I soft bricked my i747m with Telus and I need to flash the stock ROM via ODIN but I'm not sure which file to use. Can someone point me in the right direction and possibly give me a link? Thanks.
What bootloader is on the phone? You can use any stock ROM from sammobile.com as long as the ROM from sammobile contains the same or newer bootloader than the one currently installed on the phone.
I believe the latest Telus is FOB1

Hey everyone, I've soft-bricked my Samsung Galaxy S 3 i747m (Rogers, currently unlocked on a Bell network). I want to flash back to the Bell stock rom if I could. I know how to get in to download mode and use Odin to flash a rom, but for whatever reason it doesn't seem to be overwriting the existing rom and settings. Is there something I don't know about the Galaxy S 3 747 to get it to take a new rom? Any help is much appreciated!
Sure you got the right version?
Make sure the rom you downloaded is the bell's stock and not att or Roger
And make sure you run Odin as admin

Hey guys, I've been searching for a couple hours now and have came up empty handed.
I'm trying to find a stock rooted ROM for my Sasktel i747m (baseband/bootloader= MF1] . I already have the Odin-able version but i don't have access to a computer for a few days so i am looking for a flashable zip that i can flash in cwm recovery? I know these type of zips exist for the us carriers....but has anyone made one for the Canadian versions???
any help or links would be great..
AGAIN, I'M LOOKING FOR A FLASHABLE STOCK ROOTED ZIP FOR sasktel I747M (BASEBAND MF1) THAT I CAN FLASH IN CWM 6.0.4.7 RECOVERY...NOT ODIN.
Thanks!

did you ever solve this issue? I was wondering the same thing, wanting to flash back to rogers 4.1.1/2 and them back to Quantum to fix the minor LTE issue. I was considering mobile ODIN.

Do you have the i747m? If you do, you can try flashing a stock ROM from sammobile. Not sure if you can use Odin with a 4.3 bootloader.

yep, i'm on the i747m with the LK4 bootloader, so I think that's 4.1.1? Ideally, I was hoping to just use CWM to flash everything - stock rom, then back to quantum, but I hadn't found a flashable version of stock rom for CWM yet. I will check out sammobile, though, thanks.
I never did find a zip...I ended up odining back and then making sure i made a stock rooted nandroid before going back to aosp...
Ive unrooted my phone via the super user app but I still have the Liquid Smooth ROM. From everything I read I was under the impression it would reboot completely stock
How do get it back to stock ROM!? I have been searching everywhere and nothing?
I want to get my OTA updates as I haven't used this phone since last year. I don't have access to a computer as NY charger bit the dust and I'm working the next 2 weeks in a remote location with no WiFi (I have data though)
Can any on help me, I'm slightly desperate as this Liquid Smooth ROM lags horrible, reboots if I try to use the front camera (in any app!) and is missing a lot of simple stock features like the messaging app lol,
Oy what have I done am I stuck with this or is there a way to reroot without a PC so I can flash a stock ROM?!
I'm assuming you have the i747 from AT&T.
Unrooting simply removes your administrator access to system files and apps that need root access to be fully functional, that's all.
What bootloader is on your phone? If the phone has a 4.1.2 bootloader or lower, the easiest way to get back to stock would be to flash a stock AT&T ROM from sammobile. com using Odin and I recommend living with the phone in its current state until your get access to a PC and charger.
If your bootloader is 4.3 or higher, you cannot flash a stock AT&T ROM using Odin because AT&T naver released a full ROM that can be flashed that way. You'll confirm your bootloader and follow the appropriate thread to get as close to stock as possible.
I keep mentioning the bootloader because flashing the wrong bootloader/modem combination could hard brick your phone.

I attached an image does that help as far as boot loader goes? I'm not sure how to check it. I have the I747M on virgin mobile Canada. Att ROMs have usually worked perfectly. So if my boot loader is compatible I can flash a stock ROM with Odin without rerooting?
Since you have an i747m, the safest and easiest way to restore to completely stock would be to wait until you can flash a stock 4.3 ROM via Odin. Do not attempt to flash anything older than 4.3.
Custom AT&T ROMs will work on your i747m but I don't recommend using stock AT&T ROMs on an i747m. Also, do not flash AT&T modems or bootloaders onto an i747m as this will probably brick your phone.

Okay that first part sounds simple enough for me.
But what would be a preferable stock ROM to flash if not ATT (assuming you say this because my phone is Virgin Mobile Canada) If I remember correctly I had flashed a ATT stock ROM a long time ago and ended up with no service and security issues that I eventually fixed but were a pain in the arse to figure out. I don't know if I've ever come across a Virgin Mobile ROM. I believe they are a sub company of Bell btw.
Go to sammobile.com and flash any mk5 firmware you want for the i747m. You can choose from Rogers, Bell, and Telus.
I have cross-flashed a Rogers ROM onto a Telus Phone and a Telus ROM onto a Bell phone.
Based on my own experience, all i747m ROMs for Canadian carriers appear to be the same except for carrier customisations.

