If she has logged in with some ID or facebook, her data would be backed up on the servers and once you install those games on another phone, it will automatically pick the progress once logged in with the same ID.
Other way is to take a backup via PC or via mobile (if rooted) and then use backed up APK to install the games/apps. this will not ensure the data restore though.

Dropbox App For Xperia1

Hey Guys,
First off thanx for all the hard work yall put into all this!
I'm no programmer myself and really like to see 1 app for the xperia that i use daily. Maybe you already heard of Dropbox.com. It's a site/app wich creates a virtual hd on your desktop. By logging in with email and password you can then get whatever files you need from the virtual disk.
Now there's a iphone app but no windows mobile app. I've mailed these guys about it but they don't respond and it seems as if they won't make a app for us.
Is somebody with sparetime willing to take a look at this and maybe create a titanium panel for it or an seperate app? Would be so helpfull with my work!
Ofcourse if it's a lot of trouble i will donate some
Ow and why should this be wonderfull for all you wm6.5 users to? Because my friend has an iphone. He has a dropbox created with alot of music and movies in it.
You get two gb free and for ten bucks a month you get 10 gb. This means you can travel anywhere and just log in with the app and play a movie or mp3 you placed
in the virtual hd at home on your desktop!

Migrating from Desire to Desire HD - advice & suggestions pls.

Hi all. I'm considering getting a Desire HD in the new year. But before I make the final decision I'd like to find out what would be involved in migrating my apps & data etc from my current Desire.
Thanks in advance.
Sent from my HTC Desire
I suppose it all depends on if the HD has been rooted by then and if you could use Titanium Backup?
You could maybe use Appbrain to make a list of your apps installed on your Desire and then login to Appbrain on the HD and install the apps from there?
Your phone numbers and email addresses should be saved in your Gmail account, and will be imported when you set up the device.
No plans to root any of my phones at present

Thanks StuMcBill perhaps I should have added I don't intend to root any phone that I have or intend to purchase in the near future.
I was under the impression that my app purchases/installs were stored somewhere linked to my Google account. With this in mind if I had another phone with the same Google account, when I logged in to the Marketplace my phone would display my apps albeit not installed yet.
I can see why that might not work though.
Do I really need to root one or both phones and then buy/install and use a 3rd party app to migrate to a new phone...?
Your app purchases are recorded so once you log in on the HD it will download them but it doesn't know your download history. As said contacts will be dragged on if u use Google contacts (best way of doing it if you ask me). Things like SMS/MMS can't be backed up/migrated without rooting AFAIK

I'd say wait for Q1 2011... and Tegra 2 porcessors from Nvidia.
The HTc desire HD is still in the same playground than the n1 ..htc desire and others...
Desire vs Desire HD
To add to the conversation: Desire HD is a Desire, but with a bigger screen. That's obvious, but the equation is purely between:
*bigger screen
*less quality screen
From what I've seen, it's not worth switching in terms of price and screen quality vs bigger screen.
Indeed, I'll await new candy with serious power (as if the Desire doesn't have power enough). And yes, bigger screens with superb quality
It's not *only* the screen difference.
HD has much larger internal memory
HD has (much probably) better CPU/GPU
etc.

Thx EddyOS. I think that caps it. With regards to download history are you referring to browser or app marketplace?
I store my contacts in a couple of places but not primarily on Google - so that's less of an issue. BTW I back up my texts using an app called SMS Backup. Sends everything to a folder on gmail.

I delete SMSs as soon as they're read, and archive emails as soon as they're read...don't like clutter

Android Sync Manager WiFi. Transfer files cant be that easy.

Hey guys I just wanted to share it for those of you who didnt know about it.
Its called Android Sync Manager WiFi and its free on the market.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mobileaction.AmAgent&hl=es&rdid=com.mobileaction.AmAgent&rdot=1&pli=1
When do you need to use it? When you dont want to use dropbox for example and you are wifi-covered ( it takes a hell long to upload a file to the cloud and then push it to your device). This one just transfer the file directly to your device. Its very fast and intuitive to use.
It helped me a lot ( I was travelling and I forgot to take the usb cable with me, so I used this program to transfer a CM9 rom to my phone in about 2 minutes ).
Hope it helps somebody.
Works pretty good.
but it is a trial version !!

