I would by no means consider myself a NOOB, as no one ever wants to be a newb. Although i have bricked and burned up a few devices. I have been a member of XDA for some quite some time. I started with an HTC HD2, i was dual booting windows phone 7 and gingerbread. UltimateDroid, to this day is and was still my favorite ROM of all time. Still wonder what happened to that guy. I ended up burning up that phone so much so that it would lock up and i would have to put it in the freezer for 10 minutes before putting the battery back in and turning it on. From there i graduated to an HTC sensation. Phone was awesome, i was running an early version of the InsertCoin rom, until i was on skype and dropped the phone. For some reason upon dropping the phone, it never turned on again. I then had a samsung galaxy captivate and was dissatisfied to find out i could only get 2g on tmobile based on the antenna in the phone not being able to recieve tmo's 3g signal. From there i went on to an LG G2x, what a great phone. I was using the Tsugi Rom with the oyusame overclocked, stock voltage kernel. I got kind of sick of the phone because i had flashed every new rom that came out and it just started to get redundant for me, that was when i got my Galaxy S2 Hercules. I love this phone but alas, in my continued need to root and flash the crap out of my phone with all XDA's latest and greatest goodies, i flashed a rom that didnt boot. (This was most certainly my fault for NOT THOUROUGHLY READING THE INSTRUCTIONS) so in discovering this with only a few minutes to spare before work, i opened up odin before work and grabbed what i thought was clockwork recovery and flashed it. This was not clockwork recovery and upon and flashing i recieved what every modder on here is terrifed of. QHSUSB_DLOAD followed by that god awful windows device driver error noise. Pissed off driving to work with no phone, i immediately ordered a USB jig off amazon for $3.50 cents plus an addition $35.00 to overnight ship it to my house. So impulsive to fix my phone, i even stopped at radio shack and bought myself a pack of 100k ohm resistors to try and make the part myself. Several broken usb cables, and my kitchen table looking like a tweekers wet dream later i had no resolution. I woke up the next morning tracking my usb jig every half hour and was very excited to recieve it, goign as far as to tell my wife that i would no longer be going to get her coffee or visiting her parents as I would be pre-occupied with my phone for a while. Murphy's law however saw otherwise as this did not fix my issue either. I of course knew that if i called T-Mo the insurance would not cover this. So i started calling local cellphone repair shops. After about the fifth place i called, i realized that most of those people are lightyears behind whats happening on here and found that when i tried to talk tech they would sit there and scratch their heads. Out of options, I called the 800 number for samsung on the label underneath the battery. I very openly and honestly explained to the lady that i had rooted my phone, installed a custom recovery and was flashing custom roms. I then explained something went terribly wrong and the phone does not respond at all. I also explained the QHSUSB_DLOAD problem. I believe this explanation went a little beyond they types of calls she was used to recieving. She did however explain that Samsung provides complimentry re-flashes of bricked phones as long as there is no hardware damage done to the device. She then e-mailed me a ups label with shipping paid , and my phone is in the process of being repaired. I did buy yet another HTC sensation to get me by for the 2 business day shipping to samsung, the 7 business day evaluation and repair process, and another 2 days for me to get it back. I hope this can help anyone who has made the same mistake, and moreso i hope this can show others how rushing, being careless, and not reading the instructions can come with HEAVY consequences. Although all should work for me just fine, i still had to spend $150 on a used sensation with a cracked screen, and the nearly 2 weeks of downtime i am without my GS2.

I've been on xda for quite some time now, and i know for a fact that people have gotten their phones replaced through standard warranty when they got that error, the old "it stopped working and won't turn on" has worked for some. If you cannot revive it chances are that no one at samsung can, i don't think they even bother, they just open it and reflash the phone.

Yeah most people went through regular warranty exchanges, but from what the OP was explaining he's a very honest person and would have said that he rooted the phone therefore he would not be able to exchange it.
That's good that he's honest, but it would have been a lot easier to just do that and get the phone next day because TMobile is just going to send that phone back to Samsung and they'll do the exact same thing they're doing to his phone now

