Backing up using Activ Synch or any other method before WM6 ROM upgrade

Hi Guys,
is there any safe way to backup everything, data and programs. I looked up ACtivsynch, but backup/restore does not exist for 8525??
Is the the best way here to copy all data using Explore option and re-install all programs?
Backup via ActiveSync is not available for all devices using WM5 or WM6. More about backing up the device can be found here. Backups using commercial backup apps usually are not capable of ROM upgrade (Only Sprite Backup can do it and it is not working 100% for all ROMs). You can however save your PIM data (contacts, SMS, eMails...) using freeware PIM backup.

Backup app

Is there a backup application that backs up GPRS settings and Java apps?
I managed to do some of this using Sprite Backup. It restores GPRS settings, but clears out the passwords to connect to internet. It also restored the Java app I need, but it doesn't launch.

App data for backup/restore

Hi there,
Its the first time that i've had a Samsung phone, coming from iPhone > HTC ONE X > SN2.
i havent put in a MicroSD card yet, as its on its way to me soon.
So i presume that all the app that i downloaded from play store is stored on the OS memory?
In this case how can i put my whatsapp backups to? so that it can detect it and restore accordingly?
also need to do the same thing for my SMS & Call log apps.
help~
Use titanium backup to backup the files. Install TB on your new device and backup one thing (a single one you want). This will create a titaniumbackup in your root of the sd card.
In your old device search for the same folder and copy all the files there. Paste the in the new folder created on ur n7100.
Now, if you launch TB you should see the backups there, simply restore first only app and after only data. Thats it.
Don't forget to say thanks if this post helped you.

Youre telling the Root way to the dude...he isnt rooted, or may not want to root.
@OP: you will have to put the backups to /sdcard/whatsapp/databases
And for sms backup and restore, there is an app SMS Backup and Restore from Market. You can use thay
My contact was on google accounts, so they came back with sync
For call logs, SMS and MMS, i use MyBackup PRO or Titanium Backup (very useful, but not a very friendly app and root needed)
For apps, i use again MyBackup PRO or Titanium Backup, but if the phone is not root, you can't restore apps setting along with the app. And even with root, some games setting can't be restored. It's the case with all my Gameloft Game, i restore game, setting and even the big game data folder, but when i start the game, it's an all new game that start
It's really a pity there is no standard backup and restore app in Android, and that you must root your phone to do such a useful task But yeah, Android is for geek

[Q] General backup-restore question

This question is not Nexus 7 specific, but I am using a Nexus 7 so here it goes:
I have been using App Backup Restore by Infolife LLC to backup and restore my android applications.
This works well especially if you need to do a factory reset or if you need to copy applications to another phone.
However the backup process only saves the application's installation packages and not the data, eg if you are using MapFactor Navigator or Google Translate, both of which have 100s of MB of data, you will end up having to re-download all that data again.
Of course every application is different and stores and uses its data in its own way, so a generic Backup/Restore application would not know what extra data files to save and restore.
However it may be that Android provides an API for application backup and restore so that a generic Backup/Restore application maybe written that will successfully backup not only the applications but also their data.
Do you know if such an API or if such an intelligent Backup/Restore application already exists?
Thanks

Titanium Backup Pro Not Recognizing Backup Files

I recently had to wipe CM14 since it was buggy. I went back to CM13 but I lost all my apps. I installed TB Pro and I want to do a full restore of all my apps and data. I found the right directory in the preferences but TB is not listing the apps for which I have a backup. The backup files are encrypted. I also have a copy saved to a cloud storage service but the 2.5gb of data is always on my phone.
I can't figure out how to restore to the same phone with the same OS and the same device ID. Help!
RESOLVED. I had a filter selected! Duh....
