Saw this too. Never had that happen before. Still waiting for answer to above post. Can you flash viper without twrp?

Just did using THIS no trouble so far

Rom manager ,Titanium backup, are good apps for rooted phone.

Does reboot to recovery work for you on ROM toolbox?

Nope reboot recovery in ROM Tool box is broken. I can get to TWRP from flashify

Still can't get Viper to work. Any way to do it with a locked bootloader?

You can type: "reboot recovery" in terminal to reboot to twrp. Add Terminal Emulator to the list of good root apps.

[Q] lost root still have supersu installed

yesterday I upgraded to 4.1.2 from my t mobile s3.. and now that when I try to open any root applications like titanium backup and greenify it says root access needed. I downloaded root checker.. and it says *you have no proper root access*.. I don't know how the supersu is still installed?? and it can not be uninstalled..? I tried to uninstall from the settings and asked me to reboot.. but still supersu was there? can anyone tell me how to permanently uninstall it so that I can root my phone again and clean install a supersu?
note: I did not have any custom rom installed. . was just having root access and supersu. .
How did you update? I'm guessing you have no custom recovery so if you want to keep everything stock but just have root, then flash the MD5 or respective root66 image for your phone in Odin
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
Just because you have Supersu does not mean you are rooted. What is the version after update ?

I updated from the notification bar on my mobile.. and yeah I did not have custom recovery either. . should I just root my phone again? I don't know what to do.. I have frozen some of the bloatware from titanium and I can't get them back? even after force stopping titanium backup.. ?
thanks.. I force stopped supersu and disabled it from there.. and it gone away..

How to: B506 ROOT

I thought that i open a thread about how to root the new KitKat b506 rom. If anyone had a successfull rooting, post it here. (Without custom recovery)
BB
VRoot 1.7.6.5833 rooted my Kitkat. Stock recovery.
The only catch is, it installed a Chinese version of Supersu. In old Vroot, I could put an English Superuser in the System partition to replace it. But since the previous version, I couldn't do it. So now I have to put up with a partial English and Chinese allow-dialog. No big deal.

Just a quick question if you don't mind?
Does the SuperSU app work properly, without FC when you open the app?
The reason I'm asking is that the toast message of SuperSU is really long ("SuperSU has granted blah blah blah blah blah" or something like that), and it annoys me! Whereas with Superuser, the Toast message is short and sweet (Superuser has been granted").
EDIT: Never mind, I see the latest SuperSu app on the play store is working perfectly, and I've now uninstalled Superuser.
So, I'd REALLY like to turn that toast message off, and I don't want to keep getting the popup saying that the su binary needs to be updated with Superuser.

Why are you so obsessed with rooting WITHOUT custom recovery? You can root with TWRP and revert back to stock recovery. What's the problem?
For B506 root use this via twrp recovery :https://www.dropbox.com/s/nyfd8hd4wj3o842/superuser.zip

superuser.zip is not needed. TWRP will fix root itself at first reboot from recovery. After boot you find a SuperUserInstaller in your applist.

I have root access but lack the ability to boot to recovery!

I'm currently running the stock Rom with build E98020h. I have successfully achieved root access and have verified it through several apps, and also have supersu installed and seemingly operating fine. I have tried using the 'g pro kitkat recovery' app to flash the recovery, and also freegee but freegee at the opening screen says my device is unsupported. When i go into rom manager v5.5.3.7 and try install a custom rom or even just tap boot to recovery i get an error at the loading screen with the LG logo and it sits there. Am i doing something wrong or is the 20h update keeping me from being to successfully reach recovery? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

20h may be blocking you off...
You could try using LG Flash Tool to go back to stock 4.1.2 (E98010k) and then using FreeGee to bypass and go from there. But idk if that'll work.

I don't think that's possible. You're going to have to flash back to an older version using lg flash tools. If you need to back up anything like texts and contacts, use G Cloud. If you need game data/other data related to specific apps backed up, use Helium. If you're attached to stock try flashing a stock ROM, it will be very similar to your experience now. That'll ensure you get the latest KitKat and still get stock experience... you can always go AOSP too.
thanks... I was hoping to just not have to Flashtools my phone again =P and since its been a while since I checked the forums I wasnt sure if 20h was sorted out yet or not.

I found this elsewhere trying to unlock my e980 that was on 20h when I got it.
OK so I found that G Pro KK recovery elsewhere and installed it but wasn't sure what to do from there.. Which option did you choose when running it? Flash recovery, reboot, or reboot recovery? I tried to reboot to recovery and I got into a CWM recovery, but at that point wasn't sure if I was really there or if I needed to flash the recovery from there or from the app.
I'm dying to get rid of the stock ROM on this thing but there are more steps involved than my previous devices.
Thanks!

All the APK does as I have found out is 'unlocks' the recovery access. After I ran that app I installed Freegee from the app store and installed the CMW recovery from there just to make sure it all was installed and correctly accessible. at that point you just need to download the ROM that you are intending to install and download it. put the zip somewhere in your directory. boot to recovery wipe the necessary mediums and then install from the app and CWM will take care of the rest. Most of the forum threads that have the links to the ROMs will have full instructions on how to install that certain ROM. I can supply links to some if need be. NOT MY THREADS but ones I found helpful.

installing the ROM isn't an issue for me, it's getting the recovery installed.
What process did you do after starting up the G Pro Recovery app? install recovery, reboot, then run freegee?

Yes. Open and run the G Pro Recovery app, once that is done you need to reboot. Install Freegee and open it. I installed CWM. You can use whatever you want. Then I reboot again, once the phone comes back up I used clockwork mods recovery manager to get in and out of recovery. Also, I pulled my SD card out of the phone prior to rooting as I would lose access to it after I did the process. So just to be safe you might want to do that.

Once you take the update then root your device again you have to do a factory reset on your phone in order to flash a recovery. Currently running E98020I, been there, done that! G Pro KitKat then FreeGee. Mic check 1 2, 1 2

If you just want to install the recovery, get an app call flashify from the play store. Install the app, then download and then flash the twrp .IMG file that you've gotten from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3144369

Can't root my ZenFone 2 Z008 (550ML)

[SOLVED]
Hi guys, I'm having troubles trying to root my ZF2 550ML.
I unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP and rooted it from the official Asus ROM, then installed some custom roms, but I did once wipe everything because I had a bootloop, then reinstalled CM 13 and it's working great, but I tried to root with method 2 & 3 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/asus-zenfone-2-flashing-recovery-mode-t3096596 but it wasn't working, it gave me bootloop as well...
I downloaded the official ROM from Asus, should I wipe everything then reinstall the ROM from the recovery?
Thanks for the help
Up guys, please
CM13 is pre-root. Activate it in developper options. You can also flash supersu zip via twrp if you want but not necessary.

You don't need supersu with Cm13! Once you activate root in DO root management is handled by privacy guard.

well : I am also having trouble rooting COS 13 ...
I received a (new) Swift for a friend and when I flash SuperSU v2.46 from recovery, the phone reboots and only shows (forever):
Code:
cyanogen
mod
ready
I tried several custom recoveries (twrp 2.7 and 3.0 and CM-13.0).
To recover I needed to fastboot re flash stock.
Note that I could once root COS 12.1 on another Swift phone for another friend just fine.
So this seems a 13.0 specific issue. Perhaps how SuperSU handles Android 6.
Good news is I can take a TWRP backup. But I would also want to be
able to take Titatium Backup and do other things that require root.
Does this ring a bell?
Thanks for enlightening me how to root COS 13.0
