Both the North American variant and the China variant share model number A3000, there's a high chance those two variants are the same piece of hardware. The China model is said to support LTE band 3.
You could try this out to enable all hardware supported bands. Please let us know the result.

Enabling bands on the OnePlus line of devices requires a patch to the NVRAM, one of which hasn't been made for the OP3 (and older patches cause bootloops). When enabling bands, the NVRAM resets on boot, reverting all changes. I've done some research and testing, and it seems that missing bands aren't the problem. It's provisioning. The OP3 fully supports most of the bands Verizon uses, but doesn't know how to switch between LTE and CDMA. You can force LTE with a few build.prop edits and changing some cellular settings, and it works blazingly fast - but, you can ONLY use LTE and nothing else. I'm still doing some more work, but a few people that know more about RIL than me have said they will begin looking for a solution around October. For now, just enable data roaming (which isn't actually roaming if you're in the US) and use 3G. I'm confident that we can get it working eventually.
Band 13 isn't some magical necessary band, it's just the first and therefore most common band. Yet my area doesn't even use it.

i am actually currently living in Israel (so Verizon are quite far away )
the local networks all have LTE on band 3 (1800) which is not supported on my OP3.
i did manage to get 3g without doing anything, and following your bootloop comment, i will probably wait until October for someone with the know-how to generate a stable working solution.

BTW, while i was in the US (Oregon) i used T-Mobile and got LTE all day long with default settings on the same OP3 device.

Well, mine is China version and I mainly live in the US now. It would be a great deal if we exchanged our phones.
Anyway, I feel HSPA+ is fast enough for me, at least better than my wifi at home.

That I had no idea, Thanks for the information.
In fact the only band I need(more like Wind Mobile Canada need) is UMTS band 4, Wind does not have a LTE network yet.
I'm just trying to figure out if the China model supports UMTS band 4. If it does I could simply buy one here in China and bring it to Canada instead of spending 100 CAD more for the Canadian North American model.
Oops. Not used to having an international phone, forgot that not everybody is on Verizon . Anyways. Until someone can make an NVRAM patch, the only thing that might help are some build.prop edits. I'm actually currently searching for them, I'll post them when I find them.
So volte works fine for me but on LTE Discovery I only see my OnePlus 3 connecting to Band 4 and getting mediocre reception, and I'm pretty confident where I live there is band 12 (central Austin, Texas)
Anyone having a similar issue?

will editing the build.prop open up the locked LTE bands? or will it just allow me to force LTE on the currently available LTE bands for my device region?
more specifically, will this enable LTE band 3 even though the OP3 is the US version?
if so, i am willing to play along and if i get good LTE coverage at home and work, i don't mind it being LTE only.

It won't enable bands. Can't. It WILL force a connection to LTE on any supported bands in your area, though. I'm so sorry, but I'm currently in the process of finding the build.prop edits I mentioned, I had them on a thread on a different account that appears to have been deleted. The second I find them I'll post them.

There were a few more concerning GSM and CDMA operator numbers, but those seem to have no effect. You might also have to fiddle around in the cellular data settings and change from Global to LTE.
One thing is for sure - these won't work on Oxygen OS. I can't get a lock on 4G on Oxygen no matter how hard I try.

but that doesn't solve the issue, as the problem is not with connecting to LTE network but the LTE network being on an unsupported band.
forcing LTE will only leave my phone with no signal at all...
is there any way, instead of enabling locked bands, to change the region of the phone?
meaning, i don't mind losing the US bands if i can gain the EU bands.
so is there a way to completely change a OP3 from US version to EU version? so that no band unlocking needs to take place?