Okay! Perfect this is a lot more straight forward than I anticipated, thank you SO much!!
When flashing the ROM with Odin, uncheck everything except f.reset time. When the flash is complete, you will see the word "reset" in the status window. When you see reset, remove the USB cable, remove the battery, replace the battery, boot into recovery, and wipe cache, data, Dalvik, and reboot.
i have rooted and unlocked galaxy s3(i don't know if it is t999 or i747)the imei and boatloader are for t999 and the android build is i747mvldlk4 4.1.1 official rom and i want to flash new rom but i don't know what i have to flash (t999 roms or i747)please help me....
What does it day in download mode? What about the baseband/modem version?
Best way to know for sure is to install terminal emulator and enter this:
getprop ro.bootloader
You may simply have a T999 running on an I747 based rom. The two are very compatible when it comes to custom roms.
Since it sounds like you are on pretty old firmware, you will probably need to fully update it before flashing a newer rom. Just remember to only flash firmware for your model device. So if it's a T999 do not flash I747 firmware. Once updated you can then flash custom roms from either device.
(Also check the sticker under the battery to see what model it says)
baseband:t999uvdmd5 and modem board is msm8260a
What about the bootloader?
boatloader:t999uvdmd5
And just for good measure, check the sticker under the battery.
You are currently running on T999 base firmware with an I747 based rom, so you can be pretty certain you've got a T999 model.
You'll want to flash one of the two latest firmwares for the T999. (NC2 or OH1 if I'm remembering correctly) (note that some roms may not flash on the newest OH1 firmware if they have been updated recently, so you may want to go with NC2 to make things a little easier for now.)
After flashing your firmware, flash a custom recovery and then from the recovery flash your choice of rom.
Hope that helps and good luck!
thanks so much for help....but i want to ask about the files which i need to download when i flash nc2 firmware please(do i need to download any files for modem and kernel or this files are downloaded automatially with the firmware file??
When you are dealing with firmware, it includes everything, unless otherwise stated. Download and unzip the firmware package. Then flash the .tar.md5 file with Odin. Back up data first of course, just in case.
Doing this will give you a fully updated, stock, unrooted device. Reroot using Towel root, or flash recovery then a rom if you choose.
If you haven't already, I suggest reading the first few posts of my firmware thread (sticky in dev section). There's already a lot explained there.
does flashing t999uvuenc2 relock my mobile network..and if that will happens what can i do to unlock without code
Once the phone has been unlocked via code or the free method, the phone should remain unlocked after flashing ROMs.
Yup, the unlock is permanent. You can safely flash firmware, roms, etc.
ihave flashed cm12.1 d2tmo on my t999.but the features of camera like full HD video recording and face detecting were lost..can I restore them on this rom
I have a Canadian Galaxy S3, on 4.1.1 DLK4 Official. I rooted it, and have TWRP.
I want to upgrade my rom to a CM12/13 but of course with root and custom recovery, OTA updates are blocked.
I need newer bootloaders and modem to run the newer android versions.
Should I install them now, while on 4.1.1, and then flash CM12, or should I sequentially update each of the AT&T firmwares until I get up to 4.4.2?
Do official roms have the bootloaders and modems in them and install them automatically?
Should I use the Kies restore method?
The Canadian and att s3 phones are not the same model number. Don't flash an att bootloader to your Canadian phone as this may brick the phone.
Flash latest stock rom from Sammobile.com, flash twrp, flash cm.

Okay, but i can use AT&T roms tho?
The i747m will work with d2can, d2lte, and d2att Roms.
Is it safe to flash straight from 4.1.1 to 4.4.2 using a sammobile rom? will i brick due to Knox bootloader and modem?
Can I flash it using TWRP?
If someone could link a tutorial that would be very helpful.
I keep reading stuff that says to flash the newer bootloader before flashing a 4.3 firmware, and some that say the opposite. Others say that people should incrementally update.
I want to go from 4.1.1 original with Root and TWRP, to CM13.
Thank you.
Yes, you can flash the latest stock 4.4.2 rom from Sammobile.com directly to your phone. No need to do anything other than backing up your data.

Now I just need to get the balls again to use odin. Flashing the custom recovery using the Universal Tool Kit that had step by step walkthrough was adrenaline rush enough LOL.
I could also use Kies, as that has 4.4.2 OB3 (telus), and also has "emergency firmware recovery" feature if a brick ever happens. Though ideally the only time boot.img gets flashed is only with Full Stock Firmware files.
I find kies to be unreliable when I have tried to restore firmware so I always stuck with Odin.
