Hello,
VM 816
So I've tried unrooting, relocking, getting stock RUU; all of the threads and guides I've followed, but none of them worked when I tried to update to lollipop.
Can someone post the stock backup of their lollipop build so I can go about it that way instead? Or, if not, can you help me figure out why I keep getting an error when I try to install the update?
Thank you for your time!

I wiped everything including internal storage. Flashed the ruu visa fastboot so it was completely stock including the recovery. If you don't flash the stock recovery it won't update .

I'm desperate - need some help please!
I had a stock AT&T Optimus G Pro (980)
I rooted it successfully
I installed CWM Recovery v6.0.4.5
Phone was working fine until AT&T pushed an auto-update
After rebooting I'm getting the Secure Booting Error - and then it goes into CWM Recovery.
What should I do next?
Thanks in advance!
You're in cwm recovery. I'm sure you could wipe and install a new ROM? Other than that, I imagine the update is trying to find stock recovery and can't.

Flash back to stock, ask for the update, root again (freegee is probably the easiest)

almost... reflash back to stock, root, then take update after rooting or else you cannot root.
.
I'm in the same predicament. Tried flashing a nandroid and it still will not boot. Trying to avoid flashing back to stock.

mine did the same thing, i used this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2420219 and used the TELCEL firmware, worked fine only thing is i had to set the APN point to use data, here's a link for setting APN http://forums.att.com/t5/Android-Di...-Phone-APN-Settings/td-p/3467513#.UtLcrp5dXAx , after that everything fine.
I am finally ready to sunshine s off. I have a rooted M8, running twrp boot loader. What do I have to do to obtain s off via sunshine? I kind of remember you must have a stock boot loader. I do not want to loose anything on my phone or it to be reset, or will running sunshine whipe my phone?
Thanks for any advice.

normally these kind of questions would go into the Q&A section. First you would need to install superSU from the playstore. Second you'll need the firewater file plus ADB ready. Third there should be a youtube video showing the steps on how to get S-OFF. Fourth congrats on being S-OFF. Nothing will get erased to my memory but backup in case.
You must not confuse terms like stock bootloader and such
You need :
Stock rooted rom
Stock kernel
Stock recovery
Your bootloader is always "stock" there is no twrp bootloader. TWRP is a recovery. And sunshine comes as an application.
And please do not use videos that are often out of date (or will be soon) just follow the procedures on the sunshine developers website !!!

If its important to you, back it up. This should be a rule under any circumstance, much more so when modding the phone.
I have achieved s off , however I am unable to install any custom roms. All I get is successful install then back to recovery. I have a nandroid backup saved, so I can go right back. I also tried updating this stock Rom and it won't let me, just says it installs then phone restarts and nothing has changed. What anni doing wrong?

OTA's need stock recovery, so i would guess that is your problem with updates, what error did you get when you tried.
also what error do you get in TWRP when you try to flash a custom rom, also which rom are you trying to install.
follow the guides around here and there should be no problem at all.

For issues with ROMs not flashing correctly, fastboot erase cache and install recovery again (make sure its the latest version) will often fix it.
Also, make sure its a ROM that supports Sprint, as there are many that do not.
Hello,
I am fighting since yesterday to get the OTA update to install so I wanted to share my current steps and hopefully someone can suggest how to move on.
I have a GT-I9505, initially 'samsung version'. I installed TWRP in order to install the GPe edition. My phone is rooted.
I used to have TWRP 2.6.x
A few days ago, I got like many the OTA update for Lollipop. I let the phone download it and reboot. That´s when things became a bit more complicated.
After reboot, it went to TWRP where no update happened. If I reboot, I get back to be GPe version 4.4.4
I tried upgrading TWRP to a recent version without better results. I tried with TWRP 2.8.1.0
I have read in several places that the issue is that the OTA update expects the stock recovery.
Unfortunately so far I did not find a stock recovery for my S4 that does the trick.
I tried using the "Miustone_stock_recovery-flash-GE4.3". I could install the recovery.
I did save the OTA zip but I don´t know how I can skip the download and use the OTA zip... so so far I do it the 'lazy-lengthy' way and I wait for the download.
After flashing this 4.3 recovery, I get a slightly better result (but nothing better than I got using TWRP): After downloading the OTA, the phone reboots, goes to recovery and it tries to install the OTA update but it fails with the following message:
mmc_test.ko has unexpected content... Status 7
Can anyone suggest a way to easily install this OTA? I guess using a correct recovery could help... if I could find it.
Any hint appreciated.
if your rooted, you cannot OTA update.

