[HELP] Skipping music through Bluetooth - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
This is a common issue and i think its not really related to LG G3, but maybe some people who own this phone solved that problem.
I had 3 phones LG G2/Oneplus One/ now LG G3, used android versions form 4.4.2 to 5.1.1, and 3 kind of bluetooth headphones of 3 companies. So the conlusion is that [email protected] is problematic when you play music wirellesly from your phone memory (not streaming online). It constantly drops out/stutter/skipps. Sometimes i must say it may play fluently for day, sometimes in exact places where i live it skipping like hell.
Has anybody managed to find the solution to this issue ?

is a lollipop issue but not all devices have this problem. my lg g3 with fusiongsm v5 has it but my moto e 2015 stock 5.1.1 does not.

No,it is not. You're wrong. Its problem of KitKat Lolipop as well as new Marshmellow which in fact has those skips even more annoying than in previous OS versions.
Im running LG G4 @ Android M and its skipping like crazy.
This problem with skips is insane. Unresolved issue for like 2 years now

Funny as I asked around about a similar thing that happens with me...
It's the same thing, except that it happens with normal earphones...
Apparently, the combination: Class 4 SdCard+ Flac+ Stock Rom, results in stuttering, while not as bad as you guys have with Bluetooth, it's still quite annoying, which proves to me how LG is horrible at Software Optimizing.
Now that I bought an Class 10 it stopped, but still skips when using Viper...
Now, the BT problem, are you guys playing song on a car system?
I remember when I owned an S4 it skipped only when Audio Tunneling was on. Disabling it on Build Prop worked, but there's no Audio Tunneling line on our Build Prop? I guess?

G4, too!
I've had my G4 for nearly 2 years, and it does this constantly!! It's a problem with stored music or audiobooks. I thought it was a connection problem with my Plantronics BT headset until I got a new car with BT speakers, and it does it in the car, too. Streaming is fine, but I don't have the data allowance for that. I've got a 64gb class 10 mini sd in it, which doesn't seem to help with it at all. Go figure.
Has anybody EVER figured out a solution to this?

Bluetooth A2DP stutter cuts out while streaming music

I have noticed since I upgraded from GS3 to Note 3 that when I am streaming music to my car stereo the audio will skip or stutter. The song continues to play but the audio cuts out for anywhere up to a second or two. Has anyone else seen this or resolved it?
I have seen some posts that say turning off WiFi fixed it but I still get the skip, if a little less frequently with WiFi turned off.
It seems to go away if I set the developer options to keep the screen awake while charging. So it seems like the CPU clock may be too low during sleep to maintain everything else it is doing as well as audio streaming.
Any feedback is appreciated, thanks!
This happens to me too sometimes. It seems worse when I first start streaming & then it calms down a bit. But it still occasionally skips. I experienced this on my note 2 as well though, so I don't think its an exclusive issue to the N3.
This is happening 4 or 5 times per song, so it is quite annoying LOL

Stock ROM? Stock Kernel? Need more info from both of you.
Sounds like the CPU might be dropping too low when the screen is off, causing the stuttering. You could try a custom kernel with a higher screen off frequency.
Used to happen on my S2 and this was the problem...

Full stock, I believe that is the problem as it is pretty much resolved when I leave the screen on. Still testing this here and there to be sure.
This has happened to me on every rom & kernel I've tried. Which is pretty much all of them for the N3, and everything from stock to CM on the N2.

I have the same problem on my GN3 international version and yes leaving the screen on WILL solve it. However, that's not a practical solution.
Try this, download Poweramp, go into settings, audio, advanced tweaks, set the audio buffer size to Large (+250ms) and audio thread priority to +2
See if that works for you. If it does, then buy the full version even though I like the timbre effect and bass on the stock music player but this is the only solution, so far.

What headunit? I run Kenwood KDC-X995, and never had an issue with it cutting out. THe headunit wouldn't display track info though. The way I fixed this is connecting via the Stock Samsung media player., Everything has been a dream since
I had this problem and it just went away after a few reboots and some time. ..

BTW, what player are y'all using? In power amp there is an option for keep service awake if music.stops while.playing with screen off. And there is also option to use a wake lock also. I am not having any problems nor have I ever so I can't help. The only other suggestion I have is maybe your radio Bluetooth sucks. I went through a period of testing many Bluetooth headset and receivers a couple years ago. Needed something good to listen to my music while I rode my bike. Many of the Bluetooth I tested were very sensitive to the bumps and vibration while riding hard on my mountain bike. The only solution for those were to put receiver right next to my phone. Being in my pocket was too far away or something. I ended up sticking with Sony mw600 as all purpose. It could take any headset, and I was able to use it as a receiver in my truck as it didn't have Bluetooth. Now I also have a Honda civic with built in Bluetooth and all is well. My Sony mw600 oled stopped working though so in on lookout for a nice apt x receiver.