Save apps to PC and access wide range of application on Play Store

Hello All...How have you been..!!
This might seem to be a duplicate post, but I thought of sharing the information to collate all the processes to save APKs from the market place as well as to get access to wide range of applications on the play store to which we ACE user don't have access..
Well found two processes...
1. For Custom Rom lovers, it is a regular heck to download all the application from market place after each format.. or get the apks from some third party site... So why not back up all the APKs from Play Store itself...
For that I found an awesome application on XDA called REAL APK LEECHER... which allows one to save the apks straight away to their PC and also scan for any updates..
The steps to do so can be found here..
But now there is a loop hole ... you can only download the apps compatible to your device model (corresponding to the Device ID)..
Now the trick though a stupid one...
Simpler way :: Ask your friend having a high end model to add your gmail ID to his/her device... and then access Play Store for at least once.. Take his/her Device id (using *#*#8255#*#*) You are done.. Remove the account... Register the device id/gmail Acc on APK leecher and access most of the apps..
But your friend might not allow to share his/her device ID, what to do now...
Harder way :: Google for some Random Device ID ... Use some app on the play store to change your device ID... Download at least one app from play store... You can again access all the apks using the above process..
2. Well found another application... This is the best.. though it is not free... is the Device Spoofer app...
Spoof you device to any given model... Download as many apps possible..
These helped me... I guess might help some one else too...
I download apps & each time they get updated, I send them to my another phone using bluetooth file transfer & then save them to pc. Much easier right ?

The process seems to be useful for users like me who have slow & limited data usage plans.. Moreover updates done over PC..
Rest the Device Spoofer is an awesome app.. Now i have access to almost all the apps on play store...

It's nice that you can be linked to apps that your device doesn't support remotely but the process seems to be quite complicated and not everyone has a friend willing to share their gmail stuff...

Thats true enough... But the APK Leecher rocks...
N i would suggest everyone to try out the device snoofer... Simply awesome and easy 2 use...

Looking for some thoughts on the 8s

Hello,
I consider changing my good old galaxy s. I'm wondering whether I should stick with Android or move towards windows phone. I wanted to know from users is it worth it? I read that there is am issue with the memory, currently on my galaxy I have about 700 mb full of apps, I don't play games or use navigation other than google maps on rare occasions. Will the storage suffice for that? How big are windows phone apps?
Is 512 mb enough? Does the phone lag with it? What are its advantages/disadvantages over the Nokia Lumia 620?

Don't bother the phone is awful
Hi,
I've had the 8S for 4 months now and bought it as my main comms. device and to develop apps on.
It has too many weaknesses:
* Can't use many (>5) apps (e.g. Facebook) on it before running out of memory.
* Can only store apps and their data on internal memory (4gb).
* Is laggy on anything but the most basic app... certainly not suitable for testing apps or playing games.
* Zune on the PC no longer recognises or syncs with Windows Phone 8 devices.
Synchronisation of media is now convoluted and involves:
- Beta software from Microsoft's combined with iTunes or PC Zune OR
- Buy third party software (e.g. MediaMonkey) OR
- PC Zune and Windows Media Player (ugh!).
Miscellaneous problems:
* I installed a class 10 32Gb SD card and found you can't fill with more than half its capacity before phone slows to a crawl on media apps and complains about running out of memory on the 4gb internal... presumably due to temporary or journal files in the 4gb.
* Phone keeps switching to roaming even though I'm still in my country of origin and stops data services unless you explicitly activate data roaming, meaning a risk of additional charges if you travel.
* Lock-up and random reboots, every couple of days.
I prefer Windows Phone 8 as an OS, but it seems to me we've reached another VHS / Betamax moment in history where Android will become the preferred operating system if the 8S is typical of the sort of device Microsoft gets their operating systems onto.
If you've any sense, stay away from this awful phone.

I will stay with Android I guess, I wanted to try windows phone on a mid end device, before going to some of the flagships. I read many bad reviews online about the general performance of windows phones.

I feel I should weigh in with my experience of the phone and OS. I run the following without issues (other than the various app bugs that exist in each app):
textPlus
Whatsapp
Facebook
Twitter
Tumblr
Skype
2degrees Mobile App
HTC Weather & Clock App
5 GMail accounts, Contacts & Calenders on Push & 7 Day Email Storage
Box.net App
Game: Carcassone
Game: Angry Birds
Game: Plants vs Zombies
10GB of music on SD Card
Everything listed Email and above is on constantly in the background with Live Tiles and Push Notifications enabled. I have 280mb of internal space left after a month of this configuration, no reboots and no freezes. My only issue with games is Carcassone auto backgrounding itself and kicking me to XBL Game app but this is an app issue, not a phone one - I can immediately resume it.
The HTC 8S is not a power user phone, it's designed to be used as a connectivity device. If you just want to use it in a similar fashion to me then you will be fine (though you will have to uninstall some games to make space for OTA updates when they drop - you need 500mb after all)
In regards to the OS, I left a flagship droid device to come to this phone because the OS performs better and is far more stable and reliable as a phone. A lot of WP reviews are written by Droid or iOS lovers, or people who only played with the phone for a few hours. The OS works differently to iOS and Droid, and a lot of them cannot handle that - it's like when people complain all MMOs are not WoW, or all FPS games are not COD. I suggest you go to a store and try one instead of reading reviews
