically is a work around the lock that Sprint has on it's hotspot feature. I would recommend that you use the hotspot hack so you can tether via 4G as opposed to using wifi tether with 3G speeds. It's all by preference though.
I am waiting for the tFD19_v0.1.0 odexed rom to get the hotspot hack so i can get back to my 4G speeds. But wifi tether is the best one so far for tether apps. Just make sure you change the Device-Profile to Samsung Galaxy Nexus (CDMA/LTE) and keep everything else on auto

[Q] WiFi Hotspot configuration? (Gnex JB/AndroidAP/FoxFi)

Hello, I’m new to XDA Forum and thank you in advance for answering my basic question.
Verizon Gnex stock. Wi-Fi Hot Spot?
Prior to JB OTA update I installed PDAnet, FoxFi & FoxFi Addon. The Gnex is my only net access right now. After JB update I installed SwitchPro to get a WiFi Hot Spot. I assume it’s the native one “AndroidAP”. FoxFi is now works after developer fix for JB. So I have FoxFi and SwitchPro installed but things aren’t working correctly.
SwitchPro no longer launches the native Wi-Fi “AndroidAP” but launches the FoxFi hotspot instead. ? When I launch FoxFi I now get two Wi-Fi notifications on the bar. When LTE/3g searches/toggles the FoxFi active Wi-Fi Hotspot indicates "Off" but the Gnex settings Tethering & portable hotspot indicator shows FoxFi "active". ?
I like the SwitchPro switches but also use PDAnet for USB Tether. 4g LTE reception is spotty where I live. Bounces between 4g/3g a lot but getting better.
Would someone help me properly setup the wi-fi hotspot apps and switches?
Thanks much
Would someone care to help an old guy fix this minor issue?
Thank you.
I was under the impression that since then FoxFi app was fixed for jb, and there is the addon for it, switch pro was no longer needed?
I could be wrong as I do not tether so those apps serve me no purpose.

VIPER Rom Tethering Q&A Please

Ok i am having trouble with getting the right tethering app for this rom.I have been searching since the 26th for a tethering app that works right,I have used barnicle, easy tethering(works but not wireless),Wireless Tethering(Saids starting but also logs error)Im needing a wireless tethering app that will actually work like its suppose to because my phone is the only way i can use my internet and me and my wife normally use it on both of our laptops at the same time.Im not A verizon customer.I personally flashed my Dinc 2 to Cricket.I do have a tethering plan but since i flashed from 2.3.3 rom my wireless tethering doesnt work..Barnicle works sometimes but connection speed is 11mbs when stock tethering was running 54mbs...The app is really slow and then when me and my wife gets on from our laptops at the same time it acts like it kicks me or her off to run on just one laptop at a time...Can someone please help???Does anyone know how i can fix this or is there a app that im not finding that actually works like system 3g Hotspot???Thank yall
No network
I flashed this ROM last night and lost any network connection, not sure why, could connect over wifi, I'm hoping thee is a fix for the tethering because I use the phone for internet at work and use Barnacle, which has always worked flawlessly.
Barnacle works fine as far as I can tell. Using it now.
I'm using barnacle as well, but you only get ad-hoc mode. Has anyone had luck with wifi tether or opengarden or any of the other apps? I need to get on my work VPN, but it doesn't connect through ad-hoc, so barnacle is no good for that.

[Q] WiFi Tether enable or working app?

Hey all,
Does anyone have a wifi tethering app suggestion? or specific settings to set on a particular app to get wifi tethering working?
I'm rooted using MotoChopper. I tried WiFi Tether for Root Users and I can get the app to start just fine but my the network doesn't appear to be broadcasting as I can't see it on any other devices.
I can't use the built in hotspot feature because it's not enabled on my plan.
I understand it's early in the development stages for the SGS4 but just seeing if anyone has a workaround for the time being.
Thanks,

Some strings need to be edited in the framework to change where the traffic get directed to so T-Mobile doesn't see you are tethering. Then you will be able to use the native app/toggle.

does it provide free tethering? or are you on a tethering data plan?
Is it possible to redirect all tethered traffic through a VPN and therefore circumvent t-mobiles tether detection?
E.g. set up an SSH tunnel with port forwarding on the phone and then set your phone as a proxy server on your PC?
Or, if t-mobile only uses user-agent detection, can you simply use a VPN directly from your PC? As all traffic is then encrypted, t-mobile should no longer be able to identify its origin.
im on my unlimited plan, and the free version is limited to a small bandwidth limit. 8 bucks for the full version and no additional fees.

[Q] Wifi tether without verification?

I have a T-Mobile Note 3, still using the stock rom but I have rooted it. My question is there any way to wifi tether that does not "verify" tethering status with T-Mobile?
When starting up the built in hot-spot or FoxFi a popup comes up and tethering is verified with T-Mobile.
I know, I know, T-Mobile comes with X amount of free tethering. I have 2.5 gigs of free tethering and I never go over it. However, I'm going to Mexico for two weeks and T-Mobile has unlimited free international data but no tethering. I assume the "verify" step is going to stop me from tethering.
What rooted app will allow wifi tethering for the Note 3 that does no verification with T-Mobile? I've already tried 10 wifi tether apps from the market place and none of them work on the Note 3.
Bumping as I have a similar question. With Jellybean I just froze the provisioning apk and this worked. In Kitkat doing this causes force closes.
I have a Tasker task that turns on the hotspot when my radio connects to my phone via Bluetooth. This works fine if the screen is on, but the point is to have this happen automatically. If I have to take my phone out of my pocket and make sure the screen stays on, I might as well just turn on tethering manually. The task does run as I have verified that the other parts of the task run while the screen is off.
I'm pretty sure that all the info to address this is in a thread that I just bumped a minute or 5 ago.
I figured it out. At least for my situation. I have tethering and I wasn't trying to bypass any limits. I just wanted to enable tethering without the screen being on. I modified the framework-res APK to not call the provisioning APK and froze the Tethering*.apk files.
I tried to attach the file but it is not working. I will try again later.
framework-res.apk
I also added Bluetooth tethering option.
Can you give us the link daneurysm ? Thanks!