I am using a Sony DSX-S300BTX and have had no previous issues with my HTC Sensation 4G or my Galaxy S3. It only started when I got my Note 3. I use Google Play Music with the All Access service.
Just an update on this. Over the weekend I did a factory reset and this time I did not let it restore settings and apps from my Google account. I went through and installed all the same apps i was using before. And so far I have only noticed 1 stutter/cut out since then. And if I am correct, this only happened when I was leaving my house and it switched from Wifi to 4G LTE on the stream.
Will continue to monitor and see if the issue comes back. But so far I am rather happy.

I came from the Note 2 to the Note 3 and I'm fearing that it's 4.3 that is causing the bluetooth intermittent issue. Whether or not I stream from Pandora or my music player, I get the stutter. Doesn't matter what ROM I use between hyperdrive and beans too. Someone said it could be the adblock that is causing the stutter but I don't have that installed at all. Getting pretty frustrating.
Ended up not working for me,...but keeping the screen on did seem to eliminate the skipping.
Wonder if there's anyway to force Bluetooth not to sleep,....

I ONLY get the stutter when using the stock music player. It never happens when using, for example, TuneIn Radio.
I exchanged 2 Note 3's. The first one had the stutter problem so I returned it. The second one had NO stutter problems but overheated from time to time, exchanged as well. The third one doesn't over heat but, unfortunately, has the stutter problem. So, I just gave up. The PowerAmp solution works for me, though.

Sorry to hear it didn't work for you.
Someone mentioned increasing the minimum CPU frequency and that would solve it. Try upping it to 400Mhz see what happens but this will definitely drain your battery more than usual.

The same thing happened to me on the note 2.... actually the n3 isn't as bad as the n2 was. Fwiw
sent from my ??????? note 3?
SO I have started to notice that it isn't actually the stream stuttering, but a short disconnect of the bluetooth. I noticed that when the music cuts out, it also drops the media connection to my car stereo, in that the artist and song title disappear until the connection comes back. Seems like a bad bluetooth stack or something as I tested a Nexus 5 and do not have this issue at all. And I never had a problem on my GS3.
Hopefully the 4.4.2 update will resolve this issue. Whenever that may be...
I have this problem as well, (stock rom rooted, stock kernel) I use power amp. now however I cant stream my music through bluetooth at all, but when a call comes in, it streams. Doing a little digging into my phone, my N3 seems to think im in a call, and only plays my music through the speaker for your ear. it only started a few hours ago. even when I am not connected to bluetooth, it still plays music through the same speaker. tried uninstall reinstall. I did update apps earlier when I got home (ove wifi). once they were done, that seems to be when this issue started.
any help/suggestions?

Bluetooth headphones weird behavior

Hi guys, here is the problem that for some reason popped just recently, started maybe 2 weeks ago or so. I'm using Jay bird blue buds x as my main wireless headphones with my tab s. Everything was working fine but now whenever I connect the headphones and either start listening to music, music player or Google play music, or listen to a video clip, be it from YouTube, gallery or Google play video, the headphones cut out after 30-60 seconds. Now I did test the headphones with other tablet, an Asus one, and with my audio setup I use with my pc and I can use them without any problems for hours at a time. Which kinda led me to a conclusion that it's not the headphones but the tab itself. Now my question is, did anyone experience something similar? Any chance it's a Bluetooth driver mixup of some sorts that came with most recent tab update? Any help would be appreciated. I'm running complete stock with the most recent update, with just a couple of apps "turned off" in application section.
Jaybirds work with stock and skyhigh kernel.

Well, my Samsung HS3000 Bluetooth headphones work w/o a problem, but I just encountered an issue with a bluetooth gamepad I bought. It started to lag every 30s - 2 minutes for like 10 seconds and than worked normally again. On the Nexus 7 of my girlfriend it worked for hours w/o a problem. I ended up factory resetting and updating to a newer firmware only to find out (just now) that one of my apps with accessibility access is responsible, probably Tasker or some of its modules / plugins.
Since your issue sounds a bit similar, you might want to investigate in that direction.