Whoever makes a working NV/rmt/whatever patch for 64bit devices get a cookie from me. Or at least, find another way to prevent the device from resetting the NV edits we make. I got the North American OnePlus 3 and it's the one that doesn't support Band 3 (1800MHz) which my country's 4G connection runs at.
Rebooting resets whatever NV edits we make and even on CM it does that as well. I wouldn't mind staying on HSPAP but in a couple of years that might be just obsolete.
To any developer that's interested in doing this, I'm your guinea pig, just PM me and I can test anything for you.
I meant to use band 5 lte in indonesia with smartfren using vs986. I used shortcut master lite app to enable band 5 (and/or disable irrelevant lte bands). However i still cant connect to it. I am certain that my location is under that lte band 5 coverage given that when i used other gsm sim i could see the network and attempt a registration on the network. Furthermore, seeing the networks rat id also match with the information online that it is indeed a band 5 lte network. However when i pop in the band 5 lte network gsm sim card, i am no longer able to scan for networks, it just fails to scan everytime, thus i cant connect. I wonder if there is a workaround to make vs986 able to connect to other lte networks other than verizon.
P.s. im on slim 13b rooted/xposed.
It's not just the bands. Verizon really borked the firmware of the phone to make sure that it doesn't work on any other 4G LTE network than its own. For instance, it doesn't work on AT&T and T-Mobile LTE network in the US either, even though the bands are supported.
What you can try is to switch the phone to "LTE/CDMA" mode in the "Network mode" settings. This will probably kill your phone connection, but if you get 4G LTE then, then you can try the same hack that worked for T-Mobile: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/general/guide-fix-vs986-dropping-to-3g-h-4g-lte-t3272434
But on some networks, there is no hope, for instance nobody was able to get it to work on AT&T.
I think i did check that thread out when i used t-mobile for about 6 months in seattle/udistrict/uvillage/uw areas, with no success. I never got the LTE connection. I wonder maybe its related to different roms/kdz/flashfire modified version of 13b that cause it. I hope someone whos lucky enough to get lte might share info about their 13b version/softwares that you debloat using debloater or froze using tibu. Thanks.
P.s. it was on 4g for an instant before it gives me no signal/network.

LTE 2/4/5/13 can be activated using Shortcut master lite. The problem is that, when i used a simcard that utilized LTE band 3/8, i could detect/attempt registration to signal from LTE band 5 from local network through GSM (given that i activated it). However when I used simcard for that LTE band 5 network, somehow, i can no longer use gsm/cant search for network/crashed. It seemed that LTE antennae on this device is programmed to only accept verizon's. (For lte networks, apns are saved when i put MCC/MNC or RAT for verizons, but discarded when i put other). Thank god though i could still use umts/3g.
Edit: So i tried again. Turns out, i could to get registered on the network, checked on network type and strength (says 4g - 3/4 bars) also on lte discovery says connected. However signal bars says unable to connect to network. Verizon definitely prevent users to use lte on another network. What a **** company.

Hello, I'm looking at the Global version of the Redmi Note 5 (Basically the pro. Referred to as the AI Dual camera on GSM arena) and I'll be using it in the US on Mint Mobile. Mint is a T-Mobile MVNO and I'm not sure how LTE support will be on this. If anyone has any info on this that would be great. I believe Mint mainly uses B4 and B12 but I could be wrong. I've been looking around and found mixed responses of it having good carrier support stateside and others saying it won't work.

I can confirm that the phone will WORK on B4 (1700mHz/2100mHz) and B5 if you live in the greater Myrtle Beach area. (Acquired from SunCom back in the late 2000's). I don't know if your area has B5. On your existing phone, get LTE Discovery from the Play Store and sample your most common areas first to see what bands are most prominent. Being where I live, the phone mostly uses Band 5 over 4 because of the lower freq; able to reach tougher places where the higher freq B4 can't reach.

Thank you so much for the reply. I'll give that a download and travel around. Since posting I did discover my current phone supports the same bands. So I'm less worried. :good:
Lte works on band 4, but not band 12 on T-Mobile. But, for me band 4 is enough, if I don't get lte the device will switch to 2g. 3g straight up does not work for me on T-Mobile, although I've heard that T-Mobile does not use 3g anymore in the first place.
All in all, for me lte works just as well as my previous phone (zte zmax pro)

I can see that. When B4 and B5 don't work the phone just switches to 2G but without internet so basic voice and sms still works. about 70% of the time after it switches to 2G it'll tap onto HSPA+ (3.5G, coined 4G) and I got that for a while until LTE reconnects. Rinse and repeat until I have to leave to go somewhere.
