Hello,
So I've flashed before Slimbean, but had problems with the "can't connect to camera" problem, so I decided to flash Slimkat 4.4.4 which fixed the camera problem.
New problem now is that i can't get any gps signal. I can turn it on, but no signal. Anyone have a solution to this, or is experiencing the same problem?

Hi, the link you provided points to build 4. You can find build 9 which is the latest slimkat here http://www.slimroms.net/index.php/downloads/dlsearch/viewcategory/1183-d2lte
This is the one I have for my Koodo I747M. *note camera seemed a little buggy in some instances, so I installed open camera. Seemed to work a lot better.
I'll give it a try, thanks for the help. Quick question, will this work on my phone model without bricking? I only tried the at&t not the d2lte.
Also can you send me the link for this open camera you were talking about for my device as well?

I'd imagine it should be ok, since we have the same phone pretty much I'm on koodo which is pretty much telus without the customer service hehe. for kitkat at the end of development they basically lumped a d2att, d2tmo etc together. (this has reverted for the lollipop builds out there).
The last OTA I got was FOB1, so you may want to go to stock to ota to the latest updates from telus. Just so you have the latest bootloader/firmware. But that's up to you of course.
It's a google play app open source, the slimkat one I had seemed to lockup when switching from front to back camera and from camera to video. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera&hl=en
What are you using to flash them?

Im not very experienced lol and got lost on:
"The last OTA I got was FOB1, so you may want to go to stock to ota to the latest updates from telus. Just so you have the latest bootloader/firmware. But that's up to you of course. "
I'm using TWRP
Ah, ok I just keep a backup in case anything goes bad flashing roms. If you use TWRP to flash them it only affects the boot image, data and system. So if you have problems you can restore from backup nice and easy.
I'm swapping between a few right now. So far my only uh oh experience was when I tried to upgrade TWRP, no problems with roms. But I use TWRP as well, works great.
Basically the baseband version on our phone, it's the radio and bootloader. Before I had rooted it I had gotten the latest updates by checking for updates. It downloaded and upgraded to FOB1 (Baseband I747MVLUFOB1), then I rooted and played with flashing. Not sure if you made a backup of your original install before trying another rom. But it's not a necessity for slimkat, I don't believe.

First thing to try for GPS problems is taking off the back cover and snugging up all the little screws around the phone. Sometimes they work their way loose and the GPS antenna seems to be the first thing to suffer from it.
If that doesn't cure it you might need to flash a stock or at least stock based ROM and rebuild the nvram. Here's a link that describes how to do that if you need to.

I have seen a variety of posts in various threads about people not being able to get GPS connections and blaming the ROM they were on the for the problem - I imagine that sometimes that could be the reason but something happened to me recently that makes me wonder...
I am a flashaholic - often going back and forth between various ROMS via Nandroid back ups - all was good - then recently I noticed my GPS wasn't working. I thouht it was the rom - but no matter what I did I could not fix it. I tried installing other roms - totally clean install - I tried flashing back to rooted stock and no matter what I tried, GPS did not work.
I don't know where I saw it, but I finally saw a post from someone who suggested fixing it by going back to stock via odin - I tried that and it didnt work either - digging a little deeper someone suggested using odin to going back to pure stock then go into settings and do a factory restore.
I tried it - and it worked - took me virtually all day to figure it out - but it is working better than ever now - I wish I knew what caused it in the first place - but at least I found a somewhat reasonable solution.
If you have lost your GPS and can't get it working again - give it a shot -
Does anyone else have any other suggestiions that might work?
This is correct. I had this exact same issue and this worked for me as well.

Do you know why it happend in the first place? Was it the result of a specific Rom or just flashing in general?
Thats what i found that worked for me too. It only worked after i went into settings and reset the phone after odin.

I heard it was sprint based leaks on the s3

I recently lost my GPS after flashing a Sprint-based ROM. Unfortunately, ODIN back to stock and factory reset from the Settings menu (and from recovery) did not bring back my GPS.
However, I followed a suggestion from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923067
I used ODIN to go back to a rooted stock ROM, installed CWM, installed the Sprint-based ROM that seemed to have been the source of the trouble. My GPS started working again. I then used CWM to restore a stock nandroid backup I had from earlier and GPS continued to work thereafter in any ROM I flashed.
There may be a simpler process, but that's what worked for me.

