Hi all. I've got a Sprint Note 2 that's not active with any plan and I just want to use it as an extra mini tablet.
I want to use it for music and videos as well as for making music with Caustic. For this to work with low latency I need lollipop.
Previously the phone was rooted and was running twrp and various kitkat ROMs.
I found a version of cyanide ROM that's a tablet style rom with no mobile data or calling enable. Wifi only.
plus therebwas this Shift package that would enablenetflix to work. Great.
So i downloaded cyanide tablet version, shift and gapps. Using twrp i did a full wipe and flashed the rom and shift but gapps wouldnt flash.
So for the time being I gave up on gapps (though I will definitely need the play store to load my purchased apps.
When I tried to boot the phone it just hung at the bootup animation.
Someone suggested I use philz recvery. I flashed philz with odin and booted into recovery. Sure enough philz was working. So then i wiped again and tried to flash the cyanide rom again. This time not even worrying about gapps until i could verify that the rom would flash boot up.
Again it got stuck in the boot animation screen. I tried flashing it with odin instead of from the microsd card. Again stuck in the boot animation.
I reinstalled twrp and tried flashing with that again. Same issue.
So then I tried cw12.1. Even though netflix doesn't work on it last I checked. I wiped and flashed and again stuck in boot animation. Though this time its the cm animation. So i know the rom was at least flashed.
This i thought perhaps somehow i lost root so none of these kernels would load. So i downloaded cf autoroot and flashed with odin which said it was successful. Phone rebooted...again stuck at bootup animation.
So basically the phone is bricked. What should I do? Install stock rom with stock recovery, then root and wipe and install cyanide? Or should NOT wippe and install it? How shoud I root it, with what methos and when during the flashing sequence. Ive tried every combination I could think of

I have a real frustrating problem with my Canadian Rogers Note 3. I'm rooted and running CM11, but I was looking for a ROM that might be more stable than the nightly builds. I wanted to try a TW-based ROM so I downloaded BobCat, JediElite, and FireNote ROMs.
I copied the ROMs to the SD card, booted into CWM Recovery and tried flashing one of them (don't remember which). The installation seemed to go fine, no error messages or warnings. But when I finished and rebooted the phone just stopped at the Note 3 boot screen. No boot animation, no loading, nothing.
I went back to CWM Recovery, tried the other two ROMs, and got the exact same results. Then I tried flashing the stock Rogers Note 3 ROM. CWM refused to flash it and spat out some garbage about a corrupt zip file (re-downloaded it with the same results). I eventually gave up and restored the CM11 image I'd backed up.
At this point I began to reason maybe CWM wasn't suited to installing TW ROMs, so I decided I needed TWRP instead. Goog.Im and TWRP manager both refused to install TWRP however. So I dropped the TWRP Recovery zip on my SD card and tried flashing it using CWM.
Here’s where it gets really freaky. When my phone rebooted I got a "recovery booting" message, but the recovery never loaded. The screen just froze at the Note 3 logo. If I pulled the battery the phone would again display "recovery booting" and sit there endlessly. The only way I could break the cycle was booting to Download Mode, then exiting so it enters a normal ROM boot.
I let the phone boot up fully and then opened ROM Manager. It showed TWO recoveries installed, one CWM and one TWRP, apparently side by side. Is this even possible???
So anyway, I went back to playing around between ROM Manger, Goo.Im, and TWRP Manger, trying to re-flash it to either CWM or TWRP, but not both. Nothing worked; every time I tried booting to recovery the system would hang at the “recovery booting” message.
I eventually tired of this and decided to get out Odin. I flashed TWRP Recovery successfully (according to Odin), but it still won’t launch. I then tried flashing CWM Recovery with the same results.
So completely out of options, I tried flashing the stock Samsung Recovery. It boots just fine. So I try again flashing the custom recoveries, but they still refuse to launch. Each time I have to reinstall Samsung Recovery.
And that’s where I am currently: I have a (badly) working CM11 nightly ROM on my phone. I have the stock Samsung Recovery installed. I’m afraid to try flashing any zips using Samsung Recovery because my backup image was created using CWM, and if I can’t get CWM recovery to work I won’t be able to restore the backup.
Have I broken some law of the universe by trying to go from CWM to TWRP? Would TWRP work better with TouchWiz ROMs? And can I even install TouchWiz ROMs after hacking my phone to CM11 nightlies? Lastly, how can I get this $#@& Samsung Recovery off my beautiful phone and install a working custom recovery?
ok this is quite the story, so grab some popcorn. ok so i rooted my s4 mini(SCH-r970) and i wanted to install a custom boot. so i used flash gordon, flashed the zip from rom manager (app) the boot animation enabler for samsung, but when i rebooted the s4 mini logo booted then the screen went off in a loop on, off, on, off so then i decided to use odin to instal cwm recovery then i flashed the samsung qmg enabler from rom manager (app), didnt work. then i went to s4archives and insalled their custom boot file to get by. didnt work. i tried all these other methods like"wipe dalvik cache then wipe cache" nothing works. and now im tring to find a way to fix it.
help?
Try flashing the stock kernel from sammobile.com
Try flashing the stock kernel from sammobile.com. i have duos varient and worked pretty hard to root it (Even bricked once), but then installed stock firmware from sammobile.com and did everything more sophisticatedly.....if your phone isn't hard bricked...keep trying every method you find.
Hello all i have bricked my Samsung Galaxy tab 3
I have tried rooting but it ended up giving me a boot loop
Nothing has worked, I have tried flashing a stock ROM, it was unsuccessful, i have tried a rooted ROM, it was successful though i was still stuck in a boot loop, so i flashed Philz recovery and that worked but it didn't clear anything.
I'm currently downloading another Stock ROM and I hope it works.
I also tried adb and that didnt work either.
How can I stock recover this device.