My very first device was the Mytouch 3G on T-Mobile. Back then, it was maybe the 2nd Android phone to have even existed at that point.
Me, never being satisfied with anything stock and coming from a heavily modified blackberry, wanted to tweak the hell out of it.
Back then, it took a LOT more to root and flash, ESPECIALLY HTC Devices. There were no custom tools yet to root, and the only easy part was using CWM. You HAD to use adb commands to exploit to get root and even get CWM on the device at that point, but only AFTER downgrading it back to Android 1.5, but after that it was easy.
(I couldn't believe how fast and easy it was to root and flash on the T989 after having HTC devices up until last year)
Anyways, I somehow managed to get it CWM to boot (you had to boot into normal recovery after replacing update.zip with a CWM zip, and then flash the new update.zip file back then) and went to flash a ROM, and instead I flashed a zip, but the wrong ROM was uploaded by the OP, and what I had flashed as for the G1. It was literally only uploaded for all of maybe 2 minutes before he pulled the post down and uploaded the correct version.
I was the ONLY one who downloaded and flashed it within that 2 minute window.
Needless to say, I hated my life.
Now the funny part:
I was so paranoid back then about not letting T-Mobile know that I was rooted, that I literally bought a BRAND NEW Mytouch 3G (because you couldn't even find broken ones on ebay yet) and sold the broken one, which I bought the day before mind you, for $20. I wish I would have known that, back then, there were no counters on the MT3G. T-Mobile would have never known as it wouldn't boot.
:crying:
Flash forward to today, and IDGAF.
Well im in a bit of a predicament, my Tab died while my cousin was using it and now ive put it on charge for 30 mins and it wont get past the flashing x boot screen googled it and noticed someone else has the same issue, is it common? any help?
You should be able to download and reflash the rom if needed but not sure if you have too.
What was your friend doing to it? Was he trying to unlock and root, etc?
Will it sync to your PC?

Last night I had a similar issue, it won't pass the initial Google logo.
I just held the power button down for a while, and it turned off, then I powered it on again and everything was fine.
It happened after I tried a bunch of apps and decided to restart it.

I am guessing it's related to the letting the battery run out of juice.
Charging a completely dead lithium battery may take much longer time. For several times I have to plugin and wait half hour to several hours before the battery even start charging, of course those were on other devices, but I think it should be common among all such batteries. May be the battery hasn't been charged at all.
Since you are still in US, I would suggest take it back for a exchange, whatever the reason, the device should be considered faulty. If you brought it on Amazon then just return and mail it out before you leave.
fixed it by resetting the device in recovery, all works fine now, found a dead pixel now not going to risk returning it now, device is working fine
Seems like it's a 4.3 issue

...What the heck I bought the Verizon htc one 3 months ago used from a guy meet him at the Verizon store phone was in excellent condition by looking at it so I took it home and put in my phone drawer since I was using nexus 4 at the time well long story short I dropped my n4 2 weeks ago broke screen so I pulled out the used m7 I had played around with it charged it up played couple games everything seemed fine so I got it activated woohoo. so after that I was ready to root install custom roms etc only to find out I had to pay $25 to start that process which I finally gave in and did. After using sunshine only a couple days ago to gain s-off unlock bootloader rooting and flashing supersu and installing custom recovery twrp most recent one I installed my first rom on this device liquid smooth and only enjoyed it one day.All of a sudden I noticed phone was getting really hot so I installed gsam battery monitor and it was showing temp as 107F sometimes higher but not much lower until I went outside for a while and it went down to about 74 .well I went on htc website and followed instruction to calibrate battery and I did that so I let it drain until empty and put it on charge and let it charge to 100 within 2hrs it was dead and doesn't come on at all period...what happened..
When you plug it to a wall outlet, does the charge while off animation show? If you let out completely die, you will have to let it charge while off for a little bit before you can turn it on.

I'll fill you in on what I was told, in reference to a used phone. After I sent my phone for repair, I was informed that, although the phone was within the warranty window, it was voided because it was purchased off eBay. You may be fortunate enough to get it done at no cost, but the odds aren't high. You'll never know unless you try...
Why don't you contact HTC directly? They know the date it was activate and that starts the warranty time. You would have to send in for repair and not swap and hope they don't swap the motherboard to keep your sunshine license. It goes by board serial. You have to hope that they do not decide to "fix it" and find out it was s-offed either. Sometimes they know, other times they don't

Heck sometimes they don't even know that. On a second hand m8 I have that I sent in for repair I got to chose my warranty date. They were very nice about it.
If you have a Linux distro you can see if it is stuck in limbo mode. Below is an unbrick method for the M7ul, but you get the jist... Best to send to HTC If in that mode.

I'm back with the news my plan was to send to HTC but they said since my warranty was 2 weeks out date I would have to pay out of pocket between $100-180 and they also said if they find any other problems that may have caused it out would be more and that they would factory reset it back to HTC setting so I figured they eye going to check everything and with it being rooted, s-off custom ROM, recovery I think they would have kept it to further help stop development etc so I found a local repair shop that's going to replace battery and labor for $60 bucks.. Hope it goes well in mean time I went and bought another nevus 4 love this phone and with free development. But since I paid for s-off and didn't get to enjoy it I will be keeping m7 awhile as I was just getting used to it..

