I flashed my device with CloudyG3 a few days ago and it didnt work properly, so I went back to stock rooted. Ive been trying to completely start from factory and restore my data and try flashing everything back, but I cant figure out how to do that. I want all my configurations to be the same but just be back at stock so I can re-flash. Any ideas on how to do this?

Wait wait
Since ClodyG3 updated to UX4.0 i highly suggest what you do is do a Titanium Backup and then root your stock firmware and restore the titanium backup
Then you can remove root using KDZ if desired

I just tried flashing the new wimax update and it went through and succeeded, but now my phone reboots after a minute or 2 once it's fully booted. If I'm in recovery mode it doesn't have that problem at all. I'm using baked 1.5.

Have you tried the standard "wipe cache and data, then reflash your ROM"?

I have re-flashed the wimax radio and wiped the dalvik/regular chache and did a factory reset.
did you wipe? that will solve most of your problems with out the need of a thread being made.

First of all, mods please move my topic to Q&A. I did not mean to post this in this forum. Also yes I've wiped everything about a million times.

Did you try flashing an older version or a nandroid? If you are using clockwork make sure signature checking is turned on too, you could have a corrupted file.

I tried flashing an older version and that didn't work either. What is this thing about nandroid? How do I go about that?
Edit: I fixed it by restoring google proprietary stuff(forgot the name) and restored nand. Which one fixed it? I have no idea, but it basically restored me to factory 2.1, but with root access. Mods please lock/ delete this. It's in the wrong forum and I apologize. Thank you

A nandroid is a backup of your system you can make from the recovery, it's always a good idea to make one before you flash anything. I'm not sure if that covers your radios though.
Do you use titanium backup or anything? Without knowing how your phone is set up (what recovery you are using, etc) the only thing I can think of would be to flash the engineering bootloader. That should fix it but you would have to reinstall your ROM afterwards.

The nandroid restore worked because I had a backup I made while following the guide. I fixed it doing that, but while trying to update the radio to the current one again figuring if it messed up I can restore it and again the same problem came up, but this time nandroid restore wont work and it's telling me to use adb restore, but adb says your device is not found.
BTW all of my phones stuff come directly from the idiot proof guide(recovery etc)
bump... I'm sorry I'm sitting here with a semi broken phone. Is it possible to download someone else's nandroid back up and install it on mine? I know it will fix my problem as it already did, but for some reason now it's telling me to do it with adb, but my usb seems to not be working either.
I remember flashing back to stock (unmodified) on the Vibrant through Odin, so is it that easy on the sprint S3? If so where? Could someone link me up? I'd appreciate it. Does it also take my radio back to stock?
Also How do you reset the flash counter in the process?
Thanks in advance.

Also I made a nandroid back up before I started this flashing stuff... Would I just factory/wipe, delete dalvik and wipe cache. nandroid back and its all the same thing as stock, but im rooted and have cwm? if so that seems easier and just as effective plus I wont have to get root or cwm back correct?

Yes if you made a backup, you can restore that backup and you'd be on stock and rooted. I don't think you have to wipe anything to restore a backup though

You would have to flash stock recovery and unroot, but it is always recommended to do a factory reset after an OTA update anyway, as you may experience issues. The easiest way is to make a backup with titanium and copy all necessary files to your PC, then flash the ZVC tot using LG flash tools. Root after this with ioroot25 and restore your files and data with TBU. Keep that backup on your PC as you never know when you'll need it. You'll have a reliable update this way and minimize or eliminate any update problems.

It does, sms/mms will be in yellow and there are 2 options, select the one that says XML and you will be in business when you restore them.
Edit: By 2 options, I mean don't confuse it with "Messaging" app. Been there done that.

Hey guys, sorry for all the newb posts ... I gave a try of a few ROM's and wasn't entirely happy with bits and pieces so I am going back to my ROM basically after setting up my phone from the initial Root and DRM key backup procedure. When I go to PhilZ dual recovery, and try adn restore it successfully restores teh system but not the data, and fails the restoration procedure.
From Googling, it seems i need to flash something over my phone to bring it back to a previous state, then the Nandroid will be compatible to restore? Is there a step # in teh guide that I should start from, or should I just start the entire root process from scratch again?

i had a similar issue after trying ResurrectionRemix. After a few hours, i gave up and reinstalled Stock 4.4.2 from scratch. But perhaps you might have a chance if you just install a plain CWM Recovery and copy the backup to the place CWM awaits...

Yeah thanks for the advice ... i just re-installed from scratch 4.4.2 and i still get "error while restoring data" !! annoying!
I am just tired of wiping, trying a new rom, setting it up, finding problems too big to live with and repeating the process. So I used TWRP to put my backed up system back on the phone but when it boots up tons of things are missing. Google apps are all gone, no root. Did I do something wrong? I backed up all the tick boxes when I made my backups, yet so much is missing?
Flash th stock through odin. Then flash twrp and this time restore only data from nandroid.

Thanks. I did flash my original firmware just now via odin, but I thought that would resolve my encryption problem. I made a thread about it here, I don't know if you could chime in on that thread if you have any ideas on my new issue? Thanks: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/questions-relating-to-fresh-odin-t3057860