Galaxy Note 3 audio popping issues when recording video\audio

Long time lurker here but this is my first thread. I've only read one other thread about this issue on here, but there were absolutely no replies, so I thought I'd give it a shot.
I've had Tmobile's Galaxy Note 3 since around the time it launched. Since day one, I've noticed that it has an annoying issue when recording video or audio alone. The audio will have horrible popping\crackling noises no matter how still the phone is held. This should obviously never happen with a high-end phone such as this. The issue is somewhat random, but it ALWAYS occurs and it seems to go away as the video recording app runs for a while. I always try to record a couple small clips first, then use it for the main video, but this is insanely annoying to do and isn't always practical (especially if you decide you want to record something very quickly out of the blue).
I'm actually still running JB 4.3, which is what the device shipped with at launch. I'm rooted and have everything set-up exactly how I want it. All my other apps work flawlessly, which is why I've been hesitant to upgrade (even though there are plenty of FW updates available, including Lollypop). I plan on flashing the stock version of Lollypop in the near future and then re-rooting the device. But this audio issue appears to be a hardware problem because it occurs regardless of the recording app I use. Has anyone found a way around this issue, or at least a workaround of some sort? I can't believe a phone this popular has such a horrible audio issue and none of the big reviews mentioned it at all. This leads me to believe not every device is affected, although a Google search does confirm I'm not alone.
I would appreciate any advice at all. Thanks.
So it appears I just have bad luck and got stuck with a faulty handset... This doesn't appear to be a widespread issue but I know some others have experienced it. I just wish there was some way around it. Guess I'll have to wait til I can upgrade to a different handset. I know one thing... I'm going to test the recording feature at the store before I drop my cash on it. This is the most ridiculous issue I've ever witnessed with such a high end smartphone. What good is it to record 4K video when you have terrible audio popping\crackling noises in the background?
I've had a Note 3 for Verizon for about 2 years and never had the issue, but recently got a Note 4 and it does have the audio popping in recorded video and when using the voice recorded.
Well I just finally flashed lollipop to my Note 3 (had still been on stock JB 4.3 since everything was working good for me rooted with the Xposed framework and all my favorite modules) and of course it didn't make a bit of difference. The audio popping is still there, confirming it's hardware related and only certain handsets are affected. Lollipop is nice but I'm bummed that the Xposed framework still doesn't support it with a stable version, which means tons of modules I loved using are no longer available to me.
Anyway I think I'm gonna save some scratch and upgrade to the Note 4. I mainly just want to upgrade to get rid of the audio popping during video recording because it is SEVERELY annoying and unacceptable on a flagship device. The pops are HORRIBLE. I like the Note 5 and all but I really want a removable battery, so I think trading in my Note 3 and getting a Note 4 is the best bet, but like I said before I'm actually gonna force Tmobile to let me test the video recording feature in the store just to make sure it doesn't have this issue. Actually, you can just use the audio recorder to check for it. it's present when you use ANY app that records via the mic's. Such a shame that I didn't notice this earlier so I could have exchanged my model for one without the issue.
Note 3, Android 5.0 - When recording any type of audio: the audio in a video clip, the voice recorder app, whatsapp voice message... all have a popping sound/click that occurs every 5 seconds. A fraction of the audio recording is "jumped over" and then continues fine for the next 5 seconds. This continues every 5 seconds throughout the whole recording.

Bluetooth streaming issue/ suttering

When I connect Bluetooth to my car and try to stream music it start stuttering/ skipping like crazy, every second or so. I've tried it with multiple apps, Spotify, play music and YouTube same effect. Seems like Bluetooth can't handle the bandwidth. Never had this problem with my Nexus 5.
Anyone else have this issue?

It's been working great for me. Tried it with my VW Passat, Bose Soundlink Mini, and another Bluetooth speaker. No skipping or audio delays noticed. Usually playing Play Music, YouTube, or iHeartRadio.

It hasn't been as bad a you describe but I have noticed some stuttering. Not enough to ruin my experience, though.
I got phone on 10-21. I stream Pandora all day in my work truck to a jbl change 2+ and have my bt ear piece for calls connected all day. I have not had one issue
Mine did it the first time I ever used it in my car, and it was unbearable. After day one though, the issue self resolved and I had no problems. I actually noticed it first using navigation over bt
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Yep. I got this several times. Turning off/on Bluetooth was the only way to fix. Not ideal when doing 70 on the motorway.
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Same problem here, it makes bluetooth unbearable in my car. ONLY my car, as I don't have any stuttering on other bluetooth devices. Never had a problem on my Nexus 5, only the 5X.
Edit:
For clarity, I am full stock, not rooted or unlocked
I'm having the same issues. It seems the worst when I have Waze running while beyondpod is playing. I don't have guidance enabled, so Waze shouldn't be playing audio.
After streaming for a few days, I don't have this problem anymore. Weird, but I'm glad it's working now. Try what someone posted earlier, just turn off and turn on Bluetooth.