Hello
I bought new Tab S 10.5 - T805 Model, the Tab was new just out of the box and has KitKat 4.4.2 , when I use it especially when i put Wifi on, it suddenly restart, and this happen several times while i'm surfing or playing game, sometimes after 5 minutes and sometimes after 1 Hour, I did factory reset through setting but same thing, still restart like 10 - 15 times a day, I tried Master factory reset also same thing, it has nothing to do with Apps because it restart without apps, I tried he safe mode thing and it also restart while using it.
I removed MicroSD and same problem still exist, I also stopped sync, I think i have tried almost everything
I really felt tired because when you are in a middle of something or having a call it suddenly restart without any reason, anyway the new lollipop just released and I update my system to the new lollipop through OTA, but the problem still exist.
Sometimes the tab show this message "Unauthorized Actions Have Been Detected", but most of the times it restart without showing this message
Please help, i'm tired of this Tab S, it's very expensive and now it's useless
I have the same problem. I've tried all software tricks to no avail. Then I noticed something.
It restarts when you slightly move the tablet. So I think it is a hardware issue. Sort of a bad fixing of the battery. When it moves, it loses the electric connection for a short time.
You should return the tablet to get it repaired.
I haven't returned mine yet because I don't want to wipe my tablet and wait for 3 months to get it back.
I'm angry with Samsung. This is the last time I buy a Samsung product !

Bought mine in Reunion island, Indian Ocean.
On the back of the tablet, mentioned "made in Vietnam by Samsung "

It seems battery issue then, i'm in syria now and no samsung center here
I will see if they might return it from the syria i bought from but most likely wont do anything just my bad luck

Look, before declaring you will never this that and the other, you could just have a faulty unit.
EVERY manufacturer produces faulty units even Apple!
Samsung sell millions of units there's bound to be bad ones due to faulty components. That can't be helped.
I have had no trouble at all with mine.

Just thought I would post this little gem here...
About 3 days ago I set my D855 LG G3 to reboot which put it into a sleep of death. It wouldn't start up at all. I tried the usual battery pull and leaving it for a while, connected to the PC but the PC wouldn't even recognize the device...nothing at all...not even an led flash.
So I believed it had fallen foul to the dreaded EMMC failure or the likes of it being just shy of 3 year old. I was ready to pull the trigger on a new axon 7 as reverting back to my now 5 year old S4 just didn't fill me with joy.
So I read some info about 'baking the motherboard', yeah I was a bit sceptical about this but I didn't have anything to lose.
So I removed the screws, popped the plates off, ripped the motherboard out and set the oven to gas mark 4. Placed the board in a pyrex dish on top of a piece of parchment paper and let it bake for 10 mins. Removed and cooled for 20 mins near an open window and reassembled the LG G3...
...and it started up WTF!
Now I am not saying it will continue working indefinitely but damn...if I get another 6 months out of it I will be extremely happy. So if you are having problems with your LG G3 like me and it seems hard bricked and you have nothing to lose...give this a go...you might just be surprised.

There are other methods for bringing it back. I'm speaking from personal experience. My G3 decided to install an official Android update while I was on custom firmware, hard brick for about 4 days while I was obsessively trying to fix it. This was about 2 years ago, and I'm still currently using my G3. I think this oven method would land at about "Plan Z" for me.... Glad it worked out for you though! It's always awesome to read stories of people pulling some necromancy on their devices.

I agree but this seemed to be the most simple fix to try.
JTAG wasn't an option for me and some of the other methods were way out of my comfort zone techy wise like using Qualcomm diagnostic tools and the contact shorting. Gotta love the G3 for its resilience though[emoji106]

[emoji1] I know it sounds so counterintuitive to do something like 'bake a motherboard' but really electronic internals get put in special ovens all the time when reballing/reflowing solder but damn...home diying it!!...I really wasn't expecting it to work.
If the process was to tell me to put a cherry on top I would have done that to avoid shelling out for a new phone [emoji1]

Thought I would revive this thread to say my fix was by no means permanent.
Probably about 6 weeks after my G3's revival I was listening to some music and suddenly the SD card unmounted for no apparent reason. So after trying to diagnose the issue I realised the SD card would start mounting and then unmount continuously. The G3 began to get seriously hot. I also get a blue flicker down the left side of the screen from time to time...I think I have to accept my G3 is dying.
Phone still works but the SD card reader is unusable now which was important to me as I had a large music collection on the SD.
I would have been happy to use usbOTG but that won't mount either, maybe the two are connected!?
But alas, I could shell out for a new board but with all the other issues it has...cracks on casing, screen lifting, it seems pointless. Time to get a new mobile me thinks[emoji852]️