Have you tried using Odin to return to stock? don't forget to "uncheck" auto reboot. After flash completes, shut down, then restart.
Here's a thread for using Odin to return to stock
...and wipe/format system, data, cache etc before flashing
Which version? P5220(the LTE version) P5210(wifi only version) p5200 3g version
you can try out odin, flash everything including stock rom and recovery. Start everything all over.
Hey guys,
I apologize if this has been asked and resolved a thousand times already. I've searched through this sub-forum and the threads on it didn't seem to have a solution that worked for me.
The issue: I just recently flashed CM 12 Nightly and Gapps, along with changing recovery from CWM to TWRP. I flashed TWRP via Odin, then installed CM 12 and Gapps via TWRP. I was able to get into CM 12 ONCE and it worked just fine, but when I restarted my phone after the initial flash, it now just constantly boots into TWRP.
To clarify for those that might wonder: I can get into TWRP and download mode just fine. I just...can't get beyond them.
What I've tried: I found these instructions - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21301573&postcount=3
However I can't get ADB to find my device as I can't actually boot it into the OS. If I should be going about this a different way then please let me know.
I've also tried reflashing the recovery, reflashing the ROM and Gapps, reflashing my old ROM and Gapps, wiping Dalvik, cache, and data partition (both via TWRP and Odin), pulling the battery and starting as normal, booting into download mode and then rebooting from there.
All of the above has got me no luck so far.
If any of you have any suggestions then I would be very grateful. Cheers.
I managed to get back into my phone by flashing my carrier's stock ROM via Odin, worked a treat.
Time to start again!
Hi, i'm having trouble flashing back to stock.
I've got the latest stock firmware from sammobile.
Using twrp to install it says missing META-INF as the firmware zip isn't made the same as custom firmware.
Adding the tar.md5 to ap in odin flashes the boot and recovery but goes extremely slow when it starts flashing system (left it 2 hours and it hadn't even got half way) I'm guessing that's not normal.
I took a backup with twrp before I started flashing in twrp which flashes fine but I get endless boot loop when trying to start it.
I've tried fastboot but it doesn't detect the tablet.
I've tried different usb ports, cables, different versions of odin and different stock firmware. I'm ready to throw it out the window.
One thing to note is the [P600][Touchwiz] Marshmallow Rom 20170622 works great but also boot loops when I turn it off and on again, I have to boot into twrp then choose reboot in there and then it boots ok, that doesn't work with my twrp backup though.
Anything I'm doing wrong?
Thanks.
Well for some reason after installing marshmallow rom again then installing my backup it boots fine, havn't a clue why it failed to boot the other 4 times.
Nope
Back to continuous boot loop after second reboot.
All I did was turned developer options off and it's boot looping again.
Flashed original stock boot.tar.md5 and recovery.tar.md5 then factory reset and wiped cache but still boot loops.
Is it because I flashed a Marshmallow custom rom so it so you can't downgrade to a lolipop rom even though it's stock? Boot loader changed? Kernel?

I'm not quite sure what your problem is but you should be able to downgrade, I've done it before.
Try this guide first. I've had success with it.
If all goes well you can then try to flash your stock ROM. The one I've flashed successfully in the past is the one in this post.
Good luck!
You may need to repartition your system. Tick the repartition in Odin. **All data will be lost**

Thanks, I followed the guide in that post and it flashed ok then I finally managed to flash the latest stock!