That didn't solve my issue. Rebooting the phone did, however. There must be a memory leak.
There is a issue opened on the Google code page. I'm not skilled enough with adb to capture the logcat. I am not allowed to post links so just add

I experienced some stuttering over bluetooth in my toyota camry. Will test it further.
I could not reproduce the stuttering issues again until today when I was streaming music it decided to stutter as I read an email. Rebooted phone and it was fine.
Up the thread.
I just bought bluetooth earphones, I thought they were defective, so I replace them, but i got always the same problem, the sound is stuttering. And after some seconds, it simply goes blank, no sound at all. :/
I tested them on other smartphones and tablet, and they are working great.
I also noticed that if i put the nexus 5x really closed to the earphones (1 cm), it's working nice.
I contact Google, but they kept saying i have to contact the earphones manufacturer (Aukey). But it's clearly a bug with the phone.
There is just one thing I didn't try yet. It's to wipe the phone and flash the last android image (i read somewhere some guys fixed their problem doing this, where ota updates didn't).
Anybody got information or solution?
Thanks

Bluetooth music stutter

I've had some stutter with music playback through my bluetooth speakers. I have 3 and it happens with all of them. I have a subscription to Spotify and noticed it there. I tried Play Music and it stuttered too. I put a few albums on the phone to see if that made a difference but it didn't. It's not bad, just here and there but enough of a problem that I'm not going to put up with it. I did a reset but that didn't help. If it's a bad phone, I'll return it. I would think if others have had a problem I'd see someone commenting on it. Has anyone listened to music via bluetooth and had either an occasional stutter or a smooth experience? I've used the speakers with my Moto X and they've been good so I know they are ok. I appreciate any comments. I love the phone but need my BT tunes.
I've never used Bluetooth and have not had an issue here or there. It happens with every device out there. It comes with the territory of using Bluetooth.

I have to disagree, my xperia z3 was awful for this. So far I have not had any issues with my Pixel XL and I use it for my 1 hour commute twice a day aswell sporadically throughout the evenings/weekend. Could range be an issue for you? or perhaps a crowded 2.4GHz band?
I have the same issue. I just assumed it was the crappy headphones I use. It happened on the 6p I had. Seems it happens mostly when I put my hand on the glass window like I'm causing interference

Thanks for the reply, my phone is a few feet from the speaker and there is a stutter every few minutes. I'm at home, not a lot of network traffic. Apparently not a problem with others judging by the lack of comments. Thanks again.
If you have any xmas lights or similar (we have decorative LEDs) close to your speakers or between your phone and the speakers these can have an affect. I had to move my WiFi hub last Christmas as the Xmas tree was causing havoc!

Listening to music on BT headphones.
I've got a Huawei watch attached over BT. As long as I don't add a 3rd device playback is fine for me.
If I add a 3rd device, typically either a Mac or PC (e.g. Surface) then every 30 seconds or so there will be a stutter. Even though those devices aren't sending audio, there is enough chatter to cause an issue.
Yep - BT audio skips with my BT headset and 3 different BT speakers. All of these BT devices worked perfectly with previous phones, and I listen to music quite a bit, so it's truly a accurate comparison.
I have contacted Google and they have only suggested the most obvious things - none of which had any affect. Tossing cache, tossing all pairing and re-pairing. Latest was a Factory Data Reset and I just don't have the time for that now. Other Pixel owners report that same BT issues - some with pairing (which I don't have) and skipping/dropping signal.
I've found that 2 of the 3 speakers I have stutter, the ue seems to be OK. My son's Pixel had the same issue so it's not a bad phone. I guess I need to decide if I'm going to put up with it or not.
A cheap chromecast audio would fix this for you
I've noticed similar issue. Bluetooth stuttering. S7 never did it. Pixel xl does. Reboot phone fixes it for a while.
Might be Spotify memory leak. Not tested if Google Play also does it but will test that.
Same issue here with the bluetooth in my car
I have noticed the same problem a couple times, I cannot pin it down. I though it was the speaker, which is a fairly cheap one. I will test it more and see if I can find a pattern?
I just think BT for Android needs to be worked on. Same behavior on Nexus devices.
As someone pointed out a while ago, turning off wifi seems to stop the stutter. That causes you to keep an eye on your data use though. Hoping for a fix.
I will try that but I stream music a lot, that would seem to run up a lot of data.

Yea, that's not a very good solution.
My old headphones were BT4.0. the new ones I just got are 4.1. so far my newer ones dont stutter when I cover the glass. I still get some stutter here and there but i think that's just interference.
I have not experienced any issues with stutter or connectivity when streaming to my Lexus GS and paired to my LG watch - while using GPS/Navigation/Waze. I came from the HTC 10 which had MAJOR issues with this combination.
