Ok, I'm not sure what the problem is but every time I open ES File Explorer it tells me my SD card is unmounted or not present. However, all my programs installed to the sd card run and if I use Astro file explorer I can access the files on my SD card. Also, If I go to applications and clear data for Es file manager it will run until I reboot my phone and then it will not work again. I've tried unistalling it and reinstalling it and it will run unitl I reboot and I still get the same error. I've searched this forum and on google and have not seen anybody else experiensing the same problem. Does anyone know what's causing this? Thanks.
Nobody has any suggestions?
Try going into settings and unmount your SD and mount it again. Then open ES and try again. If that doesn't work then try the above steps again and uninstall and reinstall ES before opening it.

Try Root Explorer
I was having this problem as well. It occurred after I allowed es to have root access, and then tried to connect my phone to my computer through USB to transfer files. I was however not able to transfer files between my computer because the mass storage button on my phone would not process any function. I resolved this problem by enabling debugging mode, then pressing the mass storage button. After transferring some apks, I disconnected my device to install them. However, as I stated, when I opened es it gave me the "unable to mount SD card" error. The only way to resolve this I found was to go back into es and disable root access. After I did that I was immediately taken to my SD mount.
I fixed the issue by going into application, ES explorer and clicking clear data.
Unfortunately you lose settings, but it saves reinstalling.
nope!!!!
the way to fix this permanently is to go to settings and disable root access.
works perfect!!!!!!! and dont need root access ALL the time lol
SD Card unmounted or not present. Here is the fix:
Android ES File Explorer Error:
SD Card unmounted or not present. Here is the fix:
The path is the problem.
1. Launch ES File Explorer
2. Click on "Menu", "Settings", "Home Directory".
3. Change the path to exactly the following (only the one slash as shown):
mnt/sdcard
4. You may need to refresh by exiting ES File Explorer and re-launching it, or by pushing the home icon in the main program screen.

I just got my first Droid cell phone, and was having a problem finding my external flash memory card also.
In ES File Explorer settings, (open program, tap menu pad, elect "Settings"), and then scroll down to "Up to root". Enable "Up to root". This lets you tap the back button all the way to the roo directory of whatever file system you are browsing.
The path to the external flash card is /mnt/sdcard-ext
This means you tap the back pad until you see / as your path up top, then scroll down to "mnt", and select that. Then you scroll down to "sdcard-ext" and tap that. You are now browsing your external sdcard. Add it to favorites, so you don't ahve to do that again!
While I am new to Droid phones, I am not new to Linux. I run it exclusively on everything. Basically, the android operating system is a screwed up version of Linux. Google uses Linux to get the system going, then they make it so you can't run any of the tens of thousands of already finished nifty open source Linux programs, such as LibreOffice, Firefox, Thunderbird, etc...
Hello, I have a question. I have the Samsung galaxy ace root and the root explorer I can see the files but the problem is that I have a problem with the sd card.
Explaining the root problem is that I open explorer and I get the root folder and there I give app data and then and there I get all the apps installed on the internal card and cell phone so I give the app and I can give install message so that if I give to see all your arxibos will I see, because I want to do the same thing but in the applications installed on the sd card is all that installed him stan to see how the d internal memory but the memory externally. Not if I explain here is better:
when I get into /data/app

imageshack.us/photo/my-images/842/37418692.jpg/
imageshack.us/photo/my-images/94/41448627.jpg/
and when I'm in /mnt/sdcard
imageshack.us/photo/my-images/204/24011522.jpg/
The purpose of this is that in / mnt / sdcard no data / app so I can not give the application to see as before in / data / app so you can see the configuration files of the game
Even in the pc let me.
PS: the big problem is that the file is read-only and even changing the permissions and putting it all clicked not even let me delete or modify files in that folder or glue or anything.
Let's see if anyone can answer me. thanks

Hi,
So i have my brand new G4, and I've an issue: total commander don't wanna write or delete files on external sd card. It tells me it's android 5 fault.
Do I have to install the app called "sd fix" (I don't remember the name) that I used in kitkat, or is it something else?
I can write or delete with the LG default file manager
I'm using Total Commander. It's working fine.
I did have to establish permission first. I moved a few videos from one folder to another and it asked me to click something to give it permission. Works fine now.

I had to give it permission too. But there's a few other random apps that don't get the option to give permission. Just says can't write to sd card. Kind of annoying.
in kitkat you couldn't write on sdcard a part of software folders itself, with lollipop they changed it,so with permission should but i think not all app updated for that
Hey guys, got a question for you.
I'm trying to get ES file explorer to have permission to access my sd card. I've done it before on my previous note 4, but this time when it tells me to select the root folder everything comes up blank, like the screenshot I attached.
I can access the card with no problem through the built in file manager. Not sure what else to try.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
And also, I did hit the menu button and "show sd card", still nothing.
yesterday, i used to do something like this
1.Go To the 'ES File explorer app, (Or any app which you want to give write permission to as such...)
2. Get to the dialogue box where you ned to give the write permission insude the said app (usually try deleting something simple from the sd card using the said app)
3. click on "Select"
4. If you have only 'Recent' in the slide view menu, there would be a vertical 3 dots on the top right corner. Click it.
5. Either click on "Show Internal Storage" OR "Show SD card" (would start with "Show..." whatever it may be)
6. Again Open the Slide by swiping from left to right.
7. Select "sd card" from the menu.
8. Again select "SELECT 'SD Card'
9. DONE!
Click to collapse
but today, after odin the phone with orginal fw. i do extractly the same but cannot granted access to SDcard. so, i cannot del or create folder on SD card. help e
Are you using a custom ROM and did you check application manager for storage permissions? Is the app asking for root permission access? Stock permissions, lack of superuser or lack of user permissions may limit ability to manage files.
I've seen other posts complaining about ES File Manger not working in MM, even custom ROMs that Root Explorer had demonstrated ability to work without issue. If the above doesn't work to allow the procedure you referenced to work, then try it with Root Explorer:
