Hello,
I flashed CM12.1 a nightly version (mentionted at the title). Now I am glad that google finally decided to bring back microSD support in lollipop, but it is not working.
First of all, Skype/SoundCloud/Nine all these apps require me to log in again whenever I reboot. It doesn't happen when they are on the phone.
I want to keep my phone memory as low as possible, so I moved everything to my sd card.
I do not understand why it is so hard to fully support an sd card. There have always been issues with sd cards since the early android versions and Google never released a phone with an sd card for the past 5+ years.

So ever since installing ICS, I've had trouble accessing/using the sd storage. Recording video's or taking pics doesn't always work, most of the time they come out corrupted. Trying to transfer movie's onto the sd card always asks me if I want to make the video compatible & it doesn't matter which of the two I choose since the video plays for 2 seconds. Also, the transfer's to sd are ridiculously long. I've re formatted and re inserted the sd card several times and still no luck.
Anyone else experiencing issues with the sd card pre/post ics update ?
No.
Sent from Rooted LT28at with ICS.
I have, but chalked it up to the flakiness of Android + SDXC. I also upgraded to ICS on day one, so I couldn't say if it would be any better on GB.
Hi...
This is my first post here.
I have a problem with my SD Card.
My SDCard: 32GB microSDHC, some application like music player and gallery sometimes can't read file on my ext sd card (but my file manager can do it flawlessly)
Furthermore, sometimes it shows PREPARING SD CARD on top of the screen, although I don't even do anything. I tried to re-mount it again. But the problem still sometime occurs.
This problem started happening when I changed my stock rom to Ressurection Remix, I thought this problem occurred because of the ROM. so I change it to AOSP. But still... the problem still existed. So then, I changed it back to my stock ROM (with restore option in CWM)
But yeah... Nothing happen.
Any idea?
P.S.: Sorry for my bad english.
extSdCard/sdcard 1 issues
I have a Note II N1907 (ATT) running Liquid Smooth with a SanDisk microSD ultra 32gb. I have been trying to figure this issue out since I bought this phone 2 months ago. I screwed up the original card that I transferred from my old phone some how by trying different things to make the phone recognize it. It worked fine in my HTC Vivid. I have root and am able to use root options to try to access this card of installation, but the best I have been able to do is use it for storage. And I have to manually move things to the card, because most apps do not acknowledge that it is there (can't see it). TWRP recovery can see it after I did my first ROM Flash, but I have to use internal memory for my first ROM Flash, because recovery mode was unable to mount extSdCard.
Is there a kernel I can flash to remedy this. I am no developer, but I think the problem is that the internal memory is also SD in type. I have noticed that internal memory shows up as SDcard0 (zero) and the after market sd card is sdcard1. Maybe the phone automatically defaults to the first sdcard and ignores the other (because it is only designed to have one sd card).
I am sure others have hard this problem with this phone. Thank you for any help you can offer..

As soon as I saw your reply I scanned for the words "Sandisk Ultra" and then I knew this was your issue.
I had a lot of SD card corruption with this brand and searching a lot on the web I found many stories of people having the same issues as I did.
My 32Gb Sandisk Ultra was the cause of many of my problems. 2 months on with a Lexar 32Gb, no problems (touch wood)
Since Xposed and G3 Tweakbox are both available for Lollipop now, I decided to make the jump on my D850. However, I am experiencing issues with my SD card unmounting since updating to 5.0.1. For instance, restoring TiBu app backups frequently causes it to unmount and hang the restore process. It doesn't seem to have trouble doing stuff like playing music, but it will sometimes unmount randomly like when unlocking the device. Originally I thought it was a dying SD card since it is an older 64GB SanDisk, but a brand new 64GB Samsung card is exhibiting the same problem. I tried both cards formatted as FAT32 as well as exFAT. I also formatted them in Windows and via the phone itself to see if that made a difference.
If I revert to stock (using dll/tot/lgflashtool) I can use the SD card, including restoring backups, without issue (this is true of both cards, so I don't think there is actually a problem with the SanDisk card). If I install any 4.4.2 based ROM, I can still use the SD card without issue. As soon as I install 5.0.1, both SD cards start their unmounting dance. I figured perhaps something was getting corrupted when updating or maybe I was doing something wrong, so I tried a few methods of getting 5.0.1 on the device. I reverted to stock again and took the OTA, but I experienced the same unmounting issue. I also updated from stock using the ADB method as well as the TWRP flashable zip, but both cards still unmounted.
I went ahead and reverted to stock again, and I am running Wulf's 4.4.2 debloated ROM and the SD cards are both working normally. I restored 202 apps+data using TiBu without issue, and I haven't seen the card unmount once.
It doesn't seem to be a hardware issue with the phone or the cards, but I could be wrong and I am out of ideas. I don't really mind 4.4.2, especially since G3 Tweakbox works better, but there are a few 5.0.1 features that it would be nice to have.
Any thoughts on what the problem might be?
I am experiencing the same problem except I'm still on stock 4.4.2 My feeling is there is a software issue as well, I was considering the possibility that perhaps an app or the OS was writing some backup file to the card which corrupted it every so often.
Youre right though I only notice it after unlocking the phone so maybe there is a pattern here. Maybe its the unlocking that causes it to unmount. never had it unmount while in the middle of using the phone. Hope others discus this more people's experiences and thoughts will help us all figure out a solution.
ALSO: post up all specs for card and phone model. The SD Card is a Kingston Ultimate 64GB (Class 10 UHS-I) microSDXC Card, Up to 90MB/s read, 45MB/s write (SDCA10/64GB) phone is LG G3 D852 on Kitkat 4.4.2
I just flashed the latest CM nightly for MM and when I put my SD card in the phone it says its corrupt. I do the reset with the phone to wipe it and after its done I only have 15MB instead of 64GB. Is there a manual fix for this or is it something I just have to wait for CM to do? I have the G3 D852 with latest TWRP.

It looks like you're going to have to wait for a long while to see exFAT get fixed, and yes, I am in the same boat as you are so I literally feel your pain, but that said, when the OS asks me to format the Samsung 64GB EVO microSD card, it gets formatted to FAT32, which is absolutely useless for large files that are more than 4GB, and I have a LOT of FAT32-UNFRIENDLY files that I need on my microSD card, so Android Marshmallow is officially off the cards for me until that problem is fixed.
I have the same problem.
When I format to swapable sd card, I end up in 16MB.
When I format it to internal storage, the formatting stucks at 20% and after a few minutes I get a toast message with "java.util.concurrent.timeoutexception blah blah" and I have to reformat the card on my computer.
Looks like moving on from 5.1 to 6 was one of my biggest mistakes since I have a smartphone.
//Edit
I see there is already a thread about this. Cheers!

Exact same boat as everyone here. 64gb card shows as 15mb. If I format it as internal storage, I get the timeout exception. Didn't even realize I was upgrading to cm13 when I hit the update through OTA. It's came in the same list as cm12.1 nightlies. Of course since I didn't realize I booted it up without flashing gapps for 6.0 and was stuck the entire day trying to wipe clean, flash and restore backups from titanium. Android wear doesn't function properly, BT pairings get deleted on every reboot, SD card is screwed, the list goes on. Such a silly way to include it through OTA update without any warning.
Good news folks!
For those users who have flashed finnq's CM13 nightlies (20151219 onwards), you can now use exFAT-formatted microSD cards - all you need to do is flash the Nebula Kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/kernel-nebulakernel-rev6-5-build20150715-t3161768
All this because I wanted to free up space to install Grim Fandango...
I backed up my Samsung 64 gb card on my laptop and then reformatted my card as internal so I could use AppMgr III to move apps over. Now, I'm stuck with my SD card saying "checking...", and it doesn't recognize the card on my laptop.
Any ideas?
Fixes coming....
There are proposed changes currently sitting in code review at CyanogenMod. The changes have not yet been approved or merged. Here is a ROM image for LG G3 d850 that includes the proposed changes to fix the exFAT problem as well as the GPS problem. They work for me. YMMV. Use at your own risk!

Ive just installed the new CM 13. Everything is working fine more or less but I still got one major problem. When I format my sd card to use it as an internal storage, it gets stucked at 20 percent. After sometime it gives me a timeout error, so i cant use that Android M feature and my SD card. Does anybody know a solution?
Thanks a lot
BR
I think your not alone , it's a bug from the cm13 build for now do not sd card on cm 13
Envoyé de mon LG-D852 avec XDA Forums Pro.
You are not alone.
Thanks a lot for the repsonse Ive just realized that my sim card is not detected? Any ideas? Ive reinserted the sim card and wiped cache
Not alone. Me too! If I format as external storage shows 15MB on a 64GB card. Format as internal and gives timeout error. Stuck with a dud for now. Didn't realize when I hit update through OTA updates that it was CM13. Unfortunately, stuck with it for now.

I have exactly that problem, too!
So we have to wait a few days until it's fixed. Welcome to cm-nightly
same problem here,
also noticed that whatsapp won`t download or upload media.
So I was looking at the build for 11/28 for vs985 and found that... Fix mounting of non-FAT formatted SD cards (2/2) (android_packages_providers_MediaProvider) Fix mounting of non-FAT formatted SD cards (1/2) (android_frameworks_base) so the SD card mounting should be fixed if I am not mistaken because it clearly says Fix for the NON-FAT formatted SD cards.....I haven't tried the format because I have way too much music on my 64 gb card. Anyways whoever has the vs985 and is continuing to flash the nightlies keep us all up to date on the SD card fixes. I am going to revert back to 5.1.1 for my music on my sd card. Probably the only downside to the CM13 builds.
Edit:
Caught Bug/s: When taking pictures the image doesn't show. CM13 11/30 build.
The nightly I used already included these:
Fix mounting of non-FAT formatted SD cards (1/2) (android_frameworks_base)
Fix mounting of non-FAT formatted SD cards (2/2) (android_packages_providers_MediaProvider)
And it didn't work for me.
Haven't tested it with the current nightly, yet. Anyone else maybe?
Still doesn't work in latest nightly
Did you try to update today's version ?
I have updated it, of course. There is still too much to fix, so I try to take every update. [even when it doesn't makes sense ]
But I haven't tried to format the sd card since cm-13.0-20151129-NIGHTLY-d855.zip
Were there any changes? Haven't seen any related to it in the changelogs...
Doesn't Work here eather...
Im on the latest nightly and I have my full sd card after formatting
You mean "cm-13.0-20151207-NIGHTLY-d855.zip", right?
In that there was a change: vold: Fix native exfat driver support (android_system_vold)
Maybe that's what we were looking for.

Did anyone have any luck with the 07 build?
I'm on business trip right now and will be back home this evening (gmt+1).
Then I will try on the 07-build and report back.
Nope.
Stuck at 20%, timeout after a while.
07. Dec Build.
confirm half-working sd card on 11. dec build.
formatting and using as external drive works pretty fine. Formatting working, mounting, too.
I'm using a 64gb card and I have all available (not 15mb anymore etc).
Only probelm I found out was after formatting as internal drive.
The card got formatted, but when I was asked to move files, I got a force close of the settings. So it was not possible to let android move over files automatically.
Same here with 15dec build