Now that I thnk of it, I also had flashed a Sprint Based rom - that must have triggered my original issue - I explained what I did to restore my GPS at the start of this thread _ and it is similar to what you described - execept I did not odin to a SPRINT rom - I used ODIN to bak to pure stock - then did a factory restore - (and this second step is what seemed to do the trick) then I re-rooted and went backto my happy days of flashing roms - I haven't had an issue since.

Well...that may not be the cause but it's a common denominator. I did and I had to flash back to stock and factory wipe to get mine back.

It definitely seems to be a common element to most of these GPS issues. I'm not sure why, in some cases, all it takes is a factory reset in stock to fix it, while others have to re-install the Sprint ROM first. Either way, though, it seems like in most cases, it's user-fixable.
Got the GPS death syndrome today. Flashed a ton of stock ICS nandroid backups without any luck. Finally fixed it after flashing a Sprint JB ROM nandroid then back to ICS. Such a werid issue.

Because its the only official US Jelly Bean released at the moment.
It was one of the many backups I had. Don't know why it fixed it but it did.
I have the same issue. Now to flash a stock rom using Odin, do you have to use the toolkit? Also where can I download a Rogers stock rom from?
finally after losing gps and reading thread after thread got it to work , thank you to the guys that personally try to help , dont know why it struck this time but it did , now i will try to bring it back to stock , again thanks , by the way the rom i was using to bring it back was serenity 1.1 which i use before but wouldn't stick...:good:

If your problem started after installing a Sprint-based ROM, then root your phone, install CWM and then install that same Sprint ROM. Your GPS will probably work after that. You can then restore a Nandroid backup of another ROM. That's how a lot of us were able to fix our GPS.

Ok so ever since I updated to any of the 4.4.2 rom (i.e. Cm11, Cyanfox, SlimKat and Carbon Rom) my accelerometer won't work correctly.
At first I thought it was a GPS issue but after looking into it more the GPS locks fine. It's only the direct in google maps or any other GPS like app that is messed up. For instance, when I'm using google maps and I'm facing north it will show me facing east, then when I change directions it can't figure out which direction I'm facing and spins around in circles and maps will crash. Same thing happens when I use GPS Status, the app will say I'm facing the wrong direction and when I move direction it starts to spin out of control.
I defiantly don't think its a hardware issue since everything was working fine with the touchwiz rom and 4.3 roms. If anyone has any clue on how to fix this I would greatly appreciate it. This is pretty much the only thing that is wrong for me with any kitkat roms.
I have a tmobile galaxy s3 and current running SlimKat build 3. :crying:

I gave it a shot but no luck. I have also used GPS status and FasterGPS but like I said before I don't think its a GPS issue because it does lock on to my location fine. It's just my compass doesn't work correctly.
I believe CM has a Advanced Option to Re-Calibrate Accelarometer. Settings > Advanced is where the option is I think. I use Slim Bean so I don't have CM details.
Oh yeah I forgot about that but it still didn't work. I appreciate all the ideas though.
You may want to go back to Stock and then try. Just to rule out any hardware issues. It will also wipe any corrupt firmware.

Do you mean odin to stock or just flash a stock rom? If it's odin I'll definitely try it when I get home. The thing I find weird is that when I flashed the S3Rx rom, everything was working fine.
I'd do Odin before trying anything else.
So I odin back to stock and like before everything was working properly. Then when I flashed back to carbon rom, is back to pointing in the wrong direction and spinning out of control.
I'm surprised that I'm one of the only if not the only one with this problem. Is there an app that I can manually calibrate which direction I'm pointing?
I'm out of ideas...
Can you flash a different kernel on top of Carbon ?

I flashed KT kernel, BMS, Harkness and DKP. For a little while it seemed like BMS had fixed it but then went back to the same ol' sad story. :crying:
Try Another Rom please. Not just Carbon. This time try a 4.3 rather than Kitkat.
I have tried other roms and I stated that this didn't happen till I started using Kitkat roms. When I was on carbon 4.3.1 there weren't any problems as well as on S3Rx 4.3 rom. Not sure why this only happens on Kitkat roms and what seems like only to me. I'll continue to look for solutions cause I really like the look and feel of Kitkat.
So after searching and searching I finally found a fix! I was about to give up hope but decided to try one last kernel, Quantum kernel. At first it seemed like it wasn't working but I had to calibrate my accelerometer with GPS Status. After that everything was gravy! I hope this helps others that have the same problem I did!
Greetings, I wonder if somebody can solve the following problem. I'm from Venezuela and I bought this model GT-I9192 in December 2013 when the update came out this year it was updated from 4.2.2 (JellyBean) to 4.4.2 (KitKat). I almost never use the camera of this phone and then I noticed that every time I opened the camera app I would get "Warning: Camera Failed". Thinking it was the update I proceeded to install the Cyanogenmod rom 11 for this model, but continued with the same problem. The flash works every time I turn the flashlight application. I took it to a technician telling me that the problem was not hardware but software. This is where my troubles began. I do not remember which firmware was installed. I tried to install several firmwares 4.2.2. but without success all with flashing failures. However, I could install version 4.4.2 of Trinidad and Tobago but with the same camera error. Hopefully someone can help me with this problem. I would like to know exactly what firmware should download to install? Thank you very much.

I registered here just to answer your question.
My Android expertise is very limited but I try to learn from past experience. If I understand correctly, your want:
1. the camera should work.
2. the phone should function properly.
If you do not remember your original firmware, do not worry as it does not matter. Once your upgraded to KK, Knox (google it) kicked in to prevent you from downgrading to JB. That's why all flashing efforts to downgrade failed. So, you can keep your phone with KK if the phone works except camera. In case you want to downgrade to JB, I am sure that able XDA members can help you with that. I am unaware if such methods exist.
Now, to see if the camera works there are several methods. I encountered the same problem with my wives i727 Skyrocket which has JB 4.1.2 installed. One day the camera suddenly failed with the error "Warning: Camera Failed". The flash-light worked flawlessly so I was a bit perplexed. I researched and found several remedies:
1. From application manager, clear cache/data of the camera app and restart phone - Tried this several times, did not work.
2. Perform factory reset- Thought I'd use it as a last resort as the phone had gigs of data in it.
3. Uninstall apps (last installed app uninstalled first and so on) - I uninstalled the last installed app and restarted the phone. Voila! The camera was back. I have no explanations why but it just worked.
Let us know how it goes, good luck!
On the i9195, it is possible and easy to downgrade to JB since there's a 4.2.2 firmware which is similar to the 4.4.2 firmwares, but I don't know about the i9192.
Be careful with this;
If you know what you are doing, get the CWM recovery, format system/data and flash a 4.4.2 firmware again. If that didn't fix it, I suspect that it's a hardware problem and it's having problems with the software, but there should be something wrong with the hardware, for sure.
Good Luck.

The problem, in fact is a fault in the hardware problem. If it's still under warranty, request a new phone.
Someone showed me the thread with the 12.1 cm rom and the .img for the recovery is it okay if I use flashify to put the recovery on my phone instead of using odin after rooting? Or does someone have a .tar recovery for the L520 in a drop box somewhere? also do I need to update my firmware before flashing a rom? I think I'm on firmware na7 on 4.2.2
it's fine, trust me use flashify. Odin doesn't flash .img files. No, you don't need to update your firmware, it's going to be flashed over anyways.
Seemed to work fine. That cm 12.1 rom still working okay for you?
There's a few little annoyances but it's working okay otherwise. I get an exclamation point by my bars sometimes and have to reset the apn to fix it. GPS has some issues so it's become more a roadmap than actual guidance and I can't send mms but that's not really an issue as I have unlimited data and can just facebook messenger as a workaround. I hope that these issues get fixed but I understand that alot of 5.1 roms have issues with the exclamation point thing and even some unrooted 5.1 phones have the problem. It would be nice to see a fix for these issues but I don't see anyone making any more roms for this phone and the guy that made this rom seems to have landed a job with cyanogenmod and is too busy to update this rom. What a shame but at least I have 5.1 now.
Hmm I suppose I'll stay at 4.2.2 till I feel like flashing 12.1 thanks for all the info. You don't have any overheating issues or random restarts right? Also how does the GPS not work well?
No overheating or random restarts. All things considered its a pretty smooth rom if just a little incomplete. I only tried using the GPS once and it came up with my location and the route for where I needed to go but when i was driving along the GLS was not updating my location. It may have been just a one time thing, idk, I havent needed to use GPS since.
Cool do you know a way to go back to stock if I don't like the cm 12.1 rom?
Hi there! So, I couldnt find the Cyanogenmod thread, so i figured this place was better than any other.
Anyway, I have an LG G4 H815 on T-Mobile and so recently I downgraded from Cyanogenmod 14 to 13 because I wasnt a fan, and ever since my mobile data has been throwing a fit. If I go back to stock LG MM it at least has some data connection, but its on "E", but if I try and go to any custom ROM it gets pissed and decided it doesnt need data and it doesnt want service half of the time. Any suggestions? Ive been working on it all day and its kinda really super frustrating. Thanks!!
