Using NFC To Start A Screen Mirror Miracast Session - NFC Hacking

Hi all.
The Nokia HD-10 and other devices allow a screen mirror session to be started by taping and from what i have read this appears to be standard any phone can use.
That said ive spent ages to find out what the tag is so i can program my own.
Has any others looked at this before and if so do you know the tag details ?
Thanks
Terran

I am replying as this would be a feature I would love to use on my Droid Maxx. I am hoping a reply will bump this and potentially get a helpful response.

SE PlayNow site down, what now? Any clues?

Hello,
since a few weeks now the SE website and phone links (that are built in by SE) cannot connect to the SE Server anymore. At least for the Xperia X1 and X2.
Anybody knows a way to connect to them? The wap.se site comes up with "Old device....forget about it". So that is a no go.
I would want some panels and also the WATERLEVEL java program for the X2.
That one is for TouchScreen. The 2 different ones floating around on the internet are for older devices.
Also, I would like to get some games and panels for the X1 too.
Perhaps somebody has those jar/jad files for the waterlevel for X2???
Thanks in advance.
What about using google? It took me at least 30 seconds to google what you are asking for. I mean it's not that hard

or http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/corporate/products/phoneportfolio/specification/xperiax2
Are you trying to be funny or plain ignorant?
How about you read my post again and if you have anything useful, like a solution to the questions there.... let me and the rest of us know.
But don't put up some .... google crap that gives specs of the phones. Dude, I have them both and know the specs!
Waste of time

I'm also looking into panels but I can not find them.
If you know anything you can tell me?
Here is a Thread with Panels they are confused in the posts. You have to read every post. But that was something I found.
Good Luck finding the right Panel for X1
Here are both version: one for WinMo with accelerometer and the second for WaterLevel jar/jad

Searching xda

Hi
Now don't take this the wrong way, but... Searching your forums is a headache!
OK if I wanted to find out something generic as rooting an Android phone, before posting one should search to see if it has been already posted, not a problem. Using the Google custom search you get 2.6 million results in no particular order, the 1st ten can range from 3 years ago to yesterday (most results do not show date) (results give very little info) so it is a bit of a lottery finding a relevant thread.
Using "Search this Forum" is all very well and good, but for one thing. Searching for "rooting an Android phone" from what can see is, that it can be found in a least 4 separate Forums...
So what's all the gripe about? Well back in the days of 486's & P1's myself and 2 others designed and implemented a search engine for the Royal Navy's internal Forum. The Forum being as large as xda's if not larger, displayed results: Forum Name, Title of Thread, Date and 1st two lines of thread as your basic search with option of advanced criteria.
It was simple and idiot proof and can be found in use all over the internet.
So to cap it off, one search engine displaying results in date order for entire Forum. Simples...

To be honest next time add in your device name. This is due to rooting an Android device depends on the device. I use the FF search plug in and my always defaults to the newest post. But I do agree I thing the plugin should be updated

Is there any way to search for a phrase together? Like "tell if I am root". The search results are always for the individual words, not the whole phrase, however I've tried it (quotes single and double, +'s, ANDs). I've also often found that search engines (I don't use Google) give more relevant results, even though they're all on XDA-developers.

Not that I know of. The Firefox search plug in is limited but better then the built in search engine lol.
Is that a real question you have?
Thanks for confirming what I thought.

No, I was pretty sure I was right but wanted to check 100% before "helping" someone with that question.

Can do most of that, just change order to "last posting date". And pick your device obviously from the subforum list
As of today, there isn't even an option to search the forums at all...

can s-voice speak text for confirmation instead of visual preview?

Hi.
S-voice seems to work more accurately for my "accent" than google's program so I've had a decent success rate with it for daily use this last week.
That said, I cannot tell whether this feature is available: when I ask it to send a text or email and give it the content, it asks me for a visual confirmation that it got the words right. is there a way to get it to speak back what I asked it to type up? I've spent last three days searching without luck, which suggests this doesn't exist yet so I'm just paying to obtain confirmation and closure.
Thank you for your time.
I found it strange it did not do this. Its almost all hands free up until this point if your using Bluetooth you have to look at your phone. Almost makes it pointless. I have not found away around it yet but I do agree it should read the text back to you.

Thanks for confirming. The one time I got google now to write a text message for me, it, too, did not repeat it outloud. Well, I just won't use that feature then, it's already gotten me in trouble with incorrect word.
I found a an application called "assistant" which sort of does it well, but it's just so.. rough. Always a compromise, isn't it?
Bummer.

new functions (Quotations, mentions etc.)

I have 2 Questions about Quoteaions/Mentions and those new functions.
1st can you make it work that the notification disappears itself when you have read the concerning thread?
2nd is there a way to turn off mentions coming from oneself?
I often write things like @New Users, and I often use the @ sign as a shortenning for at + the following space, which often results in unwanted mentions, is there a way around that?

To prevent unwanted mentions from your side, grow habit of putting up a space in @ & the user. ie. @ New User / @ op etc.
For further suggestions and queries see this threadhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240142
And your suggestions have been discussed there, may be they are working on a fix.

Just use tags:
@GermainZ => @GermainZ
they were just recently made...
I heard that an admin said to implement that but I didnt think it would come that fast...

Oh, I didn't know that. Today was the first time I tried it and it worked fine.

Making HP TouchPads usable again

I refurbish vintage PCs (Windows 98 & 2000 mostly) and occasionally purchase lots of parts from people who are cleaning out. Recently, one of these lots included a pair of working HP TouchPads. In trying to figure out what they were, I saw that WebOS is a non-starter but that some ppl had put Cyanogen on them. My problems are twofold - 1) I have zero experience with anything related to Android modifications, and 2) all the posts I saw were from years ago and concerned old versions. If they had links to how-tos, they were broken.
In looking further, I saw references to Lineage instead of Cyanogen, so I thought I'd see if anyone here could help me. Since I refurbish 15-18 year old computers every week, you can tell that I hate to see working tech scrapped, so I appreciate any help along the way.
I also have an handful of Android tablets that I got the same way, and a couple of them have issues, so I'm hoping users in other sub-forums can give me some guidance there too.
All the best...

Thanks! Since this is all new to me, should I look for the how-to stuff on that page or are there other guides that would be more appropriate?