Are you saying the recovery is NOT the issue and if I unroot (I guess this is possible) it would work ?
As an update, I just tried now using Miustone_Stock_Recovery-flash-XXUBMF8.zip and I get the same result.
I have seen alot of people complain about the 7 error, i even got it when i attempted to update. Everything i read states you cannot update with the OTA .zip if your phone is modified with root and/or a custom recovery.
My advice is use one of the 3 or 4 GPE roms from the 9505 thread. But if you want to totally factory reset your phone have fun, to each his own. :good:

Hi Justda,
First of all, thanks for your time and answers. My expectations are fairly low actually I installed the GPe version thinking it would make it simpler.
I was happy to get the OTA thinking I could upgrade in a click...
I realize from your answer that the OTA I am getting on my I9505 is actually meant for the I9505G and thus will not work whatever I do (correct me if I am wrong).
I will follow your advice and pick up one of those ROMs. Do you recommend a specific one?
iBastid or Danvh are my go to guys. Both are active and have a large following of users.
Danvh is straight up no aroma install, you mod it yourself.
Bastid uses aroma to give you more initial choice with his customizations.
But its up to personal preference right now, GPE is still to new for a lot of ROM pimping...

I would suggest you to use antaresone's lollipop rom

Questions, it's not here, ask to move this thread in the good section... Q & A
I've tried on multiple occasions to install the latest nightly CM13 on my m9 without success.
About a couple months after the phone came out I UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER and ROOTED. I also flashed TWRP v2.8.7.0. Phone Software version: 1.32.710.16
After I did this I could no longer install the latest HTC updates due to my custom recovery. Now I'm done with the lag and bloatware and want to install CM13.
I tried to flash the latest CM13 through ADB and was getting error: assert failed: hima.verify_sbl1... / Error executing updater binary in zip...I also tried installing through TWRP...no luck.
I have come to the understanding that I need to install the lastest firmware from HTC since CM13 is Android 6.0 before I try to flash CM13 again.
I am download the latest firmware update from HTC: RUU_HIMA_UL_M60_SENSE70_ATT_MR_NA_Gen_Unlock_3.35.617.12.exe
Will this be ok to install as is and will i then be able to flash CM13?
I've been reading that a few people have bricked their phones following this HTC guide and Im scared to do the same.
Any advice? Thank you
you need a firmware for x.xx.710.xx ... you can't install another firmware as long as your phone is not s-offed

sunshine only works with near stock rom, or stock. for example ARHD or MaximusHD will work fine, not possible on cm13 or any other "hardcoded" custom rom

Hi everyone, first time posting here.
I've recently purchased a HTC 10 from a friend. I'm looking to upgrade it to android version 7
The phone has TWRP recovery but no back up of a stock untouched ROM, ive tried looking for a stock UK H3G ROM (H3G_001) but I've been unable to find 1.
Could someone give me a little help on how to update my phone, possibly an idiot proof step by step guide. i just want the latest version available for my phone.
Thanks
Try this thread from a few weeks ago:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/stock-rom-required-htc-10-cid-h3g001-t3627726
Obviously you'd need a stock backup that matches the version you currently have.
Does your phone currently detect an available ota update?

So, if your system is rooted or modified in any way, you'll need to flash a stock system backup, matching the firmware version you currently have. Then flash stock recovery, and you'd be able to take the OTA.
If your system is already untouched, you would just need to flash the stock recovery, again matching your firmware version, and then take the OTA. There is a recovery for 6.0.1 in that link, but I'm not sure if it's for your firmware version. You could try to flash it and see if the OTA works.
Thinking about it more, if you're able to download the ota I think the best thing to do is to flash the OTA using twrp manually. See instructions in the faq located in the twrp thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ht...ery-twrp-touch-recovery-t3358139/post66347165
If you follow the instructions, you should be able to take the OTA including firmware, and not have to worry about restoring anything stock first.
