This has been frustrating for me.
Been playing arround for hours to get TOM TOM 3 working with my Xda2's.
Can't seem to get the Bluetooth GPS Recevier to work properly.
I have paired the device.
I can see the GPS OUTPUT service however there is nothing incoming on both fronts.
Am i missing something or can any1 help.
Have you installed the 3.07 update from Tomtom?
Apparently this is required to get it to run properly on the XDAIIs
I wouldnt know yet as I'm still using an old Ipaq - waiting till I get paid before I buy a gps mount and use that with my new Xda
You can try so: launch navigator 3; go to GPS (clicking between Status and Log); on top you must see: TomTom Wireless GPS and Bluetooth Serial Port COM6, and the little square signed. So, the two devices would be connected.
A fix
Thanks for the last comment. It seems like it works with the COM6 port.
Ok guys
I am turning to you guy's as there seems to be so many knowledgeable people on here.
I have had a Compact III which I am very happy with which shipped with copilot live for sat nav duties which I am again more than happy with.
Now here's the problem I would also like to use GPS tuner for off road navigation however I have been unable to get GPS tuner to connect to the internal GPS it just hangs the whole phone and I have to remove the battery etc. to get going again.
I have searched Google the GPS tuner site etc. and they all agree that there is a problem with the HTC phones and the internal GPS.
I have tried to use a port splitter by Jan but they say about manually allocating COM4 but when I try to do this it is not shown in the splitter drop list nor can I manually write in the box.
Is anyone here aware of the internal GPS problem on the Artemis and how I may solve the problems.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi friends
Since about 2 months I can no longer get gps fix with my HTC Desire. My 2 year old kids love it as much as I do, but unfortunelly they let it drop in the ground too often.
I'm afraid that the gps antenna is damaged, because the fact is that the gps really isn't working anymore.
A few years ago I used a windows mobile 5 phone with TomTom, and it accepted an external bluetooth antenna as wel as the integrated gps module.
Unfortunelly, TomTom is not suported on android. Do you know any android navigation software that accepts a bluetooth external antenna so that I can keep using my desire as a gps device?
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
are you sure it's the antenna's fault? Maybe some settings are off (i.e. you're turning on 3G instead of GPS?). What sort of external antenna do you want to plug into it?

Hi
I´m not sure if the problem is really the antenna, but for sure it is not about the settings. I have this phone for about 1,5 years, so I know what to turn on.
Have already made factory settings and reconfigurated everything.
I know that the old phones without gps modules could be bluetotth paired with an external gps antenna. At least the TomTom supported this option. The question is to know if any android navigation software supports it now.

I found some very usefull information here:

Already ordered the gps bluetooth antenna. I will post the results later.

I update my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to Android 4.3. Sometimes the WiFi goes off without reason and it was not possible to switch on WiFi or Bluetooth. I found that this was caused by two of my Bluetooth devices. I had to go outside out of range of Bluetooth devices and then switch Bluetooth on and then delete pairing I had in the phone (since previous Android 4.1.2 version). Hope it helps somebody as I'm not alone as I saw when digging through Internet forums.
BTW: WiFi & Bluetooth share the same chip, so it seems like a bug in Bluetooth kernel driver or library that manage Bluetooth connections. THERE IS NO NEED TO FLASH ANYTHING!
My girlfriend has something called FreeStyle Libre 2 which is a device to monitor glucose (diabetes). This communicates via bluetooth to the phone if there is any problem. Alarms are disabled because it can't make a proper bluetooth communication with the phone.
When we bought it 2 months ago, it was working somehow, perhaps working the majority of the day and then at night (when you really need it), it stops working. I believe an update to MIUI made it works even less.
So now we have a new phone that doesn't really work for us.
Could a new rom / kernel make it better? Or the BT chip sucks? I read something about BT / wifi issues.
Thanks.
